No offense intended. But there's a sweet spot on the sliding scale of realism, and most of the interest checks I usually see skew too far to the realism end for me.

Can't describe how quickly I go from excited to sad when a mecha premise turns out to be realism wankery.

I've been curious and probably missed how and why it happened. Why and how did Lux and Jason get separated, I thought they would be together since they're traveling together.

<Snipped quote by Expolar>

Lux has this weird thing where he just periodically runs out of money. That happened earlier and since Lux and Jason have at least a semi-shared money pouch it meant that they kind of needed to go get more money.

Lux was on his way to the job board and he was supposed to meet Kaia on the way. But then she met Jason back at the hotel so I had Lux join the monster fight.

It's part of the devious seemingly random method used to bring three duos together through common ties created by coincidence.

Mwahahaha.
If you really want to read about what people do when given authority and the ability to abuse it, go read up on the Prison Experiment. Disturbing shit, but it demonstrates a few things. But experiments like it were banned for a reason. You might think "oh it's harmless on the internet", but it's offensive as fuck. And frankly, you'll get the same fucking demonstration in a book as you would from an RPG.

So no, you don't get to pull the "social experiment" line.

Get the fuck out.
Yes.

Racists and sociopaths.

Such as yourself.
Frankly, I could not be more repulsed by this if I tried. I have spent several minutes thinking of anything that could possibly be worse to see in an RPG format, and I haven't come up with anything. I had to discuss with an actual Chinese friend of mine, who is indescribably pissed off, if there was anything that could possibly be worse.

Turns out, there is. It's also from Imperial Japan.

I would not be more offended if you had made an RPG about Auschwitz than I am by this game, and my family is German.

I mean this with exactly as much respect as is deserved when I say that for trivializing, no, gamifying, this event you are an example of some of the worst society has to offer. I don't know if you're ignorant or intentionally offensive, and frankly, I don't care.

Learn to have some fucking respect.

EDIT: Honestly, @Crimmy beat me to it. And he has every right to be pissed off.
Cyare Staunton

@Plank Sinatra

"Excellent. Where would you expect her to be?" With her attire settled, Cyare set about a few small in-place stretches to work the lazy warmth from her body. Rotations of the shoulder, a few minor stretches of the back, neck, things of that nature. Just enough to keep her moving and get her ready for activity again. She kept her gaze directed, more or less, at Ferrara while she waited for the answer.

"If she is blind, she likely would not have gone far, correct?"
Benjamin Lloyd

Ben allowed himself a soft laugh at Lauren's antics (didn't stop him from rolling his eyes, though), but he knew she was right. These Grimm weren't smart enough to do much planning, which meant that if there were any Scavengers left then they couldn't get up over the ice wall. Killing them would be a cinch, but the wall that had kept them safe was now in their way. Still, he couldn't just shoot it. Or cut it. Both would take too long, and expend too much effort (and ammo) removing the obstacle. No, he needed to be more direct.

With a flick of his finger, he gestured for the rest of his team to cover him while he sheathed Artorius and Lawnslot. Then he started walking up to the wall, cracking his knuckles in an admittedly exaggerated show of preparation. The only real prep work was deciding exactly where to hit it to clear it out. What looked to be the weakest spot. After a few moments he decided on his target. a point about halfway up, and drew back one arm. The sound of his fist striking the wall echoed with a sharp crack, its structure developing deep, irreparable faults. The second punch, delivered with the other hand, shattered the icy barricade into a million tiny pieces that could be kicked aside with ease.

He registered the dip in his Aura reserves, but it wasn't significant enough to worry about. Especially with both batteries left in reserve.

"That good enough for you, Negasi?"

Cafeteria was easy. Just follow the smell. Probably not as good as what some of these rich assholes were used to, but it made her mouth water. Didn't smell quite as good as family cooking back home, but she could recognize the same notes. The smell of simple, effective seasons. Fresh but basic ingredients. Smells high in protein, low in sugar. Buuuut she did detect some dessert in there, too. Pie, she was pretty sure. Apple. Also very welcome. If the kitchen had looked any less guarded she might have infiltrated that, too, gotten a better look at what was for dinner. Always best to befriend the staff, too. You were nice to them and they tended to return the favor.

