Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

Frenzy Plant's Elite

In their bastion in the sky, the soldiers waited. Dmitri could only do so a short time before he ground his teeth. ”Why aren't they doing anything? Barely anyone's moved!” Scarcely had the words left his mouth than he narrowed his eyes, having spotted a black stream on the move. Only one person's impetuousness and magic suited that oncoming haze. ”Ah! Spoke too soon. First on the chopping block's none other than Nolan Waltz himself!”

Zander snatched up his blade, having come to the same realization only a second sooner, and leveled in in the God Slayer's direction. ”The very one we wanted to take out as fast as possible...and all alone, it looks like. Yet it can't be this easy. He must know we know that his power increases as he gets angry and hyped up. To try and take us on by himself right at the start...be on your guard.”

A fiery stone finger was outstretched as Dmitri pointed. ”Look! He's not alone. Firebird's coming along for the ride.” He shrugged. ”Makes sense that the two fliers would attack together. Still, makes our job a hell of a lot easier.” His veins began to glow with volcanic heat. Taking his cue, Owen took the opportunity to couch his rapier in order to cast a spell. Neither of them took any notice of the ashen orbs hurtling toward the Howling Djinn's Keep. Not even Zander, most careful and deliberate of protectors, paid it any mind.

At the very bottom of the tower, a lone woman watched from the floating fort's doorless entryway. Flamberge in one hand and parrying dagger in the other, she glared at Nolan and Penny when they launched an attack. Her eyes tracked the fire-infused projectiles as they drew ever near her, and Hyun muttered to herself, ”The insolence of it. Instantly splitting up and trying to attack us when we've got every advantage...what do you take us for!?” She assumed a pure offensive stance, holding her jagged sword above her head. ”Maybe this will teach you imbeciles the price of arrogance.” With a kiai, she swung her blade, and a wave of white distortion passed from the metal into the air. It traveled quickly, leaving no trace in its wake, and it grew in size as it did. Nolan's ash orbs, with Penny's explosive flames hidden inside, screamed toward Frenzy Plant's tower, but when they collided with Hyun's wave they fizzled out like candles snuffed out between someone's fingers. All they could do was hiss weakly before vanishing, completely nullified.

Though they almost certainly couldn't see her from this distance, Hyun gave the two members of Phoenix Wing a condescending smile. She lent an ear to listen, and in quick succession heard her allies call out,

“Steel Sky!”

“Hekaton Meteor!”

“Scarlet Sunbeam!”

The air glimmered in a broad area around Nolan and Penny. Magic circles appeared by the dozen, and from each protruded a long rapier blade. Quite suddenly, the sky around them was filled with spikes. From his position atop the Howling Djinn's Keep, Owen watched carefully, ready to summon walls of spike-protruding magic circles from afar in order to cut off a foe's attempt at escape. At the same time, Dmitri brought to life six flaming magic circles, from which launched large hunks of molten rock at high speed. Barely contained in solid, meteor-like form, they would return to lava if subjected to any trauma. Like cannons firing in sequence these circles launched the meteors at the area defined by Owen's bladed boundary. The icing on the cake was Zander; his outstretched ruby sword began to glow with brilliant red light, and from its end burst a laser beam about six inches in diameter that effortlessly closed the distance between the warriors of the two guilds. Though difficult to aim at this range, the Scarlet Sunbeam would not be fun for anyone hit by it. Just as planned, the enemy fliers were in a predicament: in order to avoid the agonizing heat of meteor and laser alike, they would need to dodge or counterattack. Any dodging risked impalement on Owen's floating remote blades, however, and any counterattacking meant either spreading lava or attempting to take the brunt of a concentrated laser straight on. All the while the tower floated closer. By now, it had left the arena, much to the chagrin of the captivated audience.

Hyun continued to observe, ready with her blades to cancel any more magic attacks that came her guild's way. She wondered what the enemies would do to counter three calculated spells at once, but she figured they'd find a way somehow. Still, the absolute defense her Nullification Magic afforded her guild plus the brutal ranged offensive of her allies, which many might have underestimated, added up to a seemingly flawless strategy.
Abel Fulgurate

Because he was listening attentively to the mornings birdsong, Abel picked up on the unique noise made by the Sea Legs hitting fairly quickly. The weaponized clothing, containing almost as much dust as they did wood, managed to be distinctive without being a dead giveaway. Nobody would think twice about the noise not having known what it was previously. On tile, though, it would have been a different matter. Abel bet that the clatter they'd put up would put clogs to shame. He returned the wave of Krysanthe as she approached. “Good morning, Krysanthe! Not at all. Thanks for coming.” A slight pickup in the wind caused him to look out over the cliff at his destination: the Emerald Forest. From here, it looked just like a green ocean, just waiting for a couple of intrepid hunters to jump in.

