@SlamJamcityWait what? Well even if she did. It's never gonna happen, Meeka is just to darn Naive. Nor would anything like that interest her. Perhaps she just meant to be good friends, or try to get close to Meeka so Eris could start asking special favors of Meeka's mom.

As the hunters were passing through a maze of crumbling buildings were the occasional mechaniloid would pop-up and try to ambush them, while still trying to reach the artillery robots, they ended up in a large construction site were the steel framework of a huge skyscraper laid bare.

From the top of it, Raven and Merro would be easily able to reach the mechaniloids that were laying support fire all over the city, crippling the enemy's offensive power and allowing the Maverick Hunter to turn the tide of battle as soon as they had dealt with the airship.

A radio message from alia arrived as soon as they began climbing the devoid building.

Alia: "Raven, Merro, are you still out there? I've found a way to deal with both of our problems, but I'll need Merro's cooperation if we are going to succeed... I need Merro to hack into the artillery mechaniloids CPUs and deliver this program."

After waiting for the hunters' confirmation, Alia sent the program to Merro via the Maverick Hunters secure network.

Alia: "When you install it, the mechaniloids will try to shoot down the airship and then, self-destruct. Even if they aren't able to bring the ship down, they should damage it to a point were combat operation becomes impossible. Good luck out there!"

Just as Alia was about to the comlink, a warning siren sounded on her monitors.

Alia: "Raven, Merro! My scanners show a giant mechaniloid closing in on you at very high speed it seems to be a construction type, and he's gone maverick too, keep your guard up!"

Not even a minute passed after Alia stopped talking, and a giant mechaniloid, whose original purpose was to turn refuse and debris into rubble with its shredder like maw, strong enough to chew through reinforced concrete with easy close in on Raven and Merro's position and began to climb the building in their pursuit.

Luckily it was slow, but its weight, combined with the fact that it was chewing away the the support beams, was making the whole building start to crumble on them. The only option that Raven and Merro had now was to climb the structure by kicking up the falling beams and pieces of concrete, while trying to avoid being smashed by them, or falling into the mechaniloid's maw and that while trying to find a way to disable the wayward machine before it became even more destructive. To do that they would most likely have to knock it off of the building and them drop the load of the crane that was atop the building to smash the thing's body with the supermassive steel beams.

"Is she?" Were the first words to leave Eris' lips just as she and Meeka were brought back by Rune. For second or two, Eris didn't even acknowledged the existence of beings other than herself, Meeka, Rune and Fafnir, who rested quietly coiled over her bed. It wasn't until Rune nodded with his head, signaling that all that Meeka needed was some rest, that Eris finally felt most of the strength leaving her body, exhaustion from fighting off the cold wind taking over it place.

"What's happening to me?" Eris thought. Normally she'd let anyone fool enough to do what Meeka did, pay the price for their own stupidity and yet, "Why?" she stared at her right hand, motionless for another second until a voice, belonging to Fafnir snapped her out of it, "Do you really not know why, young valkyrie?" the black dragon said in booming voice fit for his original size, despite being still not much larger than a pirate's parrot.

"Are you implying what I think you're, Fafnir?"

"You're free to think whatever you see as best, master. However, the first thing to come to one's mind, generally is the last one to leave the heart..."

"Do you know each other?" Sen asked curiously, before cocking her head at the girl with wings. "And when did you get wings?"

Sen's voice snapped Eris out of her private conversation with Fafnir, just as Nosk got in between her and Meeka and began to heat them both with his flame, Eris looked around and saw that Lucille and Isabella were still by the doorstep, which must mean that not much time has passed. She tried to grasp at something to help her get back up, just to find that it was yet one more of Lucille's panties, the girl had a childish taste for her undergarments, but Eris saw it as proof of her innocent mind, uncorrupted by a harsh life such as hers was.

"Thank you flaming wolf, but I can manage myself," Eris said as she tried to bring herself up, but her posture was unsteady and she almost fell down again, however her pride wouldn't let her be helped now, or else she would be indebted to them in a way that she probably couldn't repay easily. "Fafnir..." she said after dropping on her bed and soon the dragon was back to his normal size, his body coiled around hers was much more heat than she would ever need.

As Eris caressed his neck, Fanir said, "Thank you for saving my master, younglings. Her actions may be a little harsh, but this young valkyrie harbors no ill will towards any of you. In fact..." addressing both the present summoners and summons, until Eris cut him mid-sentence. "That's as far as you need to go, Fafnir. I'll explain the rest."

As you see, Eris said, answering Sen's question, "As you see, I'm not entirely human, but half-valkyrie, born of my human father and his own summon. It's been a secret for most of my life, but I was going to reveal it to you all later, today. Keeping needless secrets from one's allies is tantamount to outright lying."

"Now, I ask of you, what do you think about me? Am I in your eyes an aberration, just like the other ones who know of it think?" Just as Eris finished her question to Sen, Lucille and their summons, she turned to her side and saw that Meeka was starting to open her eyes again given the help of both Rune and Nosk.
