Marian approached the Dreadnought. A being that had served the imperium well for many centuries was one to be respected and revered. The pair of them bowed before him, before she stood up and clicked her heels together, saluting him. "My Lord, we have a message, straight from Officio Perfectus Headquarters." she said, the Servo-Skull that had been floating behind her flew towards the giant, tank of a coffin and plugged into a small port in the front. On the Dreadnoughts H.U.D. the Inquisitions stamp appeared in front of his eyes, before a short video message played, audible and visible only to him.

"Captain, my name is Lord Inquisitor Marian of his holiness' Ordo Hereticus. I am here on urgent business. This is an off-the-books mission, nobody is to know who I am and what my mission is. For this reason, not even you will be made privy to the mission specifications. All that I will inform you is that this mission is of the utmost importance to the Ordo Hereticus, and that, if failed, many Human lives will be put in danger. You are to inform your men that my name is Lord Commissar Marian, sent to take command of the conscript Planet Defense Force." She then unbuttoned her blowse and revealed the glowing tattoo of the Inquisition seal on her stomach, just under her right breast. "If you require further authentication, please ask behind closed doors."

Message from Ordo Hereticus

As soon as the message finished, the Inquisitions seal appeared again on the screen, before the message deleted itself from his battle-processor. The Servo-Skull let go and it's glowing red eye flashed yellow, before turning green, before turning back to red, indicating that the Servo-Skull had just done much of the same. Now, the only copy of the message was left, was held within the Dreadnoughts human mind. "I trust there are no problems, my lord?" she asked.

alright, I'll try and get a post up tonight. It'll probably have a little retconning to make up for Caliban's exit.

A Transformers (not Bayformers) roleplay?

Interested. Also, I vote for the Prime Setup, where the Cons have the distinct advantage, with access to more soldiers and equipment, but are still in the preparation stages of full scale invasion.

Not a fan of grimdark "All but a few are dead" settings when it comes to Transformers.

Also, I believe that Human characters can work in Transformers, they just have to feel realistic. Which is why the kids from Prime worked much better than most other Transformers humans. Jack felt like a standard teenaged kid with a strong moral compass, sure he fucked up every so often, but he always meant well. Raf was the strongest character because we all know somebody like him, someone who was shunned by the real world and so escaped into the virtual one, but just needs some "not assholes" to help show him that the real world isn't as bad as you think (I know this kid exists because I was this kid). Which is why Miko was probably the weakest character. She seemed like a teenaged pop-rocker girl, as written by middle-aged men.

The Inquisition holds no sway over the Adeptus Astartes, they they completely separate organisation who cooperate due to ancient pacts of support given at the time of the First Founding. A High Lord Inquisitor would have no additional authority to give orders to a Lamenter compared to a Lord Inquisitor.

The note is addressed to 'Commander at Hive City Acane', which would mean either the commander of the local PDF or the civilian governor, depending on the local hierarchy, but has no bearing on the Space Marines. She appears to be trying to use a specific order as a carte blanche to requisition any assistance she can, something which as a Lord Inquisitor she could do anyway.

Why would the Space Marines accept a note without any form of identification instead of a far more secure electro-tattoo? It's possible this piece of parchment is either a forgery or that it's been taken from the original owner. Verification of the document would be required before it could be of any use, and that would take time, communication with the office of High Lord Inquisitor Fyodor Karamazov and would increase tensions between Marian and the Marines which could've been avoided had she simply introduced herself as a Commissar.

If she'd just flashed her tattoo and said "Inquisition business" the Marine would've simply accepted her authority until such time as she proved a threat to the sanctity of the Chapter, with no further explanation of her actions required.

I really should have mentioned that the letter to the space marine on the steps didn't have any mention to the fact that she was an inquisitor. As far as that guy is concerned, she's just on a mission from the Officio Perfectus. So, if he blabs, then he's just telling the enemy lies, which is of no harm to her mission. I thought that was implied, being that, as you said "Why would she reveal it to only the captain and a grunt?"

Because if she flashed her tattoo here, then everyone would know. And as stated earlier, the less people that know that the Inquisition has interest in this . Instead, a letter with the unfakable seal of the Ordo Hereticus on it is good enough for now. I was thinking that she flashed it later, as he would, of course, want to question her in private. As for the guard, the same, only with the Officio Perfectus. That is a seal that cannot be faked. The only way to get it would have to get it straight from the head office on Holy Mother Terra, a place which Chaos cannot touch.

Also, Space Marines respect the chain of command, when a letter comes from Holy Mother Terra, they tend to not question it. If there is one thing you need to learn is that Humanity is kinda stupid... Just, as a rule in 40k. I mean, their whole system is based on the ideology that "To question your orders is to know doubt. To know doubt is heresy, which is punishable by instant execution."

Because she doesn't trust the captain not to tell his closest men. Because, as far as he's concerned, this is just something to further her own agenda, and telling one or two of his closest men that he knows won't talk, would be helpful to him. However, a message from the head of the Ordo Hereticus is something that you follow to the exact tee if you value your lack of being on fire.
