Appearance (picture or brief description):
Name: Tori Frejsdottr
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Species: Human

Aura/Symblance: Tori has a bit of a bizarre semblance, and one that caters perfectly to her personality. She can naturally see the aura of others as a bright haze surrounding their body, and at a thought, she can consciously shift any amount of her own golden-yellow aura off of her and onto another. This essentially lets her be a mobile guard unit; if any member of her team runs into trouble and their aura starts depleting, she'll know, and she'll bolster it with her own at the cost of her own vulnerability. Because of this, she has exercised and trained ceaselessly to the point of having a huge amount of raw aura.

Sexual Orientation: While it would be incorrect to say she's asexual and agender, it's close. Tori has never even considered forming a romantic or sexual relationship, though she isn’t unable to. On the off chance she does, she’s straight.

Where Are They From: A small town in the north region of Atlas

Personality (At least a paragraph): Tori is, in more ways than one, a guardian, and allergic to bullshit. Generally brusque and gruff to those that she finds even the smallest bit suspicious, she's extraordinarily protective of her friends and team members, and will not hesitate to get up in your face if you try something that endangers those that she cares for. That’s not to say she doesn’t have a fun side; in fact, she thrives on attention and loves being at the center of things, especially parties. If she views you as a threat, though—to herself or her friends—she will not hesitate to drop you. As a byproduct of this straightforward nature, she is brutally honest to everyone, and has no stomach for liars. No matter the motive. In her mind, lying is, without exception, a bad thing to do. As much as she wants to protect people, she has a tendency of not taking care of herself, and often ends up sleeping through the day because she’s so exhausted from pushing herself past when she already should’ve rested.

Bio(1-3 paragraphs): What’s that? You want to hear about my past?

Sure, I guess. Order another round, I might be a little while.

I was born up north of here. Real little town called Svartheim, barely a blip on the map. Mostly farmers, and some retired hunters like my dad. So me, my dad Bjorn, my mom Frej, and my younger brother Ander—wait, really? I never told you guys I had a brother? Weird—we all lived together in this big house in the middle of town, right? Think about that for a sec. Poor town, wilderness all around, big mansion with one family living in it, mostly malnourished, weak peasants. Svartheim’s the kind of place that draws bandits.

So I was sitting by the windowsill embroidering—hey, don’t laugh, I wasn’t always this unfeminine—when I looked out the window and saw a plume of smoke. I didn’t think it was much, but it slowly spread until there were six or seven pillars rising into the sky. I don’t know what’s going on, so I go to ask my dad, right? And he’s lying there in bed, not paying any attention. I try to talk to him, but if you think I’m stubborn, you’ve never seen my dad. I swear he rolled his eyes when I ran off too.

Outside, I ducked out of sight, just wanting to find out what was going on, when I see it: Ander is on the ground, a man with a huge sword just raising it above his head for the killing blow on my brother. And you all know me. You know that won’t stand. Feeling powerless, I reached out my hand to Ander for what I thought was the last time, then fwoosh! I felt empty and cold and useless, and I watched the sword swing down at Ander’s neck…

And it bounced.

It bounced right off him, leaving him even more confused than that highwayman.

Soon after, the bandits left permanently. And good riddance. So after I saved Ander’s life, my dad finally got a clue and enrolled me in real education. And that brings me here, to this city, and this school in general. You learn how to fight to protect something you know you love, and to not take no for an answer. What’s not to like?

