As the stranger headed away, Jinny relaxed and breathed out. She started to move as well. Her low weight and small frame made her steps quiet, but her practice at sneaking around in places she wasn't supposed to be in made her motions approach complete silence. The jostling of the bag on her back made more noise than she did, and she wasn't sure how to mask that yet.

Apparently she and this stranger were headed in the same direction. Jinny realized this after it had been another two miles and he hadn't changed course. She was running out of cover, though, soon she'd be almost completely out in the open. But she didn't dare reveal herself. It was too close to town. Even if this man didn't kill her, he could easily take her back to where she'd come from. Which was just as good as being dead, in her eyes.
I have no idea how Kijani's going to manage this... her power is so repressed inside, it'd take actual danger to push it out.
Kijani shook her head slightly. "Even if he gets your speed, he's not going to be dumb with it. It's not a big enough room for that kind of attack. In an open field there might be an opening for that, but an enclosed space?"
*nods* Okay. Hmmm... what's his costume like? And can you go over his powers?
I'd like an espionage class for Kijani- perhaps taught by Black Widow. Because that'd be freakin' sweet.
Kijani fidgeted, very slightly, as the old man took her story for truth. That had been easy enough, but the question of her lodging was an important one. She honestly hadn't expected the town not to have rooms to rent. How far out of town was she? When he mentioned the orchard, her eyes lit up. “That sounds like just the place. If your daughter agrees to it, of course, I am definitely in need of a chaperone. She would be well paid, as well, and honestly it would not be hard work. My usual servant is quite elderly so I don't like to tax her much.” She smiled warmly. “Mr. Brown, you are a true gentleman. I don't know anyone else who would help me so readily.”

She looked around herself, just taking in her surroundings. There was something immediately different about this place. It was very green, for one thing. She was far too used to steel and stone, brass and bronze. Here, there were trees and grass, and ripe-looking fruit. Also, something else... that she couldn't quite put her finger on. It revealed itself all at once. “...do you smell that? That... wonderful, loamy scent?” She inhaled slowly as if sniffing a fine wine. “It's so... rich.”
Kijani turned to the girl who'd spoken up. "I think that's the point of the exercise. Not to win, but to learn. There are a thousand lessons in defeat." Part of an old Chinese koan.
What does Sue look like again? All I remember is red hair and headphones.
Kijani's eyes rounded as she watched their teacher grow claws and sharp teeth. "Well, now I know why he's called Mimic. That's not even fair." She tapped the end of the pen against her nose, thinking. "But maybe..." If this man's power was imitation, maybe she could subvert that by not giving him anything to imitate. After all, she'd learned to hide her powers a long time ago.
And we're back! I find it hard to follow multiple focuses, and I don't know who's active- or what they even look like. SO it's hard for me to be inclusive when I don't know who to include.
