I wish I could figure out a better analogy. If magic cuts you open to remove a tumour, then the Sevenfold Covenant kills the tumour and lets the body get rid of it on its own. If magic is a pacemaker, the Sevenfold Covenant is a heart transplant. If magic is dialysis, the Sevenfold Covenant is a better kidney.

More efficient. Why reach in and remove a tumor when you can change it so that it's impotent? Not that that's necessarily possible, but the same applies to the Sevenfold Covenant. We don't waste energy, time, or risk to do things in the natural way. Instead, we make the unnatural way natural so that--well, the body fixes itself.
