Othis

“Perhaps. A maiden’s heart holds many secrets, I don’t know if even all the research in the world would be able to piece them together. But, if you allow me, I’m not against digging deeper,” Othis answered Meltryllis tease with a snarky remark, delivered in her typical deadpan tone. She wasn’t going to let a girl that was likely several years younger than her get the upper hand in this situation. If the purple-haired Servant wished to play grown-up games, Othis would reply in kind.

She didn’t look the least bit surprised by Holmes’ sudden appearance, nodding slightly as he complimented her deduction. After being in the detective’s company for long enough she felt a heightened sense of sympathy for Watson’s plight in their shared adventures. And, eventually, just like the good doctor, she grew used to the fact that Holmes could be anyone, anywhere, at any time. That said, she imagined that Nanako’s reaction would feel pretty nostalgic for the snooping Ruler for a whole other reason.

“Please, don’t mind Holmes too much. If you know Dr. Watson’s books, you must be aware that he just can’t help himself when he notices something out of the ordinary. However, he never means ill towards anyone, even his own nemeses,” the white-haired Alchemist said as she took a seat and began to eat. Othis displayed a rare talent to look educated even as she made the tower of rogue desserts disappear at a steady pace.

“That said, with Holmes here we can probably help you understand your case better, Miss Nanako. In fact, if you agree to a few terms, I could even teach you the basic theories behind spiritron hacking. This way you can support your Servant in the way she feels that would work the best. The only payment I ask for is the right to know everything about this investigation. And, while I can’t speak for him, I imagine that such compensation is enough for Holmes as well, right?” she said, alternating her gaze between Nanako and Holmes.

Hinami Asakura

“I wouldn’t worry about him. I’ve seen that look in enough men before to know that he probably has never felt happiest in his whole life,” Hinami said as she observed the ‘boys’ leaving for their drinking party and leaving them behind. She could see that Lord El Melloi was bursting with joy after being reunited with Iskandar, but even so, she couldn’t help but feel a little pity for him after he got roped into whatever is it that Gilgamesh had in mind.

“That said, I hope he knows a good spell for hangovers. He’ll probably need it...”

“At any rate, what do you say of having a little time for ourselves while the boys have their fun? We can go back to business tomorrow,” Hinami asked as she gestured towards the corridor. “Of course, if you wish to stay and continue to fix the office, I could lend you a hand as well. It’s been a long while since I last did it, but I’m sure I still know how to stack books and mystic codes properly.”

Mordred

“He— hey, keep it quiet, you dummy!” Mordred said. The blonde knight tried to disguise her own surprise at Seria’s surprised reaction, knocking the other girl over the head before saying, “Don’t do this kind of thing in public, wha— what if others misunderstand it?” Even though she never let go of Seria’s hand as she scolded the other girl.

“Anyway, you don’t need to go out of your way. If there’s one thing I learned ever since the last time we’ve met, it’s th— that there’s no point in talking with Father if I can’t make her accept me for who I’m,” Mordred said, coming slightly back towards her usual self. “What kind of Knight of Treachery would I be if I bow down to her opinion, after all?” The blonde added one last bit of bravado as she thumped the hand that was holding Seria’s own against her chest, unwittingly yanking the other girl against herself.

“Oops, sorry for that one, Master. I, erm… kinda forgot about this,” Mordred added. A blush took over her cheeks, as she helped her Master get back to her feet after the sudden pull while relaxing her grip on Seria’s hand, allowing her to pull it back if she wished.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to mourn your loss,” Chie said after Kanbaru told her to find some other way to spend the rest of the day. It wasn’t like the redhead had that many plans in stock for her free time, however, one important thing was nagging the back of her mind and she surely could go take a look at it on her own. She had a dark grin on her face as she waved Kanbaru off and set on her own pursuit.

And, if all else failed, Chie could always crash into Kanbaru’s house and loiter around there while she waited for her partner. She sure wouldn’t complain about that, would she?

When Apia reached her tree she would notice the delicately sweet fragrance of plum blossoms wafting through the air, coming from a place not that far away from her location. For a normal person, this probably wouldn’t draw much attention given that plum flowers are supposed to begin blossoming around this time of the year. However, the fact that not only it carried in the wind so far away from any plum trees, but also had a faint trace of the supernatural mixed in the perfume would probably be enough to catch the senses of a magical girl.