Dorms were obvious. And exactly as spartan as she predicted. Really spacious, though.

By her standards. She lived in a house that was more than half workshop. The workshop was bigger than the rest of the house combined. Necessary because, y'know, MECHs were big. But still. These dorms were bigger than her room, and probably about the same size when she considered she'd probably be sharing with someone else. Or multiple someones. She didn't have her room assignment yet, or she'd have been looking for it and her roomies. Still, the MCI didn't seem to have a very big class size yet; probably had to do with how new it was. KAD wasn't exactly an old concept, and an academy for it was an even newer one.

Which had a lot to do with why the MECHs in the hangar were pretty mismatched. Adapted construction equipment, farming equipment, and a few goddamn over-specced military-purpose prototypes designed by some engineer without practical knowledge... Yeah, a couple of those prototypes too. She'd reserve judgement until she saw them in action, but she was not impressed by their survivability.

Buuuut Evan was digressing from her point.

After the dorms she tracked down the med wing (exactly as extensive as you'd think for a military academy), and finally, she tracked down the library.

Now, she wasn't one for books.

But she spotted half a dozen technical manuals on MECH technologies thirty seconds after getting through the door. Maybe she'd even find some writings on United, this place was a hundred times more current with its texts than the library back home. Spirits, magic, MECHs... She could find a lot of reference material, here.

Excellent way to spend the time before that delicious dinner, if she said so herself.

And she did.
Kawaguchi Umeko

@Crimmy

"Very eloquent." The Atlesian Huntress-in-training commented dryly at her team leader, though without quite the same irritation as before. A few minutes distance from the event had mellowed her mood a little. Less so with the target of her anger, but more so with the people caught in the crossfire of her intended vendetta. Besmirching her given name was one thing. Irritating, but anyone who wanted to mess about with it was little more than a minor annoyance. Mucking with her family's name? No. She would not permit any further damage to the name that she would force the world to remember than had already been done. He nearly cost Umeko her favorite outfit with that rainbow powder, too.

And he did cost her a four hundred lien cashmere scarf. On top of ruining her leader's appearance. Teàrlag would have to go into battle colored like she'd been tasting the rainbow, and that was unacceptable. For Umeko's pride. For Teàrlag's pride. And for TSUN's pride. And that meant that this practical jokester, this hooligan, this asshole had earned what was coming to him. A personal, thorough dismantling in combat of every bit of pride he held dear.

She took a deep breath, running her fingers back and forth over the release for her weapons. She might not fight their team in the first round. Indeed, she might not fight them at all. But one way or another they would lose.

Perhaps they would be eliminated by another team before facing TSUN. She wouldn't mind that outcome; her need for retribution would be satisfied. If they were not eliminated by another team, however, Umeko would see them on the field of battle. She would not permit TSUN to be eliminated by anyone. No matter the competition, they would make it through every round until the final fight. And then they would win that, too.

She would accept nothing less.

Not from Teàrlag. Not from Nura. Not from Silver.

Not from herself.
Angel Ferrara

And thus the trap prepares to spring.

Angel's eyes lit up with the characteristic glee that came when he knew someone wanted a meal, but denied it anyway. Putting one hand in his pocket, he smiled at his feet and shrugged. Meal plans were coalescing in his head, courses forming within the cloudy, dreamy landscape of his mind. Externally, he shrugged, looked up, and smiled a little wider. In her usual attire, it was a little bit easier to avoid blushing at Cyare. A little bit.

"I'll go talk to Kaia. If you're still here when we decide on something, then we'll seeya around."

Cyare Staunton

"Do you require any aid in locating her?" Cyare asked, while she busied herself with attaching her sword's scabbard to her belt once again and making the final adjustments to her attire. She would have to wait for her hair to dry, but such things should not take too long. Finding Rei would be the hell of it. The man had an inconvenient capability, in large part due to his speed, to be wherever he wanted within a several mile radius at any given time. He might be in the inn, or he might be halfway across the city. If he did not want to be located then she would have no choice but to wait for him.

To be extremely frank, given his sense of humor, she likely had the best chance of luring him out by continuing to stay near her new associate. If she could aid in the location of his associate, and perhaps the procurement of food and additional aid for the mission, then all the better.

"It may expedite the process. Of locating my own associate, as well."
