Kijani got ready for class, utterly distracted. She managed to put her shirt on backwards once, and nearly wore 2 different colored socks. Eventually she made it to the mirror to do her hair, and noticed her grin. She was wearing a giddy smile that she'd never even seen on her own face. It was all Connor's fault, too, because of last night...

He'd walked her to her dorms, placing his jacket on her shoulders about halfway there, when she was shivering. Even though they'd been walking slowly, they did reach her room eventually.

“So... uhm... tonight was great.” Connor's smile was nervous.

“Yeah, it was...” They stood at her door, and the awkwardness built up. Kijani smiled at him and took off his white jacket. “So... I guess I'll see you tomorrow, yeah?” She held it out.

“Yeah.” Connor rubbed the back of his neck. There were a few seconds of silence, neither of them moving. Finally Connor cleared his throat. “Kijani, I-” He stopped short. Before Kijani could ask what he wanted to say, he swiftly moved forward and kissed her very gently on the lips.

Kijani hadn't seen it coming, but found herself returning it. His mouth was warm and soft, and he tasted like fruit punch. It was over too quickly. Once he'd pulled away, she just stared at him, completely stunned. She was the first to speak. “I... ah...” She felt herself starting to blush. “W-wow...”

“Goodnight Kijani!” Connor raced off, leaving the jacket in her hands.

Kijani stared after him, her face deep red and heated. Finally, she smiled and unlocked her door, going inside and flopping on the bed with a girlish giggle.

She hadn't expected that last night at all. Imagine that, her first kiss! Connor was full of surprises. She finally managed to get ready, and headed off for class, grinning like a moron.

Devika yawned as she ran a brush through her thick hair. She'd stayed up until near dawn with John, on the roof. They just talked about all sorts of stuff: superpowers, music, TV... It was a nice, quiet alternative to the crowded dance. She'd made an unexpected friend. So that made one. Maybe one and a half? She wasn't sure how she felt about Kalinda. Nice girl, but shifty methods...

She wondered what today was going to bring, and again started to ponder the question of what she was really doing here... She headed off to the cafeteria with her mind scrambling with possibilities.
So what happened with John and Devika? I could see her just.. talking with him and stargazing all night, she can operate on very little sleep. College will teach you that.
Knight, is it ok to have a flashback in a post? Like... I want to move forward, but also explain what happened the night before?
Kijani chuckled and started walking, quite slowly, away from the dance. "I'll let you know." She was still warm from dancing. "So... that was fun. I mean... surprising, too." She lightly touched the crown on her head.

"We could always head outside" Connor said, grapping a c0cup of punch as well, and drinking it down, "it would be cooler" and less noise. And crowded. He chuckled at himself, looking about them

"Works for me." She drained a second cup of punch, and then took his arm, neatly steering him through the crowd and out the door. "Aah..." She breathed a sigh of relief, walking a bit away from the thumping music.

"I shouod be alright for any debt. He wants me to build something for him" Connor said, he concerntrated on the dance so he would trip or fall or something.when kijani suggested punch, he had to stop a sigh of relief, "punch sounds good" he said

Kijani led him off the floor and toward the food, where she grabbed a plate of chips and a cup of punch. "Whew... this place gets pretty warm with this many people in it." She fanned herself and drained the cup of punch before getting another one.
I give up. I posted but I hate it.
The first thing Jinayah noticed about the outside world was it's color.

There was so much of it. All sorts of green, for the trees and grass. Reds, yellows, even purples for the flowers. The blue of the afternoon sky was pale and calm, with puffy white clouds like some sort of thick dust. Even the sun was brilliant white-gold, a color so strong it hurt her eyes to look toward it.

She'd never realized there was so much beauty outside of the caves. Inside, in the dimness, things were deeper. Deep greens, plenty of browns, and all manner of gray and black. Her body suited the caves- her skin was rich, healthy and brown, her clothes were bat-leather black. Even her weapons, though shined to a prideful gleam, were gray. It was just what she was used to, and she didn't see a problem with it.

Not until she reached her first town did she even realize she was different, and that was only because people were giving her strange looks. The women were muttering, pointing at her, glaring. She didn't know why. They were all dressed so strangely, too. Long shirts, and skirts to the ankles, in all sorts of colors. Why were they all so... bundled? It wasn't even cold outside, but they dressed as if it were winter. Maybe they were all ill? But they didn't look ill, just... angry. Why cover the skin so much? No one would know who they were... Her hand strayed to the complex, ritual scars on her torso, tracing the lines on her skin. Already she missed home.

She tried to brush off the feeling that she was out of place, and stepped into what seemed to be some kind of market. Just in time, too. She'd been walking since dawn, and was quite hungry. There was a cart before her, full of shiny red fruit. It looked appetizing. She reached in one of her belt pockets, removing a handful of glittering stones. Turning back to the shopkeeper (who was gazing at her midsection rather intently) she smiled and held them out.

“>How much for the shiny redfruit?<”

(The little arrows indicate she's speaking Goblinese.)
*bows* What is your bidding, my mistress?
I'm back! And just in the nick of time, it seems.
