Current I'm going to have to take a break for awhile. One of my dogs just passed; we went to bed together like we always do and when I woke up she was gone. I feel awful right now.

Had a fun birthday. Had some alligator tail for dinner, overall was pretty good for a place I hadn't been to before. Will start getting back into the groove of things soon.

Nation, tabletop and arena have been in their death throes for some time. In order of "activity", it goes: Tabletop -> Nation -> Arena. Specialized RP like those three just don't draw much attention anymore on the guild.

Leaving her alone to fend for herself? Bah. Nancy preferred to fight solo. It kept things simple. There would be no one to worry about. No one to cry over. Her father had already been a victim of the Delgatos. She didn't want anyone else to become a victim of her quest for vengeance, especially some jumpstart kid hero.

As the girl took out the final thug with ease, however, Nancy couldn't help but to feel impressed. Perhaps she was wrong about her.

"Fine," Nancy replied. "I suppose you've earned it."

A sharp audible hiss echoed in the room. The back of Zero-Zero began to transform; machine parts whirling to allow Nancy to eject from the cockpit. Placing the exosuit on stand-by mode, Nancy climbed out and approached the student, who was now carefully inching her way towards the Delgato thugs.

As Nancy approached Madalyne, she would see a girl around her age and height. Where flesh would be, most was now replaced with complex machinery and computers. Her half-robotic face would show little to no expression, as Nancy waited for her reaction.

"This is why." Nancy explained. "These implants are the only thing keeping me alive."

She glanced at the Delgatos, who had since been knocked out on the ground.

"My mother was always tough on crime. She didn't bow to them like everyone else did, so what did these bastards do? They planted a bomb to try and kill my mother. Except it wasn't her that night, and my father died trying to keep me alive."

Nancy arched her foot, and kicked one of the Delgato thugs in the ribs. The tone of her voice grew harsher, fueled by a sudden anguish, as she spoke in regards to the thugs. Clearly, some unresolved anger issues began to rear their ugly face as the memory of her near death experience came back.

"Guess what, assholes! You failed. You thought you could rid yourself of a "problem". Oh no, it isn't that easy. I'm coming for you. All of you. You can't stop the inevitable. I'm going to crush Anthony and his little syndicate for what he did, so stay the hell out of my way!"

There was a sense of calm AJ felt in her dad's response. That she was safe now, away from the monsters that attacked Coach Everett and everyone else. Still, the retelling of past events would not be easy; the trauma still fresh in her mind.

"We... the bus was stuck in traffic on our way to the game," AJ began, "when a car crashed into some other cars on the road. Coach Everett and the bus driver told us to stay put so they could go help them. Mr. Everett pulled someone from one of the cars, but then they..."

AJ paused, clearly uncomfortable. She liked Mr. Everett as both a teacher and coach. Now he was gone, and only a mangled shell of a body remained, left behind to rot on the road.

"They attacked him, dad. Everyone started to attack each other. They were biting and ripping each other apart."

She raised the edge of her sleeve up to her cheek, and wiped away a tear that had begun to form.

"We tried hiding on the bus from them, but they found us. They kept beating and banging on the door trying to get inside. We had to force the emergency exit open to get away from them."

AJ glanced out the window, wondering if any of her friends were still alive out there. She could only hope, given the circumstances.

"We ran as fast as we could, but we got separated from each other. Do you think they're okay, dad?" AJ asked. "Maybe... Maybe I could try calling them. Do you think it'd work?"

The tension rose to a breaking point, and then snapped like a twig. June broke down, apologizing for her actions. Isaac held tight on the hunting rifle, while Gus, finally with some sense, made a positive suggestion for the group.

"If it stops this from happening again." Lex began. "I just hope the commotion didn't draw any of them to us."

Looking around the parking lot, Lex scanned the nearby streets for any sign of motion. A couple infected had wandered out into the open as far as she could see, which left Lex nervous. Though they didn't seem to have caught their attention yet, who knew how many more lurked out in the neighborhood. Ever since everyone had fled the gas station, it had been eerily quiet. No dogs barking. No cars driving down the street. It was as if West Caldwell had suddenly become a ghost town.

"We've got some company." Lex explained, pointing out the nearby stragglers to the group. Hopefully they would be able to get back on the road before the infected even noticed they were there. "So, lets calm down and try to focus on the plan, okay?"

Hobbling to his feet, Isaac grabbed the rifle before June could reach for it. Or so Kali had thought before the woman broke down before everyone, apologizing for her actions in a jumbled mess of words. Though June had apologized, however, Kali took the apology at face value. She didn't feel bad for June. The woman had been rightful called out for trying to swipe the few weapons they had. There were shambling cannibals out on the streets, yet she was about to leave them defenseless against them.

Nope. She wasn't going to let that happen. Even if Kali had no idea how to fire a weapon, she wasn't stupid. A gun could keep them alive—safe from the horrors that already claimed several people she cared about. Even the one that now held the hunting rifle that her elderly neighbor had gifted them as they fled New York.

By then, however, Gus spoke up. For once, the man had a sensible idea, suggesting that the guns be left in capable hands. Kali considered the idea, finding it appropriate. Like Lex had said, giving the rifle (and pistols) to someone else could stop such a thing happening again.

Still, Kali wanted to play it safe. She wasn't going to give up anything until June was stripped of the firearms she tried to steal. The rifle was one of the few things that stood in between them and the infected that now were wandering the neighborhood, as Lex pointed out. There had to be conditions in place, more than what Gus had suggested, for her to give up something that could keep them safe.

"Once June gives up the pistols," Kali replied, laying out her demand. "Then someone can have the rifle. But not until then."
