How do you mount an attack in a high level swordfight without just being dodged and countered? (not complaining about my current battle btw) I'm just curious.

Well, I recently went via the method of using my initial cut to force my opponent into dodging in such a way that I could follow up with a super flying knee that threw them half way across the room. The trick is to hide something behind the initial attack, in my experience, a move that serves a single purpose is a waste in chess, when you move a piece into position while simultaneously opening up a line for another piece to attack you have proper economy of movement. Think in terms of forks, attacks in two places at once, maneuver your enemy into that corner and then kill them, no fight is a series of unrelated moves, almost every move should be a building block towards something lethal.

But yeah, dunno, that's just the way I do it. Works most of the time.
Not quite sure where you got that impression from; the few times i did use a sword, it was either too short of a fight to judge, or i just got my face done in by Schradinger. :P

But yeah, it probably is right to say that i have a general understanding of how i should approach a melee; that being said, i'm sticking to my guns and bringing in the martial artist battle mage robot ninja i've planned on using and pummeling erryone with my magic enchanted fists. And sticking them with a bladed tail.

Just some of the comments you made in the mock fight I did with Sathanas a little while back with wooden longswords.
@Vordak You should stick to your strengths if you want to wreck face, you definitely know more about swords and swordfighting than I do, make a swordsman and kill some peepz.
The input is much appreciated. I feel like i'm now a step closer to becoming a master in playing pretend. :^)

Speaking of your mastery of play pretend, you're living up to your title of the Grand Procrastinator at the moment.
Yeah, got to agree with Nexus here, Sandbox RPs give -everyone- near complete freedom in world building, establishing guidelines for something as broad as magic and expecting everyone to adhere to the rules you've created is highly questionable, unless you happen to be the GM. Make whatever rules you like for your own characters, don't force it on others.
Also, update: @Fallenreaper@Melonhead@Athinar Posts are going to come a little slow. I was going to take a crack at them this morning, but I unfortunately forgot my roommate's birthday was today, I now have to go emergency shopping for a birthday present.

Aight
@NattyThat's pretty much the only route open unless someone wants to read over 600+ posts. Lol. And to have a character be pre-established. Unless this RP doesn't care about retroactively changing things, then it's not an issue.

To be honest, I read about 6 pages back and got a pretty comprehensive grasp on everything of note happening, as long as you're new to the city so past events don't really matter as much at any rate. Otherwise it could be a little hard to explain what the hell you were up to when everything was kicking off.
Having contemplated this for a while and experienced the subject matter firsthand (courtesy of MelonHead), i'd like to ask all you folks (and i might as well pose the same question at the GCL while i'm at it) whether you agree or disagree with me that offense in a roleplay melee is harder to execute properly than a defense?

Depends on the context, but I'd say that's wholly true. The main weakness of a defensive play style is that a mistake gets you killed, but people don't really factor in the things that can cause mistakes, every block is perfectly timed and every counter flawlessly performed. It's a particular issue in lower tier combat, I can't remember the last time I saw someone debilitated by pain or actually afraid of something. Basically people write combat robots, always have, probably always will.

Best feedback on a character i've had in a very long time. Very constructive and to the point. Thanks for that :)

Now I have to decide how to rebalance things. Or simply buff the armor and shield. But If I go for that It would be no fun. Very high damage output and superb durability won't lead to interesting battles. You gonna have to give and take to keep things fun. Maybe some sort of gap closing ability or ilusion to divert attention.

I know, I need a tank with CC :)

No problem. You just have to decide what level you want to fight at basically. High tier characters are rated as such because of their sheer flexibility, they either have insane physical capabilities or magic of similar effect. They can usually fly, fight at extreme range and either protect themselves with magic or tank damage with their power. A good gauge is to imagine your character against a modern day armed force, perhaps a squad of riflemen with a tank. Would they realistically shred you to pieces? If yes, you're mid powered or lower, if no you're high powered or higher.
Well, it seems like only the initial week or so (IC) is time sensitive for this Arc, the infected individual has to be kidnapped early on and delivered to Gene Co, once that is resolved one way or the other the time skip wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. Depending on where Racheli ends up the time skip can be attributed to her allies planning to free her, or her hiding underground and waiting out the Virus' progression.

Just my take on it, uninformed as it is.