Likes(At least 3): She finds polishing her gauntlets very therapeutic, and takes great pride in keeping them. In general, she's fastidious, generally taking over the responsibility of keeping her team's dorm neat.She loves nature, especially the mountains. While it's not something she likes more than anything else, per se, she enjoys exercising and is proud of her fitness (also don't tell anyone but occasionally she goes into town with a fake ID and gets absolutely smashed).
Dislikes(At least 3): Though it contrasts heavily with her general cleanliness, she can't stand studying, as she can never focus on schoolwork for very long. As a rule, she generally doesn't like chaos and disorder. Her greatest dislike, however, is duplicity. She vehemently hates two-faced people, and finds it difficult to even tolerate being around them.
Strengths(3-5): 1: Tori is...musclebound. As a byproduct of the training that strengthened her aura, her physical body grew too. She is immensely strong.
2: In her own words, “I dare you to try killing me.” Between her weapon and the sheer volume of her aura, she can take a preposterous amount of punishment and pain before ever really suffering through bodily harm. She is the archetypical ‘immovable object.’
3: Though if she doesn’t like you she’s stubborn as a mule, to those that she knows and trusts she’s a very calm person, relaxed and ready to go with the flow. She remains calm under pressure, and if the leader is incapacitated, Tori often ends up attempting unconsciously to fill their shoes.

Weaknesses(3-5): 1: Though she has a lot of aura, it’s usually dispersed around her team, leaving her with the same as anyone else, if not less. Even if she is in possession of her aura, she has no idea how to use it offensively with any technique short of “just hit it really hard.”
2: No ranged capabilities whatsoever.
3: Tori can be a bit obsessive about protection, to the point where if an ally is wounded in a battle—even if it’s barely anything—she destroys herself over not being able to help them.

Theme Song(Optional):

Extra: Tori has dubbed her weapon Frigg. It is a MDBP, or Mounted Dust Barrier Projector. With her usual straightforward self, Tori styled it in the fashion of two massive, enormously heavy full-metal gauntlets that encase her arms all the way down to the elbow, heavier than most could lift with one hand. They possess no ranged capabilities, and no special way to augment her punching force (whether it needs augmenting at all is debatable). However, she can insert vials of dust in the side and project the dust in front of her hands to form a barrier. As would be expected, different types of dust produce different types of barriers. While she only needs a single hand to create the barrier, a one-handed shield is relatively small and fragile. With hands linked, however, she can create a much more substantial breathing-room space, able to handle even a short volley of artillery fire. If she wants to further bolster the defensive capabilities of her gauntlets, she can encase the barrier of dust with her aura, leaving her personal self with less defense, but everything behind the barrier pretty damn safe.

Spark

Name: Spark. He has no real last name.

Age: Technically six, but appears more around his early twenties.

Gender: Technically neither, but presents and acts as male. For the purpose of clarity, I'll refer to Spark as a male in the IC.

Race: An Ashphol, a being born from lightning coming into contact with Talze Utera. They resemble humans, but are often strangely colored. Their natural lifespan is only four to five years and is shortened every time they use their abilities. Ashphol can instinctively and naturally manipulate their own electrical essence, giving them the ability to instantly and easily conjure anything from tiny, firestarting sparks to enormous bolts of elemental lightning. Depending on how powerful the lightning they use is, they lose more of their energy and life each time. However, they can absorb electrical energy to reinvigorate themselves and bolster their abilities. The tradeoff for this is simple: though they appear to be human, they are still entirely formed of elemental lightning, and magic users can manipulate his body as such. This essentially means that if he reveals his ashphol nature to a magic user, his life is quite literally in their hands, because he could functionally be used as a battery of electrical energy until his life is totally spent and he redisperses into the atmosphere.

Nation: Talze Utera

Appearance:

A tall, somewhat androgynous being, Spark cuts a sharp figure with his long white hair. His entire body is crisscrossed with an elaborately patterned 'tattoo' that mimics the flow of lightning through his body. Upon using his powers to channel electric force, his hair stands up on end, forming a sort of crown around his head that lightning arcs around and over. He is flamboyant, and loves dressing in elaborate, expensive robes. However, he seldom comes by them legally.

But by far, his most distinctive trait are his eyes, which are an incredibly sharp electric blue and glow brightly in dim light. They are the greatest mark that he is not entirely human.

He cannot sit still. He finds it physically painful, as all ashphol do. He must always be moving, or else slip into a terrible mood.

