Bio

Hey all, JB here.

I'm a DM for a large number of games here on RPG, as well as a player in several others. Many of the games I run are overly complex, or they involve Dungeons and Dragons (which is also overly complex!).

I work 40+ hours a week, and am the proud father of two tiny terrors named Chibi and Chibette and married to my beautiful Wifey. As such, I am quite busy more often than not. I typically write 2-5 paragraphs per reply and try to maintain an excellent level of grammar. If you noticed me glancing at your profile, I probably was looking to see if you would be a good match for my RPing style. Even if I didn't send a PM to you, feel free to send one back!

I enjoy 1x1 RPs and small groups. I'm fond of medieval, steampunk, and futuristic settings, and I'll jump into romance, adventure, and slice of life RPs fairly quickly, although supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc) RPs get old for me pretty quickly. If you're looking for an RP partner and I've glanced at your profile, then I'm most likely willing to give it a shot, but decided against PMing you because I'm actually kinda shy. But I'm always looking for a new friend!

Please feel free to say hi at any time!

I may not be on for the next couple of days. I had an unexpected death in the family this morning. I might pop on for a bit here and there so I will attempt to keep things moving as much as I can. In advance I would like to say thank you for your understanding during a difficult time for my family and I.

Sorry to hear it. Wish I had checked here before responding to the IC. If it would work well for you, I could assume we could find a quiet room and move us on towards introductions. Hopefully that would keep us busy for long enough to not require too much DM input for a week or so?

Ada raised an eyebrow at the responses to follow as she drained the contents of her goblet. At the response of whom she could only expect was a noble and her hoary bodyguard of sorts, Ada set down her goblet along with a couple of silver coins to pay her tab. "You see, these are the people who have some wits about them. I would ask names, but to state one's own name in a tavern like this after such declarations of vengeance would be unwise, would it not, 'Thundermaul'? I propose we inquire as to private accommodations before the mayor's guardsmen set upon us."

Ada stood and approached the hasty individual who had approached them and lowered her voice so only he could hear. "I appreciate your position and the lack of options you must believe you have, but you may have brought ruin upon us all and this tavern should we fail. We should mobilize and quickly, lest word reach your target." Ada adjusted the bow strung about her back to a more comfortable position before returning to the tavernmaster. "Would such a place be available? And how much coin is expected to guarantee your silence? I suppose twenty gold should be aplenty, would it not?"

I've already read those like five times. They just made me more confused

I suggest PMing one of the mods then. They might be able to answer any specific questions.
Wait... I'm confused.... can someone exolain this roleplay? I'm interested but just confused... Are the roleplayer's in charge on the story plot and what not and is there not a character sheet? These are suvh watered down questions due to how vaig they are, though I may not be the first to be asking this so hopefully i might get an answer.

This RP is a wide-arching multiple-thread RP. Here is a link to the character submissions. There is also an OOC Section with a FAQ.
The cathedral was larger than the group had expected. The nondescript building loomed before them in the evening sky, its architecture imposing against the starlit backdrop. As Ceria and Ary entered the front door in silence, the sahuagin ahead did not seem to notice. There were two fish-like women chanting at the altar, their song in hushed tones and in a language the group didn't know, but somehow sounded familiar. A man dressed in combat gear leaned lazily against a pillar, seemingly bored with the goings-on, and behind him rested a tiny scarlet-colored drake curled up on the dais, intently watching the progress at the altar.

The two allies sneaked forward, but at Ceria's harsh whisper, the chanting halted for a moment. "ЩНАГ ИФІꙀѮ ІИГѮRRЧРГꙀ ФЧR ЩФRꙀНІР?" the first voice sounded, resonating with the sounds of the foreign tongue. Somehow, the words seemed understandable to those who listened despite the language being foreign. The sahuagin motioned to the human who leaned against the pillar, pointing towards the back of the hall. With a sigh, the man stood up from the pillar and began to approach, scanning the area for intruders. It's only a matter of time before he reaches Ary and Ceria.

What do you do?

I'd love to see posts from the other party memvers, personally ~
Well, that was a bit embarrassing. Katia watched as nearly every blow attempted by both her friends and the enemies was wide of their targets, including two of her own shots. Although there were several of these foes remaining, she felt the opposite of threatened up on the rooftop, unless the gnome decided to turn on his saviors inexplicably.

”Come on, everyone! Work together!” Katia shouted as she prepared another volley of radiant energy. She cartwheeled over the gable end of the roof to reach the other side and sent a holy blast towards the enemy peeking out behind Thea, but her attack crashed harmlessly into the armor it wore. ”Seven hells take you!” she called out angrily as another two blasts careened towards the shadow. One appeared to be aimed better than the other, but she wasn’t sure if it made contact, at least until it disappeared in a puff of smoke. Almost as embarrassing as the last volley, though... let’s hope my allies fair better.

Ada glanced up from her cups at the loud interruption. Subtlety was evidently not this man's forte. Had she used his tactics, she would have been dead a thousand times over. No matter, she could likely gain useful information from this venture, and her previous employ was now on hold indefinitely.

"Tis a fool who rushes in by himself," she spoke up, her attention seemingly drawn to the goblet she swirled in one hand. "And tis a fool who speaks ill of those in power with such a loud volume should they have no allies to back them up. But perhaps such a fool would be intriguing for now. If you can find an ally with some wits about them, perhaps I shall join your charade. I care naught for your grievances with the mayor's taxation policies, but slavery..." Ada set down the goblet and sighed. "There are some things that I simply do not abide."

I think there's room for both a welcome committee and a learner's tag. A lot of the RPs I'm in, it feels like people expect the DM to say "figure things out or pack your bags." In tabletop games (and likely arena too), it takes a little while to learn the ropes. Heck, any game that has combat, whether through dice or storytelling, has a bit of a learning curve. I know I'd be more likely to join an NRP if I expected the DM to help teach the basics along the way, as it's a genre I've never touched. I'm sure plenty if people think similarly about various types of RPs.
@Cardamonelawit's a bit hard to read on my phone, but I can manage. I usually prefer to use this red. It's the far left middle option on the color picker. Doesn't look much different, but is slightly easier to read. Up to you tho