“So this is the spot where the other teams got started. While the rest of us were running amuck in Forever Fall, half of the students were here.” He bent slightly to look over the edge, and gave a sound of consternation. “Hm. Cliff's a bit higher here, and there's no ziplines.” Next for inspection were metal plates on the ground. He'd seen them before, but hadn't gone near them. “Guy in a hoodie told me they used these to launch 'em off the edge. People had to come up with their own 'landing strategies'.” He glanced at Krysanthe. Not for the first time, he wondered why -and simultaneously thanked his lucky stars- such a knockout was hanging out with him. No matter—he would make sure that he did not disappoint. If most people tended to think he was dull and cautious, he would show them today.

Clutching his partizan, the guardian inhaled deeply and pointed it over the edge. “Whaddya say we give it a try? I always wanted to fly. Nice bit of excitement to get the morning going.” He smiled as he suggested it, his mind racing to come up with a 'landing strategy' of his own.
Emerging from the thick trees into Feyhollow Town came with all the impact of discovering a lost civilization. Of course, the well-cultivated little settlement didn't so much interrupt the forest as dominate it; here, trees still loomed overhead, the grass was just as green, and all kinds of flowers dotted the sides of the paths, but human influence could still be felt clearly. In fact, the image of wooden buildings nestled in woods formerly full of mystique created a comfortable, rustic atmosphere. Birdsong and refreshing breezes replaced the oppressive gloom of the forest. Normally, Olivie would have been happy to take her time and see the sights, but with three injured Pokemon in tow and the night not too far off, she decided that visiting the Pokemon Center was a priority. To that end she let Bernard, albeit grudgingly, lead the way.

A few minutes later, the two were seated on folding chairs near the Center's main counter, waiting for the brunette's crew to be healed. The waiting went by in quiet, not exactly tense but by no means relaxed. Simply being near the girl he knew to be volatile put Bernard slightly on edge, while Olivie did not loosen her surly appearance. All the while Bernard's Painkiller, his shiny steel not at all besmirched, leaned idly against a pillar. His intimidating appearance drew Olivie's eye. ”So,” she began, breaking the silence at last. ”I guess your Pokemon's pretty cool. Sissy ones, or ugly ones, make me mad, but this guy's seriously strong. Like a knight. How the hell did you catch him so fast?” She crossed her arms as she leaned back, making sure to correct her posture. Nothing would bring on the aches faster than slouching forward.

For a moment Bernard seemed confused, but he came to a realization before Olivie could grow impatient. ”Oh! You must think I just started as a Pokemon trainer, like you. The, uh, the truth is, I've been on a trainer since I was fourteen. That's when I got started. My first-ever Pokemon was Starly, but she's a Staraptor now. Want to see her?”

Olivie frowned. Did she ask for his life story? “No.”

While taken aback, Bernard managed to recover quickly. ”R-right. Well, I got Painkiller as a Pawniard and evolved him into Bisharp. He's my best fighter by far.”

Out came the brunette's Pokedex. A quick scan of Painkiller, who glanced her way in curiosity at what she was pointing his way, logged his entry in the Pokedex. In a chipper tone the device recited, “This pitiless Pokémon commands a group of Pawniard to hound prey into immobility. It then moves in to finish the prey off.”

While this happened, Bernard watched Olivie's face. At the entry's end, her features shifted, and in response he flinched slightly. A worried expression came over him. ”Y-you, um, look a little mad.”

”Yeah, I'm a little pissed,” Olivie admitted, certainly looking the part. The hard lines around her mouth and eyebrows made for an expression that approached 'livid'. ”Last time, I said I'd battle you the next time we met, but if Painkiller's real strong, then we're just gonna get stomped. That puts me, the type who likes to be doing the stomping, in a bad spot. But I'm never gonna ask anyone to hold back, either.” Just then, she heard her name called from the counter. When she approached, her three Pokemon stood, healthy and awake, on the polished surface. Buck wasted no time hurling himself toward her, slamming like a furry torpedo into her chest in a full-force hug that nearly drove the wind out of his trainer. Wheezing slightly, Olivie hugged him back. ”Looks like you're in good shape. Don't headbutt me next time.” With that said, she let go, and the Bidoof plummeted to the ground. He didn't seem worse for wear, though. When Olivie glanced at her remaining Pokemon, the Cacnea gave a ghastly grin, its spiky arm outstretched, as if to say, I'm up for round two. The Karrablast reacted the least.

