Devika shrugged slightly. "I'm a big girl, Nick. I can handle myself. No need to protect me." She flashed him a quick smile, then went back to her food. She'd just gotten the first emotion that she could detect from Nicholas. Nervousness... She wondered why. Maybe he didn't show people his work often?

BRIEF Bio - Jin lost her parents at a young age, and was on the streets not long after. Years of struggling to survive turned an innocent child to a clever, capable pickpocket. She grew more and more confident, until one day she decided to enter the more upper-class part of Gotham. She picked the wrong mark- Bruce Wayne. While she managed to sneak his wallet, she didn't get much farther than that. Wayne was no fool, and he caught up to her long enough to get his wallet back. The young thief vanished- only to be visited hours later by Batman himself. He offered her something no one else had: hope.

What's Changed - Jin was already starting to crack after the loss of a teammate and the devastating attack on their base. When she slept through a trouble alarm and (in her mind) abandoned her teammates, she knew that she was nearing rock bottom. With some help from Black Canary, she began to seek therapy for her nightmares, insomnia, and the deeper issues involving her trauma. It's been rather touch and go, as therapy goes; some sessions, some weeks, some months have been better than others. She seems to be more grounded and focused... but where that focus may have turned remains to be seen.

She's also gotten a bit more womanly, losing a bit of her androgynous shape during a late growth spurt. She has visible boobs now and she HATES them. ("Does the B in B-cup stand for Bullshit? How am I supposed to fight with these... things on me?")
Notes - *Besides Batman's fondness for scooping up orphans, Batman saw something in Jin- potential. He knew that if she was left on the streets, she'd probably become a very adept, very dangerous criminal within the next 5-10 years. So he decided to turn the path of her destiny, and use her untapped potential for something good.

*Jin's weakness to open spaces is linked to the way she uses her telekinesis to fly. She can't fly for real- what she is actually doing is using her powers to basically fling herself from one point to another, relying on the momentum from each successful push to keep her airborne. With nothing to push herself off of, she can't go too high or fast, and has to rely on hovering over the ground.

Devika let out a tiny snort. "Dribble, huh? Well, the bit about princesses waiting for rescue is definite bullshit, but there IS a sword training yard at this school. So it's less dribble and more... possibility. I'd still prefer to rescue myself, though." She pushed back her curls as she thought. "I would love to see your project, actually. Psychology is sort of a side hobby of mine- I focus on emotional states and what causes them. I guess I've always been trying to understand how I do what I do. So... if you're looking into how fear develops, I would just love to see your research. Maybe I can help. I'm pretty good at making people afraid." She let out a dry laugh and drunk some of her iced coffee. "Even when I really don't want to."

She remembered Griffin being deeply afraid of her and tried not to sigh.

Devika nodded a bit. So he was an intellectual. That was very respectable, in her eyes. She liked people who wanted to expand their minds. "Oh, you like to read? So do I!" She seemed to light up. "I prefer fiction, really. Swords and magic and all sorts of fantasy creatures. What do you like best?" She took a bite of her sandwich and thought. "And what kind of projects? Anything interesting?"

Devika smiled a bit. Nicolas was a bit strange. He had a blankness about him, a sort of flat affect. It wasn't such a terrible thing- in fact, it was a relief to be around someone who seemed less emotional. Perhaps he was nervous. It was a large, unpredictable school, so being a bit scared sounded normal."Well, let's talk about you. You didn't mention anything but your name to me, so... let me ask you what you asked me. Do you have any powers? What do you like to do?"

Devika gave him a mildly startled look, before she started to laugh. She reached out and gave Nicholas a punch in the shoulder. "Geez, lighten up, will you Nick? No talking about cancer at the lunch table. That's a rule." It was something she did for her parents, too. She demanded that they not speak about work while they were eating together. Sometimes, she just wanted them to get out of their own heads, out of that work mode, even for a little bit.

Devika snickered faintly at Flood, shaking her head. "You could learn to make money at a regular school, you know. Go for an MBA. You're here because you don't want to be normal." To Nicholas, she frowned. "I get what you mean about ideology. But as long as humans exist, there will be idealists. It's just pure human nature, hard-wired into our brains. If we could overcome our emotions, our stereotypes, and instincts, we'd be computers. But then again, we'd be computers- and part of the enjoyment of life comes from happiness, joy, love... sure, there are bad times, but computers can't feel anything at all."

Ok I did some researching.. my character now has immunity to telepathy and toxins.. also martial arts comes naturally to her.. tehe DONE YAAAAAY

Can we see the updated app, Kira? Also, why does your character have these immunities? They seem pretty random.
