Oh, Jin did so love a party.

Parties were so easy to work, it was like being handed money on a plate. Full of distracted people who were full of wine, and even food small enough to sneak into a pocket. This was no different.

She didn't know what the party was for, and she didn't really care. All she knew was that they had money to spare. While working the crowd, plucking coins from drunk pockets, she heard snatches of conversation about pro-bending and Avatars. She was almost sure there was only supposed to be one Avatar, but that could be considered when she was gone, safe and richer.

Jin was wearing a servant's uniform and cap. The cap was tugged down low to hide her deep, dark blue eyes, and the uniform was just loose enough to make her shape anonymous. People like this didn't look at servants. This costume made her effectively invisible, and all because those rich idiots were blind to people who worked for a living. She had plenty of coins tucked into the small pouch around her waist, surrounded by cloth so they didn't jingle. Ah, if only every heist were a party, then she'd be fat and happy. Well, perhaps not fat.

There were still plenty of people who struggled from morning to morning. Even decades after the old Avatar disappeared, the destructive effects of the defense against the Earth Empire remained. There were people who'd lost homes, work, family, their whole lives gone in moments. Some never recovered. It was something that upset Jin, deep in her belly. Wasn't the Avatar supposed to help people? Instead, the people who had lost it all were just forgotten about. Meanwhile the Avatar rubbed elbows with CEOs and princes, Presidents and movie stars, and let people starve. Then she just walked away from it all.

To be honest, Jin couldn't care less if the Avatar never came back. The world was far better off without one.

A commotion outside called the attention of the partygoers. Jin knew she'd stand out once the crowd was focused on something else. It was time to make an exit. She picked up a mostly empty tray, and started moving toward the back.
Ok! So where's the plot at currently?
CS:
Appearance: -Jin is short, only 5 feet, and quite petite. She wears her black hair in a short, ragged style, and has deep blue eyes and darker skin that marks her as part of the Water Tribes, in blood at least. In the right clothes, she looks like a boy. Even in her own clothing, she looks closer to male than female.

Formal Wear: Doesn't own any.
Name: Jin Shui / Liu-Hai, The Flying Frog
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Bender?: None
Skills (instead of bending style?): Jin is very good at lying and acting, able to fit into many roles with ease, as long as she does enough watching. She is incredibly agile to her small size and low weight, able to run and dart around with ease. She can also jump quite high, which is where one of her nicknames came from. Her hands are small, and she can sneak things from people's pockets without much effort. She is also excellent with sleight of hand tricks and juggling, which is a decent way to distract people in the chase of a larger con.

Jin also has an innate sense for numbers, able to do large equations in her head. Her most untapped gift is in mechanics. She loves to take apart things that she scavenges- old radios, trinkets and toys, and has no issues putting them back together. She would love to get her hands on a real Satomobile and see what makes it work.

Personality: Jin's personality varies depending on the situation. On the 'job', she is focused and driven. When she's trying to con someone, she is charm and smoothness, or slyness, or innocence- whatever is required to get her payday.

When she isn't out stealing, she is generally a quiet sort. She doesn't trust strangers, especially people that she considers 'rich'. If said rich person can prove themselves to be not a snob or a jerk, Jin will try to relax. Her prejudices do cloud her judgement very hard, though.

History: Jin's parents, Jasmine and Anchor, lived in Republic City. Her father was a waterbender who worked in the police force as a detective, and her mother was a firebender who loved to make and fire her own pottery. They were a happy family, and even happier when baby Jin was born.

Unfortunately, the Equalist movement's early days spoiled all of that. Jasmine and Anchor were murdered one night in their home, simply for being a happy, mixed-nation bending couple: the anti-thesis of what the Equalists stood for. Five year old Jin escaped the Equalists because they simply didn't know she existed. She awoke during the attack, but didn't come out until her parents were dead. After that, she ran away, into the Republic City night.

Thirteen years of survival have made Jin smart, savvy, and hard-wired for doing whatever it takes to stay alive. She has gone from starving to stealing, and from barely having enough for herself to handing it out to others. She works the middle and upper class areas, stealing from people. She leaves a small metal or wood disc with the image of a flying frog in it.

I live, I die, I live again!

Kassy has rather cool and smooth skin. I always thought (or remembered?) Dimitri as being warmer than usual due to his power. Her hands are probably like a soft ice pack.

Kassy saw that look on his face, and saw his eyes leave the present. She'd seen him do this before, but never in front of her. It was just something she picked up on. Knowing full well Dima would deny it to high heaven if she asked, Kassy had kept quiet about it.

She was lucky. She didn't remember most of the experience with Slade and Kijani, having been unconscious for most of it. Still, she had nightmares of a sort, her whole body burning with the memory of pain. Sometimes she had to dump ice into her pool just to sleep. She'd never told Dimitri, figuring his memories were far worse. There was no right for her to complain about shapeless night terrors.

This was no time to stay silent, though. Without giving a damn about the consequences, she reached across the table and cupped Dimitri's face in her hands. "You don't have to say anything." She looked him steady in the eyes. "You're here, with me. Not there." A tiny bit of inner predator showed in her smile. "Also if we ever encounter those two again, I will not hesitate to interrupt one of their minds. I am merciful, not pacifistic." There was a difference. One was letting a shark eat you without trying to stop it, the other was leaving the shark be unless it tried to eat you, at which point you cut it from gill to tail without guilt.

"You're okay, Dima." With a definitely wicked grin, she moved and swiftly kissed the tip of his nose, then pulled back before he could get a grip on her.
Hi. I have an idea for a non-bender... Title says you need one.
It took me a while to stop messing up Katherine and Kylix. >_< Sometimes I still mess up.
Kijani didn't want to consider that this could be the work of an insider or a spy. But she'd do it anyway. Nothing was earned in life through ignorance. "We have to. Even if it's going to be horrible, it needs to be an option discussed." She checked her phone as it buzzed. "Uh... apparently Kat's calling 5 year reunion. You going, or should I patch you through digitally from the site?"

Kassy couldn't stop the wave of tears that came. Especially when Harry looked at her for so long. She knew how hard that must have been for him. For her own solace and his, she hugged him, burying her face in his shoulder so he didn't have to look anymore. "I don't know. I... I don't remember who to call. I feel lost." Her voice was muffled in his clothes. Thank goodness she had at least one friend here. She didn't want to be alone anymore, not ever again.
Don't forget to answer the PM, Caits. *hugs, gives ice cream*
