@The Patriarch - Next hour or so pal. I didn't mind the city wide destruction as much as what most people seemed to. I did pick up on it, thinking to myself "Supe's has usually tried to drag the fight outta the city area code by now", but I just thought it was because he was new to the job, so liable to make mistakes. . . Destroying half of Metropolis being one of them. I also thought it added to the scale and urgency of the fight, making it seem less like a punch up between two pissed dudes, and more like a battle for the fate of the world.Yeah I see that. Probably would've helped though if they didn't smash through Sears, iHop, Home Depot etc lol
True, but I don't superman could have gotten them away from the city since it is very hard to contain someone who is basically your equal in strength. Also I think the destruction was necessary because it was an alien invasion and the entire world was threatened.That's the other problem though, Kal had absorbed nearly thirty years of solar radiation whereas Zod had absorbed a couple day's worth. Supes still should have been much stronger, though given Zod has the martial training but that shouldn't matter when someone is flying you through the sky. I find it very hard to get excited for DC movies with their casting and story choices these days. Their TV serials are much better however, both Flash and Arrow are excellent and despite the luxuries it takes with the comic history, I love Gotham.
Yeah but movie novelizations are kind of like fan fiction sometimes. I mean the movie is the canon and there was no evidence of that in the movie.If Man of Steel had less citywide destruction I would be more of a fan. I know Supes was more or less just learning his powers but why couldn't they battle on the moon or something?From what I heard in the novelization of the move, superman tries to fly zod into the ocean and fight, but zod forces them back towards the city

I think Winter Soldier is the best of the marvel movies.Admittedly it is very good, I did however prefer Guardians, I don't think there's any Marvel movie that I can re-watch as often as I have watched GOTG. Before this point, The Dark Knight was the only superhero flick I would put on frequently.
Nope in fact he's gotten hate from several people, he's not universally praisedAlright, technically he's not 'universally' praised, he is however widely praised and widely held in high regard. I mean the praise he recieved for the Avengers and likely will receive for Age of Ultron far exceeds even the praise received by Nolan for The Dark Knight (specifically the midquel, while Begins is very good, Rises was trash). In terms of Marvel movies alone, I'd have to say the Avengers is really only trumped by Guardians and maybe Winter Soldier.
