The worst thing about mental illness is you have to look after yourself a disgusting amount. I know it's the only way to actually be in a fit state to look out for others, but it still feels wrong.

Judging by the Internet's definitions of introversion and extraversion, you'd think everyone's either an extreme hermit or a party animal with no in between.

Bio

A frazzled British thirtysomething cat mum with something of a tea addiction.

I like a wide range of RP genres, but have two absolute favourites: Pokemon and magical girls. (If someone manages to combine the two, I'll be VERY happy!) I post fairly regularly, but sometimes shit mental health days crop up - if that causes any delays, I'll try to resume posting ASAP.

Monday? Jess felt like she'd swallowed a shard of ice. "She's, uh, busy on Mondays," she blurted. "And weekdays in general." It wasn't a lie, her mother did keep herself busier than ever with work these days, but she could tell the man's offer wasn't one of friendliness. He gave off the same cold satisfaction the watchers had. The satisfaction of predators cornering prey, leaving them helpless.

Her fist clenched around the suitcase handle as she stuck by Roxy. She knew the attempt to keep her mother out of this wouldn't work. Even if this guy didn't call on Monday evening, which he likely would, he'd still contact her sooner or later. Jess' thoughts whirled. Was there a warning she could give that this guy was all airs and graces, without letting on just what lay under them?

With a nod, she set down her suitcase once inside. She glimpsed Roxy's eye roll, caught the accompanying swell of disgust. "It's ok... Roxy and I will keep an eye on the time," Jess replied, putting a touch of emphasis on the anchor's name. It seemed like the only way to defy him right now.

She faced the anchor, whose reluctance trickled through to her, even stronger than her own. Best to make this tour a quick one. "So... Where to first?"
Ugh, sorry about the slow replies lately, had a rough time of it but things are getting better. I should be able to get back to regular posting.

Despite the warmth the man showed, little hints reminded Jess that it was just that - a show. That sudden flare of anger from Roxy at the mention of her full name made Jess' own jaw clench. Roxy's father probably knew full well she hated it. As he went on to explain her brother's absence, his excuse rang false.

"It's ok," Jess simply said, although she wondered what the real reason must be. She didn't want to follow, but shuffled forward out of sheer obligation. The closer she drew to the house, the more it seemed like a prison rather than a mansion - Roxy's sentiment, without a doubt.

The businessman's next words almost made her stop in her tracks. Her lips flattened as she fought the urge to shake her head. No, she couldn't drag her mom into this. Even if he just wanted to gain her trust, it was too big a risk - and if she saw through the facade, getting the authorities involved could make things worse. Some people got away with their crimes all too easily.

Jess racked her mind for a reply that wouldn't provoke him, wouldn't make him want to get back at her and Roxy in some sly way. "That's... kind of you," she muttered, each word too flat to be sincere. There was nothing kind about this man, that much was clear already.

Freya Leander ~ Cait Sith

@Tenma Tendo @Heartfillia

Freya had been just about to doze off when she glimpsed someone come in. Noticing who it was - and the exhaustion clear on his face - she sat up.

"Chi! It's been a while... How is everything?" Her voice quietened as she spoke the last part. A family emergency. That was all she knew about the reason for Chisato's absence. The longer the absence had gone on, though, the more alarm bells it had raised, text messages letting them keep in touch but revealing little. Now, she recognised that haunted look he hid behind a smile. A look not unlike the one Renard wore.

Despite his physical and mental fatigue, the offered snack showed that Chi's main concern was still his usual one - other people's wellbeing. Leaning forward, Freya sniffed the chunk of biscuit. The unmistakeable homemade scent made her mouth water. "Mmm, sure smells like it! Thanks!"

Returning the little smile, she pulled her blazer sleeves over the scratches on her arms and hands before reaching out and accepting the treat. More pressure on him to push himself was something to avoid. She popped a piece in her mouth, giving a purr of approval. The fact that a feline-featured person enjoyed chocolate and sweets surprised some, but Freya and her family could eat and taste a wider range of foods than regular cats could, albeit with a partiality to fish. Once she'd finished, she let out a few more purrs for both Chi and Renard. It was one small thing she could offer in the way of comfort, as were snacks of her own.

"Here." She took a packet of seafood snacks from her bag, pulling it open, holding it out to Chi and Renard. "Both of you, help yourselves." Chi in particular looked like he could do with the energy boost. Whatever had happened, though... As with Renard's situation, it wasn't anything small gestures were going to fix.
@Tenma Tendo Yep, I was wondering about the combat thing, but a mostly support role is fine. He looks like he's going to be a great team player, so that'll make for some good interaction and group dynamic opportunities.

I say he's accepted, just wait for @SimpleWriter's approval.
Hi @GoreLore, it's ok, as long as you read rules and are respectful to people OOC you should be fine. That's the most important thing.

As for characters, heroes are probably needed most, as we may have had some dropouts. More male characters, as well as students with Quirks other than Emitter types, would definitely be welcome!

Momo

@Nyahahameha @SimpleWriter @Tenma Tendo @Aerandir

Switching off the music, Momo spun round at the sound of a mumble. She blinked a few times. She'd expected Gabby to radiate cheer and confidence after the win, but instead, the other girl seemed to shrink in on herself as her posture became stiff and subdued. Had the teacher intimidated her? Was she blaming herself for the broken light? Worrying about the upcoming challenge? Whichever the reason, Momo had more than just Alex's and Erika's spirits to brighten.

