@Dizzy Avid creator of what?

Uh... short stories, characters, art... I'm working on a longer novel, which has it's own species, so I created that too. ^_^ Lots of things.
*hugs Caits* I'm sorry... I lost my job pretty recently too, but nothing so unfair as a budget cut. Hang in there.

Bruce nods, "That's respectable. Ms. Ryane?"

Kijani cleared her throat and looked Bruce Wayne in the eyes. "Well, sir. I didn't step in until John threw the first punch, so to speak. If you want my opinion, people like John need to be taught that their actions aren't going to go unpunished, that they can't just do whatever they like because they think being physically strong makes them better, or above the rules. Unfortunately, the only option that someone like that can understand is more violence, so... I gave him a nosebleed after he threw Connor across a table and hit him in the face." She was glad to hear her voice wasn't shaking. There was a lot of anger lying underneath those words. Mostly because she knew that John hadn't been taught a thing at all, and that this behavior was bound to continue unless they found a way to stop it for good.
Uh... let's see. If we're telling on ourselves...

I'm 27, avid creator, unmarried but with a long-time boyfriend. I have a life's goal of promoting strong black female characters in literature and other media... Uhm... I also like ice cream, but like Caits I'm not supposed to have it.
Kijani wanted to laugh at the look on Feather's face as what she said slowly took hold. She seemed to understand it, to a point. But what actually surprised her is that Feather seemed to have a beau of her own. That was sweet and unexpected. She wanted to hear more, but then Mr. Croil stepped up to the two of them.

Once he'd gestured to the food, there was a space of silence, where she was simply looking at him, unsure of what to say. But before she could make up her mind, between thanking him or wishing him a good sleep, he nodded and was gone. He probably wanted to be free of her for the time being. She couldn't blame him for that- she hated having houseguests at home. Even if her home was big enough that she could avoid them.

"Well, Feather, show me where we're to sleep." She smiled gently at her chaperone. "And do tell me more about this young Mr. Stone... he seems quite nice." She wondered if Feather's parents realized that she seemed to have her heart already set for someone else. There was certainly no hint of attraction to Mr. Croil, in any case. Maybe if Alderman Brown knew, he could let Feather have a happy coupledom instead of a forced marriage, and-

She cut her own thoughts short with a slight inward flinch. There was no need for her to get so involved in the lives of strangers. These people had been living their lives just fine before she got here, and they would continue to do so when she left. They didn't need a city woman to 'fix' their lives. It made her someone upset at herself, knowing that she'd fallen into that pattern without even meaning to.

"After that I suppose I should eat, and so should you, of course..." She realized she hadn't eaten anything substantial for hours, and was already feeling slightly lightheaded.

(Dizzy, you do realize that he's talking to Batman, right?)

((Uh... no I did not. *goes to edit*))
Kijani quieted as they entered the office, letting Connor say his piece. She was happy to see him so confident.
Devika settled back to eat now that things had gotten quiet. "So, what sort of classes do they have here?"
Kijani winced in sympathy, remembering too late that Connor had been tossed around pretty well during the fight. When Austin knocked, she gulped slightly and lowered her voice. "This is unreal... this has never happened to me before." She'd never been caught before.
Devika could feel when Kalinda's control was back, and she nodded. "Good." The cafeteria seemed to have died down, emotion wise. "I hope the rest of my day isn't so...volatile."
Kijani shook her head. "I smashed his nose in with a napkin brick. It felt awesome. I'm just as guilty as you." She grinned widely and gave Connor a little nudge in the shoulder, not really a punch at all. "Besides, apparently some people think I'm full of myself. I'm not saying they're wrong, but... not taking blame where it's deserved would just make me a total bitch."
"Good. Clenching up like that can really wreck your body. I ruined one of my teeth from clenching my jaws all the time. True story." She smiled a bit. "Once I get settled, I can teach you some meditation and grounding stuff that I've picked up over the years. It looks like you definitely need at least the grounding."
"I'm coming with you." She started heading toward the principal's office with the two of them. She'd been a part of the fight too, or extremely willing to be, and it wouldn't be fair if she got off scot-free. It would actually be sort of sexist- she was the first to make John bleed, after all. "I want to talk to the powers that be about that sociopathic piece of shit anyway... I can't believe they let him out with normal people." She paused, running over what she'd said. "Semi-normal."
Devika nodded, respecting the other girl's wishes. "Keep breathing. You're tense, I can see it in your body. It's going to hurt you someday."
