Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

My sincere apologies for doing this without waiting for a response from the Immortal but I figure he doesn't have a whole lot left to do. If he could do something to disrupt the plan then we'd all die and be forced to reboot the RP so I think this is within my limits to do.

Oh and for the record Gloria's code name is SPECTER "er" not "re". Specter is a ghost, wraith or disembodied soul generally capable of walking through solid matter. Spectre is a global criminal syndicate and terrorist organization featured in the James Bond novels. Gloria's a ghost, not terrorist.

Rather fitting that Revel would assume it to be spelled in the way of the criminal organization, eh?

By the way, Revel's pretty good at bluffing. He's bluffed that he's not a supervillain all this time after all. Unless he's purposefully bluffing badly to make people think he's a bad bluffer and therefore not expect him? Hmm.
Alright! Many thanks @Lugubrious!

I can now finally complete my CS.

Edit: Oh wait! And one more question.

Is it possible to create a spell in a language the creator made up?

Do you mean creator as in IC, or as in you? Because if it's the character, then no. Incantations are made from meaning, and an invented language (especially one known to only one person) has no real meaning. If this was integral to your character, I might relent, but I'd prefer it to not be.
Alright, question time!
  • Can the effects of Magic Warp plausibly cause an increase in a persons talent for magick?
  • Can a person learn to be talented with many affinities of magick? (But not master any)
  • How does one recover mana, is it naturally over time or does one need to ingest something?
  • Do certain magicks negate each other if used together?
  • Is there a limit to how magick can be used besides ones mana "pool"?
  • What are the differences between Standard, Elevated, and Advanced affinities?
  • Can one's mana "pool" grow, or is it only ever one size?
  • Can Perili show resemblances to any type of animal?
  • What ways are there off Spinel?
  • Is there a particular language spells have to be cast in?
  • How many different affinities can be in one spell?
  • How many spells can a person know?

I'm probably going to come up with a few more, but that's a starting point of things I'd like to know.

1. Not talent, but power. Just like raw magic, it would be pure force without finesse or subtlety.
2. Yes, but the more you have, the weaker each one is.
3. Mana recovery happens naturally. and is aided by both rest and eating good meals.
4. Maybe? I imagine you'd be thinking ice and fire, but a blue flame that freezes would be a good solution. Look for creative ways to mesh them together before negating.
5. Conduits do not tap into their wielders' mana pool, at the cost of flexibility. Raw magic doesn't drain mana, but it is very tricky to use without causing damage to oneself and accumulation of Magic Warp. Charms do not interact with a user's mana.
6. Elevated affinities are rarer than Standard affinities, tougher to work with, and harder to become proficient in multiple of. Advanced ones take this a step further. That said, those with natural inclinations toward certain affinities will get them easier anyway.
7. The mana pool is like a muscle. It grows slowly over time, with continued use.
8. Yes, from sloth to coelacanth to scorpion, though with varying viability and prevalence among the parili population.
9. Boat, teleporation, flight, anything really, people unaffiliated with Spinel are just not likely to be docking there for convenient departure however.
10. Nope, but spells created in a language and translated into a different one are always more potent in their original language.
11. Two affinities per spell.
12. Loads. Technically the only limit is practicality, gathering the resources to make them, taking the time to learn them, and remembering them all.

By the way, a property of spells is a seeming ability to become more efficient the longer they've been around and the more they've been used. learning a spell that's used by hundreds of other mages makes for an easier time, while original spells may take a while to 'catch on'.

@Guess Who he looks good to me.

Thanks, Harine!
Hey Lug I would positively love to rain hell down on Team MODA but at the moment my RL is rearing it's ugly head. I don't exactly have the time to plan out the obstacles, Grimm and character they'd mean up with so if someone else could take up the mantle I'd really appreciate it. I'll play the bad guy on another mission when I'm less busy.

@Harinezumikouken? D'you think you might be able to take over Convoy Escort? Perhaps you, @shadowkiller912?

Heh, Dream Selfie...

I actually made one of the Iron Enigma guild members with it out of boredom.

Turns out there's pretty much no such thing as orange in this chibi maker. But here's my best attempt at Fleo.

Oh, and Silver, Prince can use his magic on Nero if he dares. Don't consider it an invitation, but it's an option.
Alright, thanks Lug!

Though, at the rate I'm going, I'll need to compile a short list of questions I need answers to to confirm my CS doesn't have any discrepancies with the world you have created before I post it. Most of which so far pertain to magick and its use.

No problem. Ask away!
Probably four days or so. Finals this week y'know.

Burthstone, I'll add a list of magical ailments that I drafted on the interest check to the OP for you. It'll include magic warp.

Glad to see you're still around Guess Who!
Revel

Suppressed triumph flashed on Revel's face, soon replaced by suppressed fear, as he flew toward the Immortal and sailed over his head into the pit. "Maniac!" he yelled for emphasis while plummeting downward. Each moment, the air grew hotter and thicker, as if the barely-stabilized, raw power of the nuclear reactor eked its chaos into its surroundings. Once he was sure that the Immortal wasn't looking after him, the string-puller activated the electric surge in his gauntlets, causing the magnetic fibers of his gloves to adhere to the sheer metal face in front of him. He stopped, gasping in pain, at a halt abrupt enough to make his arms feel as if they had been wrenched from their sockets, and after spending a moment to make sure that everything was, indeed, in one piece, he began to ascend.

Not wishing to die in a nuclear meltdown, Revel ardently hoped that the others were doing his job. To be honest, he was stunned that Spectre hadn't tried to kill him then and there. She was the grudge-holding, self-confident type, quite clearly, probably thought she stood a chance at taking him down. Revel read her thoroughly, filling in with probable guess what his ability would not illuminate. For fun, he played out a duel between the both of them in his mind as he slowly climbed. If it was a straight fist-fight, there was no contest, but Revel hardly expected such a woman to fight fair. She had knives, grenades, and a power capable of reducing him to pulp. Fortunately, there was no recombination of events he could think of that he allowed her to get close enough to do so. Grenades could be avoided, and it was hard to run straight in and stab with two electrified ripcords in her face. If she attempted to use her power, Revel thought, he would grab her, either with hand or whip, and pump her full of voltage. The pain that she had exhibited when using her phasing in contact with the Immortal had hinted at an aversion to organic matter--or, at least, one of its properties.

Revel didn't think it would ever come to fighting her, however. The future glinted in his favor, as it would always.

Lug...

You make me cry with how inept I look next to you.

Don't make me feel bad!
But do comment on or even join it maybe...
After some help from other forum-goers, the world of Protea has been advanced enough to support a full roleplay! Please, if you're not too proud, give a cursory glance to the Ebon Flow!