At Gabby's question, her usual grin returned. "Sure, that'd be great!" She skipped over to where she'd left her bag, pulling out her phone. "Let me know when you're free! I should be most evenings, I'll just try not to get stuck in detention too much, hehehe!"

Bounding back to her new friend, she held the phone at the ready. This would be the perfect chance to get to know each other better, considering how well they'd clicked. Plus who knew, if Alex and Erika wanted to tag along at any point, someone like Gabby could help bring them out of their shells.

Of course, it didn't hurt that this girl, being the athletic type, was rather cute...
@Genon Hey, sorry I took a while, been busy. Anyway, just looked over the CS.

Hehe, another cat! That's gonna be interesting considering my character Freya, who also has cat traits, although hers are less pronounced. I can picture them having this rivalry going on because of their similar Quirks, like Kirishima and Tetsutetsu, so that could be fun.

Just a few things, though. You mentioned Albert having the speed of a cheetah and the strength of a jaguar, even though he's based on a housecat. Yes he would be faster than a regular human, and stronger in some ways, but not to that level. To be honest, characters don't need super speed and strength to be good fighters. I'd suggest either sticking with the tabby cat Quirk and giving him advanced agility and reflexes (which would work well for a stealthy character), or basing him on a big cat, like an actual cheetah or jaguar.

Also, that's rather a lot of hero gear, especially for someone who's just starting out as a student. It might be best to reduce it to just one or two items, like the cane and the grapple gun.

Lastly I recommend making him at least 15, since that's the minimum starting age in the anime.

Let us know what you decide, and @Heartfillia will give feedback too, since she recently became a co-GM.

Feeling the music bolster Roxy's courage, Jess gave her what she hoped was a resolute look. This was just the song for the situation. A reminder that they could both get through this.

Distractions and encouragements, however, could only last so long. As the song ended and an iron gate came into view, Jess' stomach knotted. The mansion ahead, had it belonged to anyone else, would have looked inviting with its elaborate architecture. Instead, all Jess could see was stony, steely artifice. A respectable facade hiding goings-on that were anything but.

The man who emerged gave off a similar air. Jess tensed as she got out of the car with Roxy, and step by wary step, approached him. Even if she weren't an empath, she'd be able to tell his smile was fake. As it was, the lack of affection to back it up made him all the more unsettling. Instead, a cold, calculating feeling hung around him like a chill.

She hesitated, then shook his hand, her own grip as stiff as the nod she gave. "Hi," was all she said.

THWACK!

A green pellet whizzed through the gym, striking the punching bag with a loud thud. The missile splattered into liquid like a paintball, yet its considerable impact sent the bag swinging to and fro.

"LISTEN UP, ROOKIES!"

Gasping for breath, Momo sat up as Gabby's hold loosened, and stared in the voice's direction. In the doorway stood an imposing red-haired woman, one sturdy arm outstretched. In her palm, a barrel-like opening could be seen. A metal disc slid shut inside the opening. "Whatever you're playing at, quit it already!" the teacher boomed, putting her hands on her hips, her glare flicking from student to student. "Break time, which some of you seem to be taking literally as a time to wreck the place, is over. If I'd had my way, I'd have taken charge of today's physical training! And trust me, nobody would make a mess on MY watch."

Everyone in the gym would know Miss Jocelyn Martenell, aka Marker Hero Ballistica, meant business. While a living paintball gun didn't sound too impressive, with her fine control over the force and consistency of her liquid missiles, Ballistica's reputation as a formidable hero was well-earned. Even so, Momo couldn't help glancing from the teacher to the punching bag. Paint trickled down its side onto the floor, revealing a tuft of padding poking from a split in the fabric. Her lips twitched as laughter threatened to bubble up. So much for nobody making a mess...

"You there! If you don't want to see me after school, you'll wipe that smirk off your face!" At Martenell's comment, Momo's smile vanished. "Anyway," the teacher continued, "you'd all better shape up for what's to come. Which, again if it were my decision, would be tomorrow! Disasters won't wait, why should we UJ staff? As it is, it'll be in a week, so no slacking off! Your homeroom teachers will explain once you head back to class. Now, get to it!"

Before leaving, she glowered at Maple King. "And you. How many times have I told you to control your goddamn class better?" Shaking her head, she stormed out.

Once sure it was safe to, Momo let the pent-up giggle escape. "Did she just call herself a disaster?" Not one to let a teacher's rant lower her spirits, she sprang up. "Woooo! You hear that?" She skipped over to her two classmates and twirled. "Something exciting's coming up! Ahahahaha! Looks like I'd better practice my dance moves!"

While Erika and Alex weren't likely to look forward to it quite so much, that just meant she had to play her usual uplifting role in the group.

Kerianne Morley ~ Nightwatch

Slowly and carefully, Kerianne stood up. Looking at the now empty hallway, she frowned. That display and attitude may have been a little overboard just now, even if preparation was of utmost importance. She approached Breeze, who'd been teary-eyed with panic as it was.

"Breeze, it's ok," she reassured her. "You didn't do anything wrong, you did great. I'm not hurt. I'll be alright, and what's coming up will be too."

Straightening her back, she glanced around at the others. "Well, good thing we made use of this time, and let's do the same with all other opportunities we get this week. From what I heard of the last official training session, it wasn't easy, but if they're throwing us in the deep end, it's for a good reason." Small steps minimising her staggering, she hauled her school bag onto her shoulder. "Whatever the challenge is, if we're well-prepared, we'll be up to it."

She took a deep breath, steadying not just her body but her nerves. Frequent training would be essential, but she couldn't overdo it and miss this event like she'd missed the last one. Finding middle ground was a challenge in itself.
