Death In The Air

Audrey had originally planned on making breakfast, but with some of the boys sleeping, and Aaron leaving to go help their neighbor at the video store bury her parents- plans changed. They often did in these times. Audrey hadn't heard the new boy came in, as she was wrapped up in her own daily duties. Even slipping a nap in for a half hour in one of the back rooms where no one could disturb her. She began heading back to the kitchen area when she heard Gabriel calling for her. "Yes?" she asked, looking at yet another new face in front of her. "Oh hello! Welcome. I'm Audrey." she said, a bit surprised. She was thankful he looked older than a few of the boys that had recently joined their group. Someone who she could maybe relate to more.

Death In The Air

The night had been long, tiring, and eventful. Last night the siblings had took on the horde alone. Their company safe in the vault. Without hesitation Audrey began helping Aaron move the empty shelves against the doorways and anywhere else there could be entrances. However, the exhaustion in her eyes was clear sign of the trouble they had encountered last night. "I'll get the boys." Audrey said, nodding her head and walking towards the Vault. She hoped they had done well through the night, she was sure that they had been nervous and unsure of the outcome of everything. Opening the door with the key that was hanging on a hook from the outside, she peeked her head in to see Charles, Gabriel, and Ivan. "Good morning." she cooed, her voice a bit softened and slow due to the lack of energy. "Come help Aaron, we need all the hands we can get after last night. I'll make some breakfast for afterwards." she stated, propping the door wide open as she began walking down the aisles for something to make them for a good start to the day.

The only reason I suggested one person, is because it has been difficult lately to get anything from anyone :( I'm getting pretty discouraged quickly. It might be just because I've been sick lately, but I'm losing steam for this roleplay- because i'm not quite sure what I'm doing wrong as a GM.

Gulping, she was sure as hell surprised that someone had surprised so quickly, let alone a boy. She started to respond, "Hey I-" before a blast of energy came from the radio in the form of another person. This time a girl. Tricia couldn't help but smile at her energy. She could tell this girl was going to be fun. "Oh my God." Tricia said with a laugh. "Hey, i'm Tricia. I got these chips from the box next to the fridge. Um, that's what I chose, cause they are my favorite too! They sure are good Tori. Mmmmmm mmm mmm." she teased the girl, taking another hit from her pipe, coughing again waiting for response. Tricia thought of herself as humorous. In hindsight she should have said something to Quinten but she figured that she had all summer to say something to him.

Another boy introduced himself, and Tricia nodded. She was trying to remember how many towers there were. She recalled that there were six in total, but she wondered how many people there were in each. She was thankful she had watchtower Eucalyptus to herself. That meant no one to tell her what to do, and no one that she had to tell what to do either. Eating some more of her chips she continued to wait for more people to speak. Crumpling up her empty bag of chips she tossed it towards the trash can, missing it completely. After, she took out one of her notebooks from her backpack, and looked at the map that was given to her earlier by Oliver. Writing down each of the tower names, she started to match things. Kyle was in Cactus. She was in Eucalyptus. Tori and Quinten hadn't mentioned their locations yet, but assumed that they would soon.

Meanwhile..

A house in the midst of the forest is lively with argument. The voices aren't distinct enough to be known but various tones can be heard inside. A loud bang could be heard, and then the small cry of a young child. The small house is now eerily quiet, the shades closed tight. The back door opens and a young man can be seen dragging out a large garbage bag. He then places it into a dumpster on the edge of one of the park grounds next to Five Mile Creek. The flies are swarming to it in no time. Visitors don't pay too much attention to it, throwing their own garbage on top of it as they go about their day.

Ivan grabbing onto her caused Audrey to tense up at first in shock. She relaxed slightly as his whimpers were heard. She felt terrible for the young boy, "Oh honey.." she cooed, her hand resting on his back gently as she rubbed it with an open hand softly. She didn't have any idea what to do with him.

Quite suddenly Aaron's voice yelled out for them to get into the Vault. Standing up quickly, she pulled Ivan up with her. Though she was a petite woman, she was strong and sturdy, and in emergency she was quick and active on her feet. "Go, get with Gabriel into the vault. she took a gas mask and placed it on his face. She put her hands on his shoulders, "Do not take it off. Do not be afraid, we will make it through this. GO!" she pushed him in encouragement towards Gabriel, pointing towards the Vault room, a secured area that the grocery store once used as place for their money. She then put adorned her own mask. "What do we do?!" she asked Aaron, looking as the creatures crawled and gushed through the ladder.

Watching the young boy named Ivan scurry off afterwards, Audrey couldn't help but chuckle. She hoped she hadn't scared him too much with her joking. Despite their circumstances it was good to keep things light when they could be. She decided to use the restroom herself and freshen up. Walking out, she moved back into their dining area to clean up and arrange stuff where she was met with a very grand greeting. Another man joining the group? Three in one day, Audrey wondered what Aaron could possibly be thinking doing all of this. She watched him bow and covered her lips with her fingers slightly, containing a smile. "I'm Audrey." she stated, "Aaron's older sister." she continued, grabbing some of the remaining food and putting it away. A dull thud could be heard as Audrey's attention turned to Ivan who she had helped earlier. His moans of pain, caused her to worry as she feared he was infected. "You'll have to excuse me for a moment Charles." she said, nodding her head towards him as she went towards where she had heard Ivan.

Squatting down to where he was, she placed her hand on his forehead. He was burning up. A look of concern swept over Audrey's face as she put her hand on his shoulder and gave a strong nudge to wake him up. "Ivan!" she exclaimed, trying to wake the boy from his sleep.
