Interesting that Flood has chosen her to follow. It will play nicely when I finally, finally get to the apex of her arc. It'll be very soon, now.

Kijani didn't stand in Magneto's path for more than a second. She knew that she couldn't stand against someone of that caliber- or Kat's either. Best to let them deal with each other. Her mind was working, though. With all her paper, it'd be difficult for Magneto to control her directly. Then again, they were on a plane made of metal...
The sudden jerking of the plane startled her badly, and she found herself grinding her heels into the ground and dropping into a crouch. Without even thinking of it, she drove her papered fists into the ground hard enough to push right through the metal. It effectively anchored her to something solid, and she was quickly back on her feet once everything was right again.
"Magneto, sir... If I may make a suggestion... Perhaps this is not a bad thing, our current path." She stepped forward with confidence, using the paper to keep her feet grounded. With a winning smile, she continued to speak as if there wasn't about to be a fight. "Miss Katla's choices aside... this could be used to the favor of the Brotherhood. You can send Flood and I back to the Academy. They'll debrief us, of course, but... there is a reason for us leaving. The Academy cannot- and WILL not, I might add- teach us everything we need to know. Like my power, I have been gifted with subtlety. No one will know my allegiances no longer lie on the golden path of heroism." In truth, they never had, but Magneto wouldn't have known that.
"What do you think, sir? You can have your own spy within the school."

anyway, I had an eye appointment today. Part of one, anyway. They're doing a full exam, for $55 bucks. *exhale* If you don't wear glasses, let me just tell you that 55 bucks is an absolute godsend. I almost cried in relief on the phone. So yeah, all kinds of 'look at this, read the top line' etc. My head hurts from the strain, but I do have half the post in mind.

Anyway... I can't seem to get past a few sentences. I see in my head, Orbit pulling up a shield... but knowing it's 1.5 seconds later than what she can usually do. Worried, and trying to ignore the pain in her head. She zoned out on the way over, but... she's hoping that this is a quick fight.

"You may not release it, but you still feel it. Besides- you can repress your own feelings from the surface, but what I'd give to you by accident would be too much, I'm sure." She looked truly unhappy. "Besides... I wouldn't want to be the cause of your death." She couldn't go through that again.

Devika wasn't fooled by Nick's blank eyes. "Nick... don't... don't feel that way, please. It has nothing to do with you." Her gaze flickered downward, even though she tried to bury the shame. "I... I can't date. I just can't. B-bad things will happen, and I like you enough not to let them happen to you." She sighed softly. "That and it would be technically illegal for us to be more than friendly in the state of New York, so... yeah... I doubt things will change by the time you hit 18, though... My powers only seem to get stronger."
