It feels like a thick liquid when I'm not using it, or when it's not being touched. But if it's touched, then you can feel you hand sinking into it. It's quite thick, and the smell hits like a hammer.
I would much rather not.

Blood magic doesn't have rot. Necromancy does, but blood evidently doesn't. My cloak and robes haven't rotted yet, and they'er made of blood magic.

Back home, most magic is banned as "too dangerous", such as demon summoning, necromancy, and blood magic to name a few.
