Bio

Howdy all! I figured it was about time I spruced up my bio section. Or, y'know. Wrote something in it other than WIP.

So! Things to know about my mostly-good self:

I'm a 20 year old female, hailing from a not-so-small town in the north east of England. I'm currently about a third through my second year at Uni, and have made some awesome friends there so far. I also debate. That's always fun - arguing has always been an annoying trait (for others, that is) of mine, so putting it into something one can have on their CV is great. The competitions are super fun too. Anyway, roleplaying.

If you've known me for a short or long while, you'll likely know what an absolute slut for fantasy I am. High fantasy to low, I love those kind of roleplays and will nearly always be interested in new ones that crop up. The same applies for Sci-Fi, but at the moment, I'm not feeling inspiration for a good ol' spacefaring RP. Gotta get the Mass Effect out again, get me craving some Turian booty again. However, I won't go for only these ones. SoL can interest me if they're run properly, alongside horror, mystery, romance, etc. I won't ignore something simply because it doesn't have magic or flying bears in it or something. As for level, I like to consider my writing high-casual to low-advanced. Hopefully others will agree with me on that one, haha. Anyway, here's a list of specific fandoms I enjoy, kind of in order of preference:

  • Lord of the Rings Universe (Including The Hobbit)
  • Dragon Age series
  • Elder Scrolls
  • Mass Effect Trilogy
  • Star Trek (I'd love a Discovery one right now!)
  • Star Wars (Specifically the time around the Prequels; while I shan't get into the whole Prequel/Original war on which is better, roleplaying makes for more excitement in the prequel era. Clone Wars guys, c'mon!)
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer
  • Fringe
  • Greek Mythology (PJO, but with the amount of Camp Half-Blood roleplays that have come and gone, I'd prefer one based more on the Original Mythologies)
  • Norse Mythology
  • Marvel
  • Left 4 Dead
  • The Walking Dead (Or any Post-Apocalypse Roleplay, really.)
  • 'A Song of Ice and Fire' Series
  • House of Night Series
  • True Blood
  • Deus Ex
  • Blood Ties
  • The Vampire Diaries (I admittedly abandoned the show and books when the plot got too boring, but I still like the Universe. I'd join a roleplay based in it, if it had original characters, that is.)
  • Pacific Rim

Aaannndd I'll stop the list here before I go on forever. Basically there's a lot, particularly in the realm of fantasy. Hit me up if you want me in your roleplay, of if you'd like to do a 1x1 based around any of those areas, or even some additional ones if you think I'd be interested. I love original plots and Universes too, especially if they're done well.

@Tominas
I was just defending the contents of my post. No need to suggest I "relax" as if it were unjustified. If you want to disagree with me, I'd be happy to hear your opinions in a PM - as Vicier said, it needs to stop clogging up the OOC.

@Vicier
I understand - I like the others was simply anxious to get the ball rolling. (In all honesty, I didn't even notice the SoL tag when I joined haha - I just saw Overwatch, got excited and jumped straight in, assuming it would be action centered. Shame on me for not reading all the tags!) Apologies if this has thrown you off - but on the bright side, at least all of the characters not currently at the Overwatch base can come together now!
@Caits

Just gonna bring you back to this post. While I'm not wanting to dredge up past issues involving other people, I have to think you're being nit-picky at my Virgil post now, especially compared to the previous one. You said things such as "not everything is exact-people are different" and "this is a roleplay with a talking ape and a dog that is definitely not normal. And you're arguing about the accuracy of an illness?", but when it comes to my own post - which is definitely not in the realm of ridiculousness or improbability as you're stating - I have to be absolutely, medically correct while taking into account every possible drawback and negative side-effect?

Also, you're assuming that he's taken enough Diazepam that it would be negative, and also assuming he isn't feeling any negative effects from his sleep deprivation? You're blowing the contents of my post out of proportion. Virgil may have taken one tablet to relax or attempt to go to sleep (that half-hour "Snooze" that was mentioned), but I didn't think to say how many he took because I didn't think anyone would care?

@Vicier

Sombra needs to look after her favourite drinking buddy! It's not really a mission, just a favour.
@Caits

Cheers for the advice, but I'm good. As you've no doubt noticed, I'm a stickler for realism, especially in terms of medicine. Ergo, anything like that will be researched properly for my posts, including the effects of diazepam and sleep deprivation in the post in question. I'll clear things up for you:

"more for keeping anxiety stable"
Caits

Virgil hasn't got Anxiety, so this doesn't apply. As you're probably aware, diazepam (However, I really should change that to benzos, what with the larger amount of drugs under the umbrella of it) can be used for a multitude of issues. The main thing it does (from what I've gathered from research) however, is relax the Central Nervous System - which is where his little leech is sat. Said leech causes problems for Virgil such as seizures, tremors, and high blood pressure; Diazepam targets all of these. Hence his taking of it.

