In Depth Description of Appearance:
Devika is 5'7'' and heavily curved. She has black hair that is very kinky, it runs a bit past her shoulders, and she usually keeps it out of her face with a headband or ponytail elastic. By itself, her hair is a wild storm that gives her a uniquely energetic look. Her eyes are light brown, and usually behind a pair of silver rimmed pince nez. She has a soft, sweet face, and has dimples when she smiles fully, which is rare.
Devika's fashion sense is ecletic, to say the least. She likes long tunics and boldly patterned leggings, and has a fondness for color coordination and unusual combinations. To say she is in vogue would be a lie- she's never seen a fashion show in her life. She simply wears what she enjoys, and she enjoys color and brilliance.
Her clothes cover a great deal of her body. If she isn't wearing long sleeves, she's wearing cute armwarmers, and never fails to wear gloves. She has a lot of clothing and does mix it up- she may have purple leather gloves for one outfit, and pink cloth gloves for the next. But she leaves very little uncovered.

Mutation:
Devika is an empath. She can absorb others emotions, and transmit hers to others as well, as well as control and change others' emotional states. Unfortunately, the flow runs both ways, and she can be affected by others as well.
Weakness: Devika's power doesn't shut off. She has to meditate daily to keep her own self in check, and strengthen her defense against everyone else's feelings. Without the meditation, she would feel others' physical pain as well. While she does pull in a lot through just distance, her power strengthens when she makes skin contact with others.

History:
Devika was, oddly enough, an orphan foundling. Not of the 'picnic basket on the doorstep' variety, but close enough. Her parents found her in a park in the middle of summer. The baby wearing nothing but a diaper and a gold bracelet engraved with her name. Reginald and Anne Jones searched for the baby's parents everywhere, in every database the two lawyers had access to, but there was no trace of them. By the time they figured out that her parents were long gone, they were already quite in love with the infant. They had never been able to have a child of their own, and so, feeling fate was giving them a gift, they adopted Devika.
Devika's power was discovered when she was very young. She seemed to be a normal kindergartner, though she was rather on the high-strung side. That all changed one day on the playground. A little boy fell off the monkey bars and broke his wrist. While the child was getting medical attention, the paramedics noticed little Devika, crying her eyes out, holding her swollen right wrist. They checked her as well, but discovered absolutely no injury on her. Once this was reported to her parents, they started to put the pieces together. They started to teach Devika meditation, and how to keep her emotions in check.
