Connor nodded, starting to coat one side of a piece of paper himself. It appeared he had taken his fathers advice. He was comfortable, and completely at ease. And Conorr wasn't much of an actor, nor one to pretend. He was genuine. Just about everything he did he did genuinely. He worked quickly, and soon had his stack of papers coated with the solution. He started to hang them up to dry all around the laboratory. He enjoyed the work, despite it's repeativeness. "Now to wait for it to dry

"So then you need to find them to figure out who you are" Kalinda said thinking

Kijani painted hers as well, her hand inexpert but very steady. Soon, she too was hanging up her papers and looking over their work. "So..." She started to play with her hair again. "Now what do we do?" She leaned against the lab counter, smiling slightly at him. Honestly, she'd never seen Connor so at ease. It was nice to watch, but at the same time, she wondered how to do it. Literally- how did one be at ease, let their guard completely down, when they were around other people? She'd never been able to- quite the opposite, in fact. She'd been taught to keep her mind in constant defense, while at the same time being aware of any and every striking point in other people. Even now, she couldn't relax, even though Connor's happiness made her want to.
"That would be incredible. But I seriously doubt it's going to happen." She shook her head. A wave of sadness hit her, and she turned her head toward it. Kalinda went a step further, wandering off, probably to find the source. Devika sighed and leaned back into the grass. "...now what?" She had no one to speak to here, no plans... no nothing.
*gathers up all the puppies and takes them away from Knight*

...Oh... btw... Side-effect of Devika's brand of empathy... Animals hate her. Like, they go ballistic.

Connor laughed, there was a good feeling in knowing that a friend, someone he was helping, had succeeded. "And this is why I wanted you to do it yourself" he said, taking out two paint brushes "there is nothing like the feeling of creating something and succeeding"He now just could help but smile. He just couldn't stop it. Not that he wanted to. "And now we paint the paper, both sides. Then hang it to dry carefully. Once we have done the paper, we can have some dinner while it dries"

"What do you mean?" Kalinda asked curiously

Kijani carefully took the paintbrush from him. "Alright. Painting. I'm not much of an artist, but I think I can handle this." She went and got several sheets of paper for each of them and set them in reach. "So... I guess I just coat it completely, then? Like a thin layer of stuff?" She was wondering why she'd never noticed him smile before. Maybe he hadn't. Or maybe it hadn't been so... warm and easy. A smile like that, she had learned, meant someone was completely at ease, and ripe for manipulation because they had their guard down. She was surprised. Connor trusted her, or at least he was very good at pretending to. She didn't know what to do with that.
Devika shook her head at Estella. "My barriers aren't the problem. I can block my mind pretty well, but it goes both ways. I cut myself off from my own emotions as well as everyone else's. But I can feel them, through my skin... they just seep in." Then she turned to Kalinda, sighing before flopping back in the grass. Her hair billowed out behind her like a fluffy dark cloud. "I guess I might as well tell you. I don't know who my parents are. I mean, my birth parents. My real parents, the ones who raised me, they're amazing. But... I've always had that mystery ini the back of my mind."

Connor smiled reassuringly. "Probably not enough Borax" although he wasn't too sure of this, since this was a new experiment for him as well. "We can started again" he said, emptying to contents in the chemical sink, hoping he wasn't destroying Dr Cpnnors lab as he did so. "So we will start with a cup and a half of water" he poured the water in, "then add the Alum, and boric acid" he did this, "then the borax" he stirred the solution, and it turned the same colour as his own, "sometimes I forgot even when I don't know what I am doing, I know what I am doing" he said, and it was now as he turned to look at her again that he noticed her shirt."Super nerd" he found himself laughing, "I like it. Do you want to try it again?"

