Kijani looked torn, but didn't want to get any further into a fight. But she was worried about Ben, and more than willing to make Connor pay for being an ass. "What do you want, Anthony?" She stayed where she was, trying to get a sense of what the heck was going on.
You've upset Kijani. I wish I'd had her bring her sword... to make her being upset more of a threat.
Kijani felt her body react as the beam went flying for her. She dove into a neat roll and came up on her feet, staring at the smoking space on the asphalt where the attack had landed. "...what the HELL, man?!" That was about it. She started to twist and dance, pulling whatever paper she had left into a smaller, weak paper plane. She didn't need to go far, and she got a running start and a hard boost. Pushing herself to the limit, she landed several feet away from Connor and stormed up to him. "What the hell is wrong with you?!" She started prodding him in the chest- even though she knew full well he couldn't feel a thing through his armor, she wanted to make a point. "You could have hurt me, you little prick! Hey, Fearless Leader-" She was talking to Anthony, now. "We have dissension in the ranks! This little piece of garbage just shot at me!"
Glad to have you back. Question: do you want to know why Kijani left or would you prefer to know it when your character does? I've finally worked out all the little details. It came to me in a dream.
Kijani noticed Mr. Croil relax a bit as he started to talk about his fields. No wonder, if she was in charge of something so wonderful and grand, she'd want to talk about it too. She was glad to hear that she could have some apples, as well. She hadn't had any with the skin on in years. Her mother had said the biting and crunching was not at all ladylike, and so she'd been forced to eat her fruit in small slices, with a knife and fork, ever since. Embarrassingly enough, she could feel her mouth filling at the thought of biting into the sweet delicious treat, feeling the glossy red skin snap under her teeth.

She wasn't surprised as he told her that people would be quiet around her. She was used to it in the city. Her family wasn't the most powerful or wealthy, but they were still in enough circles of note to be noticed, and held higher than most. People spoke differently around her, as if they were afraid. What that fear was, she didn't quite understand fully. Something about upsetting people with power. She honestly couldn't stand it. No one spoke to her like she was just a woman. No, she was always and forever a Ryane, destined to walk and talk and be a Ryane, until she married and took some man's name but even then, she'd be a Ryane as well.

The thought of marriage triggered a twist in her stomach, an ice cold pang that spread through her body. Mr. Croil's mention of bringing trouble only made her colder, and she started to twist her hands in endless motion, the silk gloves doing little to stop her. Her eyes had gone a bit dim, and distant, and she barely realized that her host had stopped speaking. Inside, she was simply begging herself: not now, not now, not in front of people. Her hands were starting to hurt but she was somehow detached from the pain. She inhaled a breath that shook somewhat and tried to smile. “No trouble at all, sir.”

That was, after all, exactly why she'd left.
Not a problem, Crim. I'm really in no rush. Life comes first and all that.
"They wouldn't, but that's what makes us different, right?" She grumbled, wishing she could have this argument face to face with Connor. "Are you PMSing or something, geez! All I'm saying is we could have done some different things!" Her annoyance was getting the better of her, but she hadn't let go of the original problem. "Where's Anthony? I thought he put himself in charge of this circus. Good leaders don't bail on a situation."
"I know we can't protect them all." Kijani shot back. "I'm not some stupid idealist. I just think we should at least... not make it worse." She frowned. She didn't know Connor well, but he seemed awfully flippant about the whole situation.
Kijani sighed softly. Connor had somewhat of a point, she had warned those people not to be there, but still.. "But... people in crowds take a drop in IQ. Panic spreads like a virus, and... everyone loses their heads. We have to plan for that. Not everyone is as cool-headed in chaos as we're being trained to be."
Kijani frowned as she saw the red mist, holding stock still and trying to figure out if she was seeing things. When it disappeared, she shook her head several times. "Something's... wrong with me. During the fight, I..." She pressed her lips together, trying to phrase her feelings properly. "I did something weird, I... I could have gotten people killed. I know better. I do. I can't figure out why I would lead a pissed-off Hulk through a street full of scared people." She couldn't explain what she felt, besides that she had done something... wrong.