If she turned around to search for the source of the fragrance, she would eventually find that it came from the direction of the school, most precisely the rooftop from where a faint shadow overlooked the evacuation of students as they prepared themselves for a cold and austere New Year.

Surprisingly enough, no traces of magic as they are used to it, or even the feeling of a real presence emanated from the shadowy figure. Almost as if she were nothing but an illusion brought forth by the dance of light and darkness of the approaching twilight, just a phantom, playing tricks on the mind

Back at the school gates, another blue-haired girl would soon be joining Touka. This time it was none other than Seyrun, arriving after having spotted the Detention Club president’s messy green hair, through the crowd of students that were leaving the school’s premises.

“Hi again, Miss Yama and… Miss Otoko, right?” Seyrun said, bowing towards the other girls. “I’m sorry for not being able to finish our conversation earlier today. If you wish, I’d like to make up for it by inviting you to eat something,” she cocked her head while looking towards Kanbaru with a puzzled expression before continuing, “though, given your friend’s costume… I suppose that you are going to some sort of New Year’s party, right? If so, I’m sorry for bothering you,” she finally added. This very statement confirmed that not only could she see Kanbaru in her transformed state, but also acted in a rather clueless regarding it, almost as if she weren’t aware of that what she witnessed was supposed to be something out of the ordinary.

Now, where to go with Gray and Hinami?

- The cafe is too busy at the time.

- They aren't going to the bar for obvious reasons.

- I don't imagine that the arena interests any of them.

- Nothing else that they could do to mingle with in most of the other scenes.

- So, unless Gray feels like having a trip to the Zoo, they are probably have to do a thing for themselves. I just wonder what. Maybe a museum, or some other attraction?
There you have it. I'll move Hinami at some later point, after Gray's reply.
Othis

“You don’t need to worry, I don’t have the equipment to prod that deep with me at the moment. In fact, I believe I can only make a surface level analysis without using 3x3 HERMES because your data seems to be in some sort of flux. Also, now that you mentioned Code Casting,” Othis said as she raised a finger, producing a blueish holographic screen. It was displaying Meltryllis' Servant Matrix, a more organized and machine-like way of presenting the typical data most Masters would have access through their Master’s vision. However, most of the fields were showing fluctuating values, or were outright blank, though some of them were slowly getting more fixed as Othis used her parallel processing capabilities to analyze whatever data her eyes could gather about this strange Servant.

“I don’t know how you know about spiritron hacking theory since the results of that research haven’t been released to the public yet, but I suppose it has to do with the reason why you are so irregular,” Othis said after Meltryllis mentioned something that should be known only to those who dwell within the Titans’ pit at such a moment in time. “Since your ability to hide your data doesn’t seem to come from any known Noble Phantasm and your existence wasn’t predicted by TRI-HERMES when it analyzed all the possibly summonable Heroic Spirits of the past, I can at least deduce one thing for certain,” the silver-haired alchemist said, making a short pause as she dismissed the display and pointed towards Meltryllis. “You are a being from the future, right?” she said in a completely deadpan way, not minding at all how insane her deduction might sound to others.

“Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever is left, no matter how improbable it’s, must be the truth,” Othis remembered the words of a certain detective as she too tried to piece an interesting mystery just for the sake of it.

“By the way, would you matter if finish my order while we talk?” she asked in a nearly sheepish voice as she looked at the towering pancakes that were getting colder with every passing moment.

Mordred

“Very well, then we shall, erm… get going with you,” Mordred said after Lancelot’s reply. The fact that she was getting more and more apprehensive with the prospect of finally meeting her father once again was painfully visible on her face as well as the way the blonde knight fidgeted with her clothes, trying to fix any perceived imperfection, whether they there or not.

“I wonder if Father will think that these clothes are alright? If I— if I knew it, I would probably have something more formal…” Mordred kept mumbling to herself as she and Seria followed Lancelot. “Perhaps, I can have my armor, but… what if I do that and Father thinks I’m trying to provoke her?” she continued, going through her thoughts like a nervous trainwreck, going as far as unconsciously reach for Seria’s hand and squeezing it with all of her normal strength. Which, just like her father’s, wasn’t that very great when she wasn’t using her Servant powers or Mana Burst.

