Depends on the type. There's souls that are the heart of a spirit, there's souls that are the culmination of a living entity, there's souls like darkloids come from... Generally a soul is a metaphysical core of a being. Rarely there'll be physical ones, but those are incredibly uncommon.

Well, from what little I've been able to learn about them, I'm guessing it's some sort of soul magnification. Or an equivalent to one, at least. One of them seems mostly the same, but the other is very different, which makes me think it's more like my old splitting than like your Mother's. I'm still trying to figure out more, though.
