"No one can escape the fate given to them. All that remains is the end, where you will all perish. Eternal greatness exists only within myself. Sing a song of sorrow in a world where time has vanished."
He opened the Journal and pulled up the map. Where to go first? Should they just explore, or head to a city or town? He though of what he would do if this were an rpg game. He'd usually go to the next town to buy better equipment and potions. The starting town usually didn't have much, so he decided to trust his instinct.
"Right. Since we're just starting out, we should probably head to the nearest place. That would be...Houstank. Then again, we could just head wherever. What do you guys want to do?"
So, the perfect plan for him would be to head to Houstank, then to New Pork. By then they would need to head likely to Eyescraper, or the could risk exploring the wasteland. With a city so close, they could retreat if things went south. But on the way to Eyescraper, one direct trip would likely be to much, so they'd probably have to stop back here again, and then go from there. Lastly would be to Drain.
Unfortunately, the world is full of chance and anarchy, and with the filth as it is now, it's only worse. So it was likely that this play wasn't going to go very well, but Seth hopes they could follow at least some sort of structured plan.
Social class: Upper. He has money. Lots of it, but doesn't like to flaunt it.
Race: Elf. Just elf.
Age: 28
Appearance: Ysran is usually seen in robes, however it is not unheard of for him to wear light armor such as a chain shirt. He stands around 5'8 with a fairly thin frame, and little muscle definition.
Personality: Ysran tries not to do evil, but in the pursuit of knowledge, no price is to great to pay, and will resort to any tactic necessary. Murder, espionage, theft are just a small price to pay for the great knowledge he will gain. But when in normal situations Ysran is a sarcastic, slightly snarky person, and is almost to curios for his own good.
Magic level: Adept. While mostly self taught, he has a small amount of training and knowledge from others. He mostly learned from books, experimentation, ect.
Magic type: Occultism. Occult/Eldritch magic focuses on playing with the minds of men, usually through fear, and using powers from creatures linked to old gods or ancient beings. One of these creatures is the Fish.
Equipment: His spellbook, a few throwing knives, a machete, basic ritual stuff such as chalk and candles. There's also basic travelling supplies such as rations and waterskins.
A zombie-like minion is summoned to do Ysran's bidding. It can follow simple commands such as "Hold this" or "Go there". If told to, the Shambler will follow another person's commands until told otherwise by Ysran. It prioritizes Ysran's commands first. Here's a pic.
Ysran sends forth a large black smokescreen, and all that see within are shown monstrous, disgusting versions of their worst fears come to life. This usually makes people run away, or cower in fear.
Ysran selects a point that attracts fish, and occasionally other aquatic creatures, like a crab. The general rule is, the further out and/or bigger the fish, the less effective the spell is. After about 10-15 feet is when the spell begins to become weaker.
Ysran Sends out a large black orb that, on impact, is like being bit by a bowling ball, and bursts on impact. Though it's not a very big burst.
Bio: Ysran was born to a businessman and woman who owned a Harbor. Stormreach harbor, to be exact. He had a sister, named Lilliana, who was born shortly before him. Ysran was given the best education money could buy. Ysran had a very luxurious childhood, and was studying business so that he could work in the business. However, on his 19th year, his parents were murdered by a rival company. However, not all was lost. The two siblings, with the help of a family friend, managed to continue the business. However, Ysran quickly realised that owning a successful Harbor wasn't all it was cracked up to be. He wanted something... more. He left the business to his sister and family friend, and travelled the world looking for his true calling. After a while, he joined an expedition group to explore ancient ruins. Whilst inside, Ysran would uncover an ancient Eldritch artifact. Ysran would gain sudden insight and knowledge into the occult. His mind would be flooded with a secret language known only to the ancients, and how to cast spells related to them. Since then, Ysran has continued to look for more knowledge and secrets in any matter. Artifacts, tomes, hieroglyphs, you name it.
Reason for jumping aboard the adventure train: Money is always useful, and a powerful wizard like that is bound to have some sort of magical artifact for the taking.
Or
Name: Lance D'Phiarlin
Social class: Middle. Lance has a job with steady income as a carpenter. He makes ends meet, and still has a little left over to save.
Race: Elf. Again.
Age: 36
Appearance: Lance wears a tunic most days, however, he does still have his old equipment, and it still fits. Lance is built like a tank. Standing above everyone at 6'6, and rippling muscles all over, he has quite the intimidating presence.
Personality: Despite being larger than life, Lance tries to be a gentle giant. He tries to see the good in others, and Hopes others will do the same. However, Lance can break out his old fighting spirit and be a ferocious warrior should the need arise.
Magic level: Lance doesn't know any magic, and isn't really interested in it.
Equipment:Lance still holds his equipment from his days as a soldier. This includes but is not limited to: A suit of full scalemail, a longsword, a spear, a steel shield, steel gauntlets, and boots.
Bio: Lance was practically born into the military by a pair of soldiers, and was raised as a soldier. Being born with a sword in your hand has its benefits, and Lance learned how to use a weapon very quickly. He learned, discipline, fighting techniques, and battle tactics. He spent 30 years of his life fighting and conquering enemies, before being honorably discharged. Finding a home in a city surrounded by plant life, Lance looked for a job. Adjusting to civilian life was very difficult for Lance. He was not used to social interactions, and was not used to having such a flexible schedule. He felt lost without a structured day, or recieving orders. He found a job as a carpenter, and was very good at it, and stuck with it for the next 6 years. He felt at home. A structured day, someone to give orders to him, and he knew he was making a difference. He was happy.
Reason for jumping aboard the adventure train: He wants to protect the city, and it's in his blood to fight.
I'm having a hard time picking out a character, what would you like to see?

Seth watched as the other two picked their pokemon. He thought they looked pretty cool, or at the very least matched the trainers in some way. Scraggy had baggy... pants? Skin? Like his trainer, and the Shroomish was a grass type, matching the very... natural feeling of the other.
But what would he get? And would it suit him? Only one way to find out. He closed his eyes and stuck out his hand and grabbed the first pokeball he touched. He sent out the pokemon and opened his eyes.
"Oh hell to the yes."
Before him stood a Scyther, a very powerful pokemon from what he knew. Whether it was just a stroke of luck or fate itself, this was going to be his partner. He looked up and down at the Scyther. It seemed to be in relatively good shape. Its "Claws" looked a little dull, but that was to be expected. Other than that, he was in great shape.
He noticed the Scyther looking back at him, curiously. He seemed relieved, yet slightly annoyed. Was he relieved to finally be leaving? Was he annoyed that Seth picked him? Seth didn't know. But what he did know, was that his adventure just got a whole lot better.
Then Seth thought of how it matched him. Well, he wasn't quite a Mantis scythe wielding monster. Perhaps it could be his catalyst for being a reckless adventurer or something. Yeah that's it! Its gotta be. Or maybe... there's a side to this Scyther he doesn't know yet?
