I mean caused by something they did. There’s no way they always existed that way, dangerous magic can’t be something people are born knowing.

Ah, likely not. My hypothesis is that as their food supply dwindled, they turned to riskier arts. On a positive note, all other creatures on the planet had starved, so there was no natural threat to the population.
<Snipped quote by Legend>

That had to be an artificially created situation.

Artificial in what sense? They genuinely had no access to food.
<Snipped quote by Legend>

Not every place is created equal, unfortunately.

Some desolate locations can be just as fascinating. One society I observed had no means of growing food and instead had to channel rather dangerous magics to acquire meals.

It’s common when vacationing to want to set aside time in the future to go back again.

When the location is pleasant, I consider it the best of both worlds. Not all of them are so fortunate.

*Raises an eyebrow with a slight smirk*
Sounds to me like you’re just vacationing to new places under the guise of science.

*Laughs*
Some of the dimensions I investigate are quite nice. I maintain a directory of those worth visiting.

Focus huh? I took you for a lab scientist, not a sociologist.

I don’t have a rigorous methodology for discovering such rituals. Uncovering those processes requires field work.
<Snipped quote by Legend>

Can’t really stop them I guess.

It’s fascinating. Many cultures without significant technological growth have discovered remarkably complex and effective rituals in its place. That happens to be one of my current research focus areas.

I’ll say I think it’s backwards. Non productive and extreme.

Transplanted onto familiar societies. There are often supporting structures in place to explain, if not justify otherwise wild attributes of societies.
<Snipped quote by Legend>

That sounds primitive. Or overly, extremely pompous. One or the other.

It’s certainly an extreme reaction. But whether a culture’s values are primitive or advanced is a subjective qualification.
<Snipped quote by Legend>

I don’t know of any sort of precedent about that. I’ve never heard of that.

One can never be too careful. In some cultures, rudeness is punishable by death.