"it would actually put him to sleep?"
Caits

I think @Jacobite explained this one nicely (Thank-You!) enough. Effectiveness of drugs differ between people, and of course, tolerance levels. While I haven't specifically outlined that Virgil suffers from chronic insomnia in his CS, what he's probably suffering from in this instance will be Psychophysiological insomnia - when one cannot go to sleep due to a fixation on something. In most cases, the sufferer cannot sleep because they fixate too much on trying to go to sleep, and then worry about it when it doesn't happen. A self-fulfilling prophecy, I suppose - in Virgil's case, he's fixated on his work and a possible euraka moment. The caffeine from his coffee is likely aiding him in staying awake too.

"I didn't say middle earth, I was just asking if you guys were aware"
Caits

You did tag me specifically about this query, so... yeah? I don't mind of course, but this was directed at me.

Basically, you likely don't have to worry about the accuracy of my posts. If I don't know something about a drug, or medical condition, then I either research it myself or don't use it at all. If I'm ever stuck in a real rut, I can always ask my Mother. She has got 30 years of nursing behind her belt, and definitely knows her stuff.

I hope that cleared everything up for you! Please let me know if anything I write confuses you in the future. :)

Oh, and also excited for assignments!
@Vicier

I've found a better theme song for Virgil, would you mind updating the sheet?

It's alright, I always read new posts in the IC so I saw it anyway.
Feri awoke with a strangled sounding yelp, bleary eyed and scrabbling around in the dirt for her knives, wondering how in the hell a Darkspawn had managed to sneak up on Gideon to attack. Only when she had grasped something and twisted around did she see Rannon, shoulders heaving with exertion and wild hair covering his eyes, fear seemingly reverberating from the clearly terrified man... and a distinct lack of Darkspawn. Shaking her own hair from sleep-laden eyes, Feri realised with a start she was brandishing a stick at her imagined attacker... not her knife.

"Uh... Rannon?" Throwing the stick aside hastily with a blush (Maker, hopefully he didn't notice that), Feri looked at the man tentatively as she began to stand up. "Are you - Ooof - alright?" Having tangled herself up in her blankets in her rush to wake up, Feri fell to the floor in the middle of her question, still looking at Rannon worriedly. Obviously, he'd had a bad dream. Well, either that or a snake had bit him in a delicate area, but with how calm he was now, Feri decided against that one, thankfully.

Now properly untangled from her blanket, the young half-Dwarf walked over to Rannon and knelt by his side uncertainly, wondering what to do or say. She'd been plagued with nightmares before, and as an adult, understood a certain embarrassment behind having them; especially among strange acquaintances. Still, she hardly judged Rannon, from what she could guess he had seen at Ostagar. It was enough to leave any fellow cowering, no matter how tough they were.

"Rannon?" Feri repeated herself after several moments of silence between the pair, pushing back strands of her messy, bed-headed hair from an obviously concerned face. Dried dirt from where she had fallen dusted her rumpled clothing, still warm and creased from what had been a surprisingly comfortable sleep, despite the bumpy rock of the ground.

Yeah, from what you've described, it sounds more like possession from an outside being than a mental disorder. Maybe you should ask the GMs to see if you could do that - a possession of some kind? Not sure if ghosts or demons are in the Overwatch Universe, but it's worth asking. Plenty of other parasite-like things that could do that too.

----------------- -----------------

Sombra's teasing smile towards the omnic swiftly slipped from her face as the trio were joined by two others; firstly Ceridwyn, then "Scorn", as she liked to be called. Now, Sombra admitted that Talon had a big 'evil' aesthetic going on. Gabriel looked like Santa Muerte's brooding cousin; Widowmaker was... well, surprisingly attractive after the tortures she'd had to endure, but still had the creep factor going on. When Sombra had joined, she had thought her outfit would bring a splash of colour to the place, make it a little less cliche. But Ceri? First of all, Sombra was surprised that Reaper had even allowed her to join; probably because he'd rather have her here as a grunt than someone actually useful in Overwatch, but still. The girl dressed as though she were colourblind, and the constant stream of over-the-top happiness grated on the Mexican hacker's nerves far too much to be comfortable. Naturally, the child had been banned from any of Sombra's quarters from the beginning (Sombra had not been amused when being told by Reaper that Ceri was to become a Security Officer; Sombra's domain, and in her opinion, no place for annoying children. Naturally, she'd delegated the task of training to some other Talon grunt, ensuring a distance from the kid.), but there was no way of cutting off all contact.