After she took a step toward it, Olivie reached out for the blue bug. It instinctively shied away from her touch. Its reluctance to acknowledge its master made the nineteen-year-old annoyed, but she did not take action. ”Well, we haven't seen eye-to-eye yet. Maybe you're the type to be shy unless it's in a battle. That's fine. As long as you fight with everything you've got, we'll get along.” She threw a peeved glare at the Poke Center employee, who'd been watching with a small smile on her face. ”What? Mind your own business!” The sharp words caused the woman to recoil, but Olivie was already walking away, with her three Pokemon behind. Buck plodded along at her heels, while the Cacnea tottered just behind, and the Karrablast brought up a substantial rear.

When she returned to where Bernard was sitting, she did not sit down. Perplexed, he waited for her to speak, and she did not make him wait long. ”We're gonna battle you anyways. If you've been doing the whole Trainer thing for years, I bet you've got a couple Pokemon that aren't as psycho as Painkiller.” She slammed her fist into her palm—a gesture that managed to be mightily threatening for a chick with a Bidoof. Her Cacnea, eager to look tough, mimicked the gesture, while the Karrablast looked on in bewilderment. ”...Right?”

A quiet few seconds passed. Clearly, Bernard didn't know whether to be intimidated or excited. Once he composed himself, however, he mustered up a determined smile. ”Yeah, I've got just the thing. We can make it a three-on-three.” As he stood, his Bisharp moved as well, sliding close. In tandem, the two struck the same pose back-to-back, with Painkiller looking backward over his shoulder. ”We'll take you on!”

Now it was Olivie's turn to be bewildered. Stepping back slightly with furrowed brows, she remarked, ”What was that? When did you become such a weirdo?” Even as she said it, though, she could not keep herself from grinning. ”Let's hurry up and take this outside.”

Exiting the Pokemon Center, the two scouted a likely location to throw down.

You probably ment this as a joke, but it seems childish and in poor taste. You don't make fun of someone when they are trying to make a point, no matter how ridiculous the subject may seem. Its rude and immature. I laid out my point of view, and your reaction seemed to be "Ahahaha, whatever."

Now I like cracking jokes, as you can probably tell, and I'm not offended in any way but I ask that you give some thought to how the other person might feel before you make fun of them like that.

If that's the case, then I implore you practice what you preach by sincerely taking into account this point of view: you're the only person in this RP who gets worked up and makes a big deal about nothing in a confrontational manner. I don't know how you alone picking on me for something utterly insignificant and me not caring means you've got the moral high ground.

If you weren't offended, you wouldn't have written up a paragraph calling me names and trying to tell me the right way to treat people.

If this is about being right, then sure, you're 100% right. I was wrong in my statement about fire and wind, but if the people who are directly affected by it don't think it matters, and I don't think it matters, why is it worth pursuing? Just let it go. You can rest assured, however, that I would not offhandedly dismiss anyone else in the RP.
@Lugubrious Heyyy! You showed! Does this mean you're in?

Not yet.
Whew...this takes me back.

Bit of a logical fallacy there.

The fire burns continuously because it has fuel. Wind does not continuously shift, if it did, we would have tornados that never died. Obviously she could keep it going longer by conserving magic (ie energy), and I agree that it would take less magic to sustain it then start it. I just think your analogy is off. A better example would be stirring a thick shake (since that is, essentially, what is going on.)

...fuck it, Newton's first law pretty much explains it.

Edit: In retrospect, that is a pretty massive spell she has going. Believe it or not, Air is heavy, and moving that much at that speed...damn.

Edit 2 Here is an interesting, and relevant article.

Now, I'm not saying it's impossible, we are dealing with a fantasy world with fake physics, but by any logical means, such a spell would be very magic consuming and relatively short lived.

Although, the idea is awesome enough to be handwaved by the Rules of Cool.

You've wasted your time.
That'd take some serious patience. Indigo is the most proficient magician in the guild, and she's not planning on using any other spells for the duration of the event. Simply keeping the tornado going doesn't take as much magic as getting it started (after all, fires started by magic don't require the pyromancer to keep feeding the fires to make sure they don't go out) so she can go for hours. Not much more than that, but still.