"Essentially once you can control it, you can be normal" Kalinda said, she gave Devika a smile "it will be okay"

Kijani poured hers away as well, and paid more close attention this time, focusing intently on Connor. Once she was sure she had it, she duplicated what she'd seen, more carefully measuring and stirring the ingredients. "Okay..." She watched it as it slowly turned orange. "HA! Haha! Take that, science!" She giggled like a little girl, which was something she only did when reading alone.
Devika's gaze looked dimmed. "I suppose. I just wished... I knew more about myself. Like, really knew."

Connor smiled, pleased. He hadn't noticed her watching him, if he had he would have faltered. As it was, he turned to her, "you can help make the mixture. Just do as I do" he saidHe turned back to the bench, going slow so Kijani could easily copy, putting in the different chemicals, using a medium size container of water as the base. When he was done, his solution had a pale orange tinge to it, but would hopefully go on clear. Not that it matter, he supposed. He loved teaching. He enjoyed helping other students. And it showed, as he seemed to have a natural ability for this.

"That's why you need to be here" Kalinda said, "to learn how to control it,Right?"

Finally using her telepathy now that the two were calmer Estella 'spoke' s She shook her head a bit, trying to clear some of the brain fog last behind from Devika's powers.

Kijani watched Connor's work intently, carefully copying what he did, and in what order. Once she finished, she stepped back to examine her work. Unlike Connor's pale orange, her solution was a cloudy gray. "Ah... I think I missed something." She smiled nervously, twisting a dreadlock around her finger. "...I don't often say this, but ah.. I'm going to need some help."

Devika nodded, very slightly. "I suppose, yes. I mean, for the most part, I can control it. I... I just... sometimes I wish I was normal. Like... plain old vanilla human." She still felt horrible about what she'd done to Mimic. Even if he had asked for it, that didn't mean he knew what he was asking for.
*frowns slightly at Avan* But I've been waiting, dude...

Also, Caits... I posted. ^_^

Connor looked over, flund himself smiling. "Well" he said, setting the last of his equipment down, "there is two ways we could do this" there was the subtle shift from geeky boy, to geeky professor. "We could use a chemical called Alum, which would serve both purpose and make life easier. But if you want it completely fire and water proof, then we should go with door number two" Still, he went through the process of using alum on a piece of paper, coating it three or for times, drying it quickky with, of all things, a hair dryer. "See, the alum protects the papeer from water" he poured a glass over water over the paper, then held it up, the water sliding right off, he shook it a few times, "and somewhat protects it against fire" he lit the paper. After a minute, he out the small blaze out, shoing the now brown paper, curling at the edges."Option two is trickier" and he proceeded to explain option two, which would, he hope, completely protect the paper without making it too hard to use. It would use a mixture of different chemicals, including Alum, borax, boric acid, and water. They could then either use it as a spray, and spray the papers, which would be pathcy at best, leqving small spaces that werent water or fire proof, or the better option would be to essentially paint the pages with it. He was pretty sure it would work, and his voice showed some excitement at this.He looked up once he had finished explaining, "which one would you like to use?"

"I can barely fly without getting lost. My telekinesks is unreliable at best." Kalinda shrugged, "I will never be as powerful as you" she smiled, "I am glad there are no more classes today"

Kijani listened to Connor talk, a small smile on her face. Honestly, it was almost like night and day, the difference between him normally and him in this moment. He was in his comfort zone, she could tell, and it made a difference. It was actually nice to see him so comfortable.

Once he was done explaining, she nodded. "Definitely the second option. I want to make this as strong as possible. Nothing worth doing was ever too easy." She grinned widely. "Tell me how I can help you."
"Me too. I don't think I could take another class... I'm sure everyone's thinking I'm a freak among weirdos..." Devika shook her head, pushing her glasses up with her fingertip. "Maybe I made a mistake in coming here. I mean, if I can do that with just one forehead smack... who knows what I'm really capable of... How dangerous I could be to everyone."
*summoned as well, in a bathrobe and carrying a glass of wine*

...dammit all, can't a woman get a hot bath in these parts?

AVAN. WIZARD NEEDS POST BADLY.
Hey Caits, I'm off to bed... Just want to know what you glossed over in Connor's explanation.