Ignoring Ceri's sunny greeting, Sombra turned back to Peacere. "I probably have plans. Need to see what our Lord and Saviour Reaper has to say first, but I have some stuff to do in the meantime." She answered vaguely, shrugging her shoulders. Sombra couldn't help but smile about his comment over breakfast - robots said the funniest things sometimes. Perhaps they forgot just how often humans needed to eat and drink? Once again, she was reminded of the sad reality about the omnic's lack of taste. That would be an interesting thing for to try and invent - but she had doubts over whether Peacere would appreciate the effort. As for Sampson's request, she chuckled lightly.

"I don't eat in the mess hall - the cooks there seem to have never heard of seasoning, so I'll leave the tour to the circus act." Her tone was notably scathing, still some laughter in her voice as "Scorn" showed up. While not a child, she certainly acted as such with her silly face painting. Still, Adala was easier to deal with than others, so the joke was not aiming to insult her. Mostly, anyway.

As she was just about to turn away, Sombra paused, an alert shining before her eyes - with her implants, only she would see it, and good job too. Her search results had finally given her something... and it didn't look good.

"Mierda." She muttered, tossing her unfinished breakfast, plate and all, into a nearby bin, throwing up her holographic keyboard with a wave of her hand and inputting new orders, fingers flashing across the buttons. Glancing back to the others, Sombra closed down the hologram. "If there are any missions today, you'll be made aware sooner or later. New guy, I have only one rule. Stay out of my room and my office. Same applies to the dog." Flashing another smile at Sampson, she left the group and made a swift beeline back towards her quarters - she had some messages to send.

About 15 different pages were up on Sombra's screen; door locked tight as she peered over them all, the uncomfortable feeling of worry prickling her skin. Police reports, CCTV footage, generic social media and of course, messages from her "friends". All told the same story; McCree had attempted to hide, and failed at it. Obviously one of the bounty hunters had recognised him. Several others were sighted in the area, some opening fire. However, not at McCree. Sombra didn't consider this suspicious in the least - it made sense to take out competition before collecting the prize... but something more was bothering her. Had she missed some information, passed over something important? Tutting lightly at her own ineptitude, she opened up two new messages screens - her own encrypted network.

TO: Conejo
Long time no see, amigo. It's about time we met up to have some more fun! Not the reason for the message however - it's about an old mutual friend of ours, McCree. Not sure whether you've heard or not, but he's in some trouble. I can't reach him, so it's up to you; consider it returning a favour. Best grasp I have of the situation is that there are casualties already; the damned Cowboy doesn't know the meaning of the phrase "Lay low." Carson City - follow the shooting, you'll find him quick enough. Keep in contact with me, I can be your eyes in the sky - I'm bringing in the big guy too, in case you were worried you couldn't handle it yourself. (:

TO: Hammerhoff
Carson City. Cowboy needs some help. Be a good tank and help the ninja extract him - they could use the fire power. Not to mention the hammer.

The messages were quite safe to send; neither Talon or Overwatch sensors could pick them up, thanks to her talents. She only hoped that they would get to McCree in time. Realising something with a chuckle as she inputted the coordinates, she added another note to both messages before sending.

It appears to be quite the "Mexican stand-off" over there.

Slumping back onto her chair, Sombra kicked off her shoes before tucking bare feet under her, settling in for what would clearly be an arduous mission. Putting in an earpiece, her violet-hued eyes darting between each screen shrewdly.

"Ugh... what am I missing?" She muttered to herself, brow furrowing into a scowl. Something was sticking out here; and she'd find out what - or who - it was before the day was done.
@Sorrelmyst

Not sure where you got schizophrenia from, as you haven't mentioned anything like that in your CS. As for "Dual personalitied", it doesn't exist. What I assume you're referring to is Disassociative Identity Disorder, of which a person suffers from a disassociated state of mind and multiple personalities. As any web source will tell you, DID isn't as black-and-white as having two people struggling for power in one's head as your CS states. Typically, DID patients will create a secondary personality, or "Host" personality in the event of trauma. These personalities are typically innocent and unknown to the trauma they sustained, as the sole purpose of it's subconscious creation is to protect one's mind from trauma: It's an extreme form of denial. It's rare for DID to create aggressive or violent personalities, and more often than not any violence brought forth from the Disorder is internalised - they'll attack themselves, hate themselves, etc., rather than hurt others.

It should also be mentioned that sufferers from DID nearly always suffer from other forms of mental issues on top of it; Amnesia, Anxiety, Depression, Self-Hatred, suicidal thoughts, in some cases Agoraphobia... the list goes on.

Basically, what you need to keep in mind - if you are having you character suffer from DID - is that it's an illness. It is not good, and it does not bring with it good things; it should never be written as convenient, as a super-power, or for a plot-point. It's unfair to those who suffer, and doesn't help in stereotypes.

This interview with a sufferer of DID describes the disorder rather well, if you're interested in learning more.
