MetropolisDonald Blake's ApartmentCollab with @Cyrania & @ThatDeercatThor was glad to hear Coulson's voice on the other line. He was used to the transfer of calls to managers or different departments taking longer but there was barely any time at all between his request and hearing Coulson's question. He also appreciated that he got straight to the point.
“Yes, sir. Everything's alright. I just have a friend here. She's royalty and a refugee from space who needs help getting settled on Earth. I know you typically fix problems, but you were the only one I could call with help for this. Is there a way you could get her documentation and a place to stay?” He placed the phone on speaker after asking so Koriand'r would be aware of the conversation on both sides. He didn't want her thinking he was hiding anything from her given her earlier trust issues.
Coulson swallowed. SWORD really should be in charge of something like this. However, SWORD was unknown to Thor and given Thor’s past experiences.
“...It can be arranged. We will need to work on a few things. Before we start things though, there are a few important questions. Are you willing to personally vouch for her and be her sponsor? Can she physically blend in with humans? And…” Oh what was the best way to word this? “...How much support would she want or need?”
Thor turned to look at Koriand'r before he answered.
“I will personally vouch for her as her sponsor. And yeah, she's pretty much a redhead with a tan. I think for now she'll just need a civilian identity, the records to match, and an apartment of her own. She should be able to get a job on her own after that.”“Alright. That should be good…I’ll just need to schedule an interview to talk with her personally.” And figure out what hoops he’d need to leap through and favors he’d need to call on to get this to work.
“We have an office building in Metropolis. Should we talk there and fill out the paperwork or would you rather meet in a more, private location? You choose where.”Thor didn't need to hesitate to think about it. He knew given her experiences Koriand'r wouldn't feel comfortable going to a government office to handle this. He glanced at her for confirmation before responding. “My apartment should be fine. She's staying here for the time being. When do you think you'd be available to meet with her?”
He checked his calendar while scouring the database for the right forms.
“I believe that lunchtime should work. Would you like to give me the address to your apartment?” He could probably figure it out with enough time, but they were in a rush and he’d rather give Thor that bit of privacy.
Thor wasn't expecting them to be meeting so soon, but the sooner the better. He did hesitate to give his address over the phone, but accepted that Coulson was trustworthy and could've found him on his own if he wanted to.
“39 Kirby Lee Lane. I'll see you at lunchtime.”Before the line could be cut, Kori leaned forward on her seat to interrupt, chiming in gratefully,
“Thank you, Coulson. You have my gratitude.” Looking up at Donald, she nodded silently to express her thanks to him as well.
Coulson paused. Was that the new arrival? She sounded young!
“...Just doing my job. See you around lunchtime.” Then he hung up, letting out a huge breath. What had he gotten himself into? No time to focus on that now, he needed to get all this set up and fast. And so he blocked off his lunch hour as ‘do not disturb’ time and started covertly gathering everything he should need. If SWORD found out about this…He’d burn that bridge when it came up. Right now, he had things to do.
That was easier than Thor thought it'd be. Well, they still had to wait to see how the lunchtime meeting would go, but he didn't foresee any difficulties there. He went to his recent calls and clicked on Jackee's name and called her to let her know that he'd be a little late getting back.
