Bio

Hello everyone. I'm Dutch, a mother of a 12-year old boy and I love both rp-ing and writing.

I've been writing and roleplaying in Dutch and English since 2002. I joined the RolePlayer Guild in 2014 and since May 2020 I'm one of the contests mods.

There are times I don't have much creative energy and will be silent for a while, but in the very least I will try to keep the writing contests going.

If I haven't replied in a while, feel free to poke me. Genuinly, I sometimes need reminders that you are waiting for a reply. I don't ghost on purpose, I promise. Time is just a weird thing sometimes, and if something happened 3 days ago, 3 weeks ago or 3 months ago can feel pretty much the same and I often don't realize how much time passed since my last reply. And if I read your reply and accidentally closed the tab there is a good chance I might forget I was supposed to reply because I lost the visual reminder T_T

Welcome to the Voting and Feedback round for RPGC#29!

It is Halloween, and I have five stories for you to get you in the mood.

Voting and Feedback guidelines
  • Please take your time to read through all the entries before voting for your favourite work. Did it make you laugh or cry? Was it the most original? Did it have the best grammar? The reasons you base your vote on are up to you, as long the vote isn’t based on whether or not you like the author.
It would be nice if you could share why you voted for a specific work too.
  • Giving feedback is optional but highly encouraged. When giving feedback you should be respectful and constructive. It’s good to point but the flaws in the story as it will help the writer grow, but don’t be mean.
Make sure to point out what you liked or what worked well too.
  • Contestant may and are encouraged to vote for and give feedback for the other entries, but don’t vote for your own entry. If contestants wish to withhold a vote and only give feedback, that is good too.
  • The entries are anonymous unless the writer asked for having their name added. That being said, writers may claim their work at any time during the voting period.
  • The entry with the most votes will win, but in case of a tie a Contest Mod will cast the tie-breaker vote.
  • You can vote for entries and post your feedback in this thread.
  • If you rather have your vote and/or feedback be anonymous you can PM it to @Calle instead.
  • The voting period deadline is November 10th, 9:00 GMT+1, which is 7:00 game time (both times are in a.m.).

The Entries

Michael and Andy went inside to gather their belongings and Pokémon. Lytse walked over to the sleeping guardian and gently poked him with his front paw.
"Mitch, everyone seems to be getting ready to leave," he said with a hushed voice so he wouldn't startle him.
Then he looked around to see where Sparky was.

Andy went to pick up Varina when he found her. "I hope you're looking forward to the party!" he said to her. "Soul! We left Niccia outside, she's catching up with her fellow mythicals."
With that he went to the room he had stayed in to grab his backpack. This would be the last day he'd be here; there was no reason to stay longer. The last few days as Michael and Niccia had explored this city, he had borrowed Mindy's Dragonite to go to the ruins of Alph to see how the search was going, but there he had basically been told there was nothing he could do to help. Which was annoying, but it was how it was.
At least he was with Frosiien again and he looked forward to that the most. Although meeting that stuck-up Galarian Moltres again could be fun.

Michael grabbed the two backpacks and checked the room to see if they really hadn't forgotten anything. Goldenrod was a great city and he was glad to have stayed here. Beating the gym, meeting the people in the daycare. Listening to the stories of his uncle when he had stayed with the parents of the current daycare owner when he had travelled through this region. With both backpacks he went back into the main area to see if all the Pokémon had gone outside as well.
Final hour before the deadline and there are 5 entries. I will create the voting thread after 9:00 CET and then we can all get in the Halloween spirit.

The voting thread will only be shown in the sidebar for a day, because tomorrow an art contest will start. But the voting period will last two weeks.
I prefer Microsoft Word, I've used it since Office 97 and while I used Openoffice for a while I moved back to MS Word within the year. I've recently started using Google Docs for documents I want to be able to share, but I noticed it gets a bit laggy when the document gets too long.
The vendor prepared both orders and when he put them on the counter, Marc paid for them and bought two water bottles to go with it. After accepting the change, he took his burger and water and waited for Sara to do the same before walking over to a bench where they could sit down and eat. Maybe it wasn't a fancy restaurant, but by the looks of it Sara didn't mind. He hadn't seen her smile this much at work.

Benjamin was eating in silence but looked up when he thought he saw movement in his peripheral field of view. Much to his surprise he saw Ari had joined him. Maybe talking to her now was not the best idea, as he had just given his pills back with the message he didn't need them, but he appreciated her presence. He glanced around, but it looked like staff wasn't paying attention to him.
"How are you doing now?" he asked her.
"I know psychic, yes," Merlin said, "but that is not particular effective against a Pokémon like Darkrai."
He tilted his head a bit as he listened to Varidol explain how long it would be and he glanced at the sky to estimate how long that would be. It would still be a while, but they also had to walk to the place they had to gather - he assumed a portal wouldn't be opened in the middle of a human city.

Michael locked eyes with Mindy when Niccia told him she had helped her pick this dress out and he smiled at her. Mindy winked in return and she turned to Varidol to listen to him.

"So the party will start right around lunch-time then," Andy stated, nodding to show his approval. "Nice. At least I hope there will be good food." He poked his nephew. "We should collect our stuff and wake up that guardian of Frosiien. If you're done gazing at Niccia's new dress."

"I'll have plenty of time to look at it today," Michael replied and he turned to Niccia. "I'll go get my backpack. Shall I get your stuff too? Then you can stay here with your legendary friends. It's probably been a while since you were alone with them."

"That's my pleasure," Marc replied and he stopped in front of the food truck. There was a couple ahead of them and their order was being prepared. When that was done the vendor turned to them and Marc ordered his hamburger first, so Sara had a moment to look at the menu and decided what she wanted to eat. When he was done, both he and the vendor looked at her to see if she had made up her mind.

With the main meal finished, Benjamin turned to the pudding that was placed in front of him and he ate that. Today he had realised again he didn't like eating alone; he needed the company of someone. First it had been Simon keeping him company, then Ray and her spirits. Today no-one and he didn't like it at all.
"What happened?" Mike asked.
Benjamin shrugged and shook his head. "It's not important, but I don't think her succubus-side is in control. But... it's there, lurking. And... I'm not even afraid of it, because I trust Steph." He caught the worried frown from Mike. "Don't worry so much about me. I'll be fine. Steph hasn't tried to seduce me once."

Rudrig poured a drink for Rose and put it on the table. "That's no excuse," he told her. "We kill vampires because they turn humans into vampires. The only difference with those spiders is that they aren't confirmed man-eaters and they get the benefit of the doubt."
He drank from his glass and looked at the content. He hoped that expert that had examined her would find a way to reverse this, but he didn't have high hopes on that. Transformations were usually definitive, like with vampires.

"If you don't like that, I've got other stuff too," he said nodded to the drink he had poured for Rose.

Last 24 hours and we have 4 entries. Which means that tomorrow we can read them!
The last 48 hours have begun. If you are working on something: now is the time to finish it, have a final read-through and submit it.

Also, we have 3 entries now.