Personality: Spark finds human culture entirely alien. First and foremost, he does not understand laws. He is always in danger of imprisonment, because he doesn't...understand. He has tried—he isn't stupid by any means—but he simply can't. This misunderstanding with others characterizes nearly everything he does. Though ashphol are born full-formed and have a general understanding of the world and what they do and are, they cannot understand things that aren't strictly part of the natural world. This is a huge part of Spark's racial identity. Nearly all ashphol share the same characteristic as him: petulance. He is childish and finds it difficult to accept being denied, becoming petulant.

Once again owing to his ashphol nature, Spark finds it difficult to control his emotions. He bounces back and forth between extremes with little provocation, and always acts on his emotions, instead of restraining himself in any way. Owing to what was mentioned when describing his race, he is extremely cautious about revealing his true nature in any way and finds it very difficult to find friends, since he cannot implicitly trust anybody with the primary nature of his identity without literally putting his life in their hands. He is utterly terrified of placing his trust in anybody, and yet, is absolutely terrified of being alone.

As a final note, he dislikes being inside, and cannot take being physically restrained in any way, and has difficulty understanding the concept of items that are important to someone. As a being with such a short life span, he has difficulty being attached to anything.

Biography: • Born in the west of Illiserev by Talze Utera coming into contact with a terrible storm.
• Wandered for two years in the wilderness, occasionally absorbing the wild lightning of Illiserev's countless weather disasters to extend his rapidly closing life.
• Eventually wandered into the city of Illiserev properly, and with no understanding of human customs, accustomed only to the 'might-makes-right' rule of Talze Utera, killed three people with a rogue bolt of lightning.
• Imprisoned by the Talents of Illiserev who could actually deal with his abilities, a period of time that lasted all of four seconds before Spark dematerialized and fled the city, giving up a great deal of his life span in the process. He is a wanted man there still.
• In his travels after fleeting Illiserev, he learned more about human culture with each faux pas he made, and eventually became socially acceptable, if still not very good at interaction. Eventually wandered into Astopol, and currently exists there, living in the shadows and trying not to stick out too much despite his innate inclination for attention.

Abilities: Spark doesn't have abilities in the traditional sense. Instead, he can use his innate energy to manipulate electricity however he wishes, even returning to his elemental state and turning into incorporeal lightning. The tradeoff to this vast flexibility in powers is that the energy used in his abilities is the same energy that fuels his continued conscious existence. If he wishes to continue living, he must be highly cautious with how he uses his lightning and recharge it as much as he possibly can. Certain abilities carry a much greater cost, with the lowest being projecting minor sparks and the current highest being turning into electrical energy and traveling at the speed of light, which, though it doesn't need to last long, drains his energy so quickly that even a second of sustained electrical being would likely kill him.

As an additional note, though he does require food, drink and sleep, these needs are suspended when he absorbs a sufficient amount of elemental lightning, anywhere from a few hours to days on end without needing to sleep, eat or drink. His body makes no distinction between alcohol and any other drink, to his eternal and highly vocal lamentations.

Important Items: The only think Spark has that is truly important to him is a small, gnarled piece of driftwood-looking oak that he has hung around his neck. Nobody knows what makes it important to him, but the two are totally inseparable.

@ERode Yeah, that's cool. The four-year thing does seem a bit weird.

As for the rest, it would make the most sense for them to be considered an elemental in corporeal, humanoid form. So an elemental with a mind. After they 'die' they return to the atmosphere.

I phrased that very poorly. Not so much the lightning itself having prolonged contact, but a storm in which lightning is present having prolonged contact. Think of it like saturation; if enough lightning strikes in a short enough time, an Ashphol forms. And yes, the body could be manipulated by magic users. But it's not like obviously made entirely of lightning; they have a basic humanoid form. Feel free to shoot this all down if you're not a fan.

I was thinking a monster called an Ashphol, which is essentially what happens when wild lightning comes into prolonged contact with Talze Utera. They are born full-formed from pure elemental lightning, but only live for four years, at the longest. They can freely manipulate their own lightning, but doing so drains directly from their essence, slowly reducing the amount of time they have to life. That cool?
