Or vise versa? Mermaid princess kidnaps human (prince)?
Well it's the start of the war with Troy. Wellp, story time:

As you probably know, the gods of Olympus weren't really nice to eachother. So at one time the 3 main women had a little competition. They wanted to know who was the most beautiful. They let Paris decide. Paris was the youngest prince of Troy. The 3 godesses were Hera, Athena and Aphrodite. They each offered a gift. What the first two offered didn't really matter cause they lost. Aphrodite offered him the most beautiful woman of Greece: Helen (Or Helena). Now, there is just one tiny problem. Helen was already promised to the Macedonian king. Though Paris, the clever bastard that he is, kidnaps her and brings her to Troy. The Macedonian King was obviously furious and unleash the entire greek might upon Troy. Only to battle before its walls for many (8?) years. Until Odysseus comes up with this clever plan to fake a retreat and offer them a present. The rest is the common known legend of Troy.

So moral of the story? Youngest prince fell in love, kidnapped woman and unleash all hell on his city. Though some would say that Helen did love Paris.
Why stop and just summoning a bit of lightning? I'm pretty sure that if you'd summon a kraken, an entire storm would grow.

Anyway, on to the plot: we could do a Helena of Troy?
I think I have an 'idea' for the magic system. Like, instead of commanding elemental powers, you control sea creatures through magic objects. Like you could command normal fishes through a small, easily enchanted flute. Dolphins with a horn passed on from generation to generation. Eventually there would be relics from a long lost civilization of mer-people (Atlantis?). Those relics could summon ancient beasts from the depths like a Kraken, Leviathan or whatever they call that guardian of Atlantis in the Disney Animation? Again, it's just a suggestion.
Well, elemental powers would be kind of useless, don't you think? I mean, what's air or fire going to do underwater? It feels as if water is the only useful one there. If you'd like i could think about it some and come up with some suggestions.

Further wouldn't it be much more interesting that there is just one 'ocean kingdom' where all sorts of sentient sea creatures can live? (like mermaids and mermen, but also half-octopusses (looking at your there, ursula)). Who then, for some reason, go to war with the humans living at the coast. So people could chose which side they take? (humans having 'advanced weaponry like basic gunpowder muskets and cannons and mermaids having magic)? Again, it's just a suggestions.

(ps: would you make it a free or a casual RP?)
Know what, let's move this into the 'interest checks' tab and let's discuss it over there? Just tag me when you made the thread there.
The humanoid feline's scream visibly shook David. He wasn't used to such a loud noise. He immediatly turned around and saw how the teacher walked up to the group. Everywhere around them portals formed, transporting people back. Though luckily not David. Oh crap, a teacher. I'm dead. I'm so done. I'm expelled. I might as well pack my bags. David thought, while looking visibly unnerved at the large cat. The humanoid then began to talk some legal language David didn't care for. And he guessed that the mob wouldn't care for it either. But before anything serious could happen, all the rednecks somehow froze. At that moment David noticed Artimes. Now, David has never been very good around the ladies. For a matter of fact, they still scared him like he was some 12 year old. Especially the beautiful ones. So he tried to hide himself behind Alex.

Alex however seemed to think it was a good idea to taunt the rednecks a little more. At the same time, the 4 armed snake man David saw in the Auditorium was somewhere around the bubble, fighting some woman. After the brief and completely onesided struggle, he shouted something about supporting the Mutant Registration Act. "Traitor." David mumbled under his breath, deciding him and the snake guy would become fast friends soon.

Wait, did he say crew? I'm part of his crew! AWESOME! Wait, I have to play this cool. I'm part of the cool guys now. Play it nice and smooth. "Cool" he simply said, trying to make it appear like he was super happy about it. Wait, he added roommates. Wait, we're roommates. This year is not going to be boring with these guys. David thought while glancing over at both Alex and Artemis with the biggest smile plastered over his face.

But he himself wasn't done with the rednecks yet. Though he wouldn't taunt them here. "Pst, Alex, read my mind now." David whispered, hoping the teacher wouldn't hear him. It's kind of rude to come here where we're going to live and protest like that. How about we hit them where they live, tonight? He thought, trying to prove he too could be a bad-ass.
Well you probably would have wanted to place this in the interest checks section.

Also, what exactly do you mean by a mermaid RP? What would the world look like? What would the plot hold, etc etc
I'll just try something and see if you like it. But you're absolutely right that a dragon requires a lot of maintenance and are probably very hard to train (or tame). But then again they are flying flamethrowers.
So just a question: Dragon-knights (knights riding dragons) and Dragon mages (mages on dragons) is allowed, right?