Just as Mavis expected, she didn’t get out so easily, after coming back from another mission with an easily preventable injury. Not that a cracked bone was much for her, but a certain Lieutenant Colonel forbid her from any for at least the next weekend. Not only that, but the redhead was required to wear a medical exoskeleton on her so that her treatment could be done in time, while also being promised a ‘proper education’ when the two of them were back at home.

“Well, I guess that all’s well when it ends well,” Mavis said to herself as she got ready for the ‘dreadsome’ prospect of a free weekend. Before she went out to hit the city and enjoy the day before the unavoidable earful she would get later in the night, Mavis left a note for Subaru in their room talking about her plans. She knew that the other girl was going to expend most of her time in the lab with her mom — Mavis’ mom, that is — but couldn’t stop herself from inviting her anyway.

On her way out, Mavis stopped by Kuni and Mila’s room to tell her other teammate, and her roommate, that if they would be welcome if they wanted to join her later. Not that she would blame Mila is she wanted to spend more time with a cutie like Kuni.

Nevertheless, Mavis would be spending most of the rest of the day in the mall. Between movies, junk food, games, and much more, she had enough to keep herself busy for a while. However, if she didn’t leave soon, she would miss the best part of her escape.

And… sure she didn’t miss it. And probably no one else would miss a slightly tall — when compared to the rest of the actual children around her — redhead waving her arms and shouting excitedly during a cheesy live-action superhero show happening in the mall. She couldn’t help but feel something pretty familiar whenever she looked at one of the actors, but she shrugged it off to the fact that repetition was a common thing in these kinds of semi-improvised spectacles.

When the time for the handshaking event that usually follows such performances came, Mavis was one of the first in the line, waiting with her autograph book and phone, ready to take some good photos with the show’s crew.

Meanwhile, at the Taiyoujima Water Park…

“Wow! You handled it like a pro,” said an impressed voice coming from not very far away from Lucia’s spot in the artificial beach.

If the Striker cared to turn toward the source of it, she would see a girl relaxing at a beach chair while having an ice-cold glass of melon & mint juice, looking right back at her. The girl was wearing a fashionable, dark one-piece which contrasted well against her fairly pale skin and silvery-white hair. Such a monochromatic look making the only spot of color in her appearance — her ruby-like eyes — stand out even more.

“I’m — hmm… sorry for interrupting you,” the girl followed up, as a light blush found its way to her face, regardless of whether she was being looked at or not. “It’s just that… the boys around here are so pushy, but you dealt with that one like it’s no one’s business. That was, well… very cool... I think?” she said, looking at Lucia in an apprehensive way, hoping that she didn’t get told off as well.

@I Need A Name

Once you've done the edits, you're ok with me as well.

@Gardevoiran

You're ok with me as well, I suppose.
PS: Now we just have to see how long it'll take for Hinami to convince Gray to go... somewhere quieter, while the boys have their drinks in a certain dapper Old Man's Bar.

Actually, I have a proposition for the name of such an establishment. It obviously needs to be "The Spider's Thread". If he has no hope of dodging Holmes for long, he may as well not even try, to begin with.

PPS: Talking about Holmes, I may try to have a post before the weekend, with everyone, especially Othis. This is a good time to make her own powers of deduction shine.

I can only wonder if Holmes is somewhere in the background of any of these scenes, inconspicuous, analyzing how the pieces of whatever puzzle he's working on are coming together?
Welp, things got very gay, very fast here.

I can only wonder what would happen if a certain pink-haired dragon girl suddenly appeared (as she's prone to at some point)?
@KoL@TheWindel

• Name: Illya Reinhardt

Hmm... hmm... hmm...

Putting that aside, since there may be more than one person with the same name in the world (sometimes):

- And where does she put her emblem when she's not transformed? Unless she does walk around the city wearing a cape at all times.

-

Volatile Wires: Her Divine Arm is her soul as a magical girl; shielding her from those who refuse to face her head on. Although it serves as the source of her power; the further it is damaged the more her electrical attacks are supercharged. Gaining strength the more critical her viability stands.

Not only does this not make any sense. It also contradicts this:

• Divine Arm: Armads: The duel-bladed axe swung with enough force to cleave dragons in two.

You can have one, not both, since they contradict one another.

- Lastly, fix that backstory. We don't ask for more than a single decent paragraph or two, but this is nowhere near it.
