History
Even before the Third World War began, California had always considered a referendum to leave the United States. Many left-wing politicians and wealthy citizens had been funding Yes California, a committee that promoted the secession of the state. However, many citizens did not want to leave behind the United States until the invasion of North Korea. The Second Korean War resulted in the destruction of Busan and the battle of Shanghai, which alone killed millions of American soldiers. Once the remaining military force returned to San Diego, they were welcomed by protesters.

Los Angeles, San Jose, Long Beach, and all of the major cities in California were protesting against the government for the unnecessary war. When word about the Washington Massacre reached California, the protesters were now demanding California to secede from the Union or they would start rioting on the streets. After a week long discussion, Governor Jerry Brown announced that California would be the first to secede from the Union due to the events at Washington D.C. The citizens celebrated the massive victory all over the coastal cities while inland towns and cities were disappointed with the decision.

The remaining US military from Korea went to China Lake, Edwards Air Force Base and Fort Irwin to re-establish communication with the dying United States. While they were getting word from the President, Jerry Brown managed to annex Nevada in a deal with their governor. And the small military quickly establish law and order in Utah and Wyoming; however, they took some of land to expand California's control over North America. After the two month period of expansion for the new nation, the United States military decided to approach Brown with an offer: allow the United States to run California Republic or they will attack Sacramento and let it burn.

Brown, faced with the whole fury and might of the United States military, had no choice but to surrender his position. In the matter of hours, the President assumed complete control of California Republic and ordered the police and military force to impose law and order until peace returned to the republic.

Now, on the beginning of 2018, the old United States has fallen apart with undemocratic nations taking rise to this opportunity. And it was the California Republic's job to defend democratic values while thinking of a way to restore the United States.

Military Forces
The military force is heavily based on the United States military before the Battle of Shanghai and the whole mess with North Korea. Plus, with the remaining United States military on their side, it was safe to say that California Republic had the most powerful and biggest military out of them all. However, they lacked in moral and organization since the massive defeat in Korea. And they were looking to gather any remaining allies from NATO that were willing to support the restoration of order in America.

Of course, there also was the police force has got more powerful since the Washington Massacre. Given military grade weapons and equipment, they were ready to handle any sort of uprising and end it before it spread too far. However, only police forces in the major cities and hotspots were allowed to get the equipment. And once things cool down, they were stripped of their gears and replaced with the standard police equipment.

After two months of planning and waiting, it was time for the United States to regain control of California. The United States military from all over the country gathered at Edwards Air Force Base to plan out the attack. Most of the territory that California had wanted the United States to regain control besides the coastal cities and the inland cities.

On September, the military began their attack against California's government by striking Sacramento while the cities were dealt with the help of the National Guards, police, and some of the military. After bombing the State Capitol, it was reported that Jerry Brown among with the politicians were killed in the bomb run. It took a week to conform that Brown was killed

How about the thought of donations? I heard that someone said that they did not work the first time around. Why was that? And are you guys (the mods) will be thinking about reviving donations. Because, I am willing to donate money every month if it means saving this site.

@Isotope Any ideas specifically on what causes that, how we can fix it, if there is even a clear problem or if people are just not interested in NRP? I've tried a few times, and never got lucky with good GM's it seems.

As someone that often goes to the NRP section and roleplays there, I have to say that there are a lot of roleplays that died due to a lack of communication. And communication is a must if you want your NRP to be successful. If the GM or an important player disappears without warning, then the rest will just leave. The users there, in my opinion, are the types that you need to watch for. Because, they will either disappear on you or start drama. If you look at some of the old threads, then you will see how the roleplay died. And the GMs don't seem

The solution to dealing with the NRP section (and I know that some of them might hate this) is to delete it. It will never become popular because we barely have any GMs determined to saving their roleplays for the jaws of death. And we have users that often leave one NRP and join another. I am not sure if it's worth saving the section at all given it's current state.

And I should mention that there are too much sci-fi and fantasy NRPs to count. Not enough roleplays that are unique get the attention that they deserve. I agree with what @Isotope said in his post about how NRP will never become a popular section. I hope that the rest of the NRP community takes a look at our comments and have a discussion with us.

@Garattee, instead of having three casual subforums, why not have only two? Regular Casual and High-Casual. Regular would contain the usual guidelines. High-Casual would be the middle ground between casual and advanced, where users can roleplay instead of picking one side.
