Kijani clung to Connor and carefully took in the scenery. He was right, it was breathtaking. She wondered if she could get to Phoebe's little garden and read someday. And then the sparkling stars above them, twinkling and beckoning and beautiful.

Before she really knew what she was doing, Kijani carefully shifted in Connor's arms. She leaned forward, and quickly, before logic could set in and stop her, she pressed a soft, nervous, but eager kiss to Connor's mouth.
"Gelato? Sure. Maybe we could go for authentic Italian beforehand?" She offered him a hopeful smile. The check came, she paid for it, and rose up. "Shall we?" She headed outside, looking up at the city lights. Somehow they made her nostalgic and brand new all at once. Or maybe the brand new part was Connor's doing?

"Back to the sky?"
Me too!
Kijani listened to the story, eyes wide. Imagine, your parent coming to save you from danger. Heck, the suit was just a bonus, it was the act that made a hero out of his dad... Kijani forced a smile to her lips, pushing down the sudden well of pain bubbling up in her. Her hand crept to her side as a sharp, stabbing pain struck her. Without a wince, she snagged a piece of sushi from Connor's plate and grinned. "That's an awesome story. Your dad sounds like a really cool person." That was all she could trust herself to say at this point. She finished off her sushi to avoid having to talk, and called for the bill.

"So I... I've sort of been holding your hand with the food thing. What do you want to eat? New York is great for international food- if they make it on Earth, I garuntee you I can find it in the city."
*sleepy yawn* >< Must... finish...
Kijani laughed softly. "School was a joke to me." She quieted once the food came, and happily watched Connor take his first bite. She didn't really expect him to jump for joy over it- honestly, it was more about the experience than anything else. "Well, maybe sushi won't be your favorite. There's plenty more food in the world." She grinned. "Maybe next time we'll try Indian food. You ever had curry? That stuff is amazing."

She silenced for a while as she ate. When she was most of the way done, she spoke to Connor again. "So... when did you first learn your dad was a superhero? I mean, I'm sure he didn't try to hide it from you, but... when did you really know?"
Should we fast forward after Connor gets his first bite of sushi?
Kijani chuckled. "We've got to get you out of the lab sometimes. But you should really read Shadows of the Empire. It's really one of the best Star Wars fiction out there." She rubbed the back of her neck in a shy fashion. "I could recite some of it for you. I have this weird thing where I remember everything I read."
Sorry I've been absent. I'll try to get the date all over and done with tonight. You've been patient, Caits, I appreciate it.

Connor had never been to a sushi place before, so he was willing to result her judgement. As they ordered, and that task was out of the way, his nervousness came back and he looked down, twisting his napkin around his fingers. You're such a dork, he thought to himself. "So" he said, grasping at something to talk about, "I know you like to read. What books do you like?"

Kijani laughed softly. "It'd be faster to tell you what books I don't like. Those would be textbooks, because they're too basic and often heavily biased. I don't like self-help books, either... those are just brainwashing, telling the weak how they're supposed to live and think." She paused, thinking. "And then there's the whole section of religious text that I give a very wide berth. But other than those three- I read anything I can get my hands on. I mean, I prefer it to be quality, but I've read everything from Chaucer to Tolstoy, to whoever keeps putting out those awesome Star Wars novels..." She went a bit red, and chuckled, rubbing the back of her neck. "I'm a closet Sith Lord."
