Anthony watches her closely, looking for any sign that she'd slip back into the past. "When I came back with the information I had found, you had fallen asleep. I tried to wake you but couldn't, so I carried you over here. I waited for over an hour for you to wake up, but grew impatient, so here we are."

Kijani groaned softly, her pounding head not letting up. She closed her eyes, and images flitted across her mind. Quick ones, just barely visible to her consciousness. And then the words came. The cold hard facts that she'd read, that had impressed themselves into her memory permanently. She could read them in her mind's eye just as clearly as if she were holding them in her hands. "...that was a weak lie, even for you." She sighed. "I remember... reading your information, and then..." She frowned, as all she could come up with was copper and bleach. "It sort of gets hazy after that." Her hand went through her hair, trying to get it back into some semblance of order. "...If I lashed out or attacked you, I apologize. I really do. I'm working on my reflex, but sometimes the memories win."

Anthony takes advantage of the silence by going over all the data he had collected one more time, them walks to the nearest bathroom. He soon returns holding smelling salts, which he places under Kijani's nose.

Kijani grunted, nose twitching. She inhaled sharply, and groaned, her head throbbing like gnomes were pounding it with sledgehammers. Opening her eyes, she looked around rapidly, confused and startled. Her gaze finally fixated on Anthony. "...what the hell... happened?"

"See, that's what I mean." Maxine smiles slightly. "Yeah, I'm three months old. I was created by an older version of myself. Pretty crazy?"

Devika's eyebrows went up. She really had no comeback for that one. "Uh... yeah, that's pretty up there on the 'weird shit-o-meter."
Okies. Thank you.
Uh... what are smelling salts?
*Burrows under a blanket* The kids with powers that I mentioned... they're all other characters of mine. Depending on how things go, one or more of them may make an appearance.

"I've never been normal. But it doesn't seem like three months is very long to live." Maxine stood there thinking about it a bit.

Devika looked puzzled. "What... what do you mean, three months?" She kept turning the phrase over in her mind, but couldn't figure out what Maxine was talking about.

Anthony writes down everything Kijani says, never taking his eyes off of her. In response to her question, he taps the pen against he chin thoughtfully, then says, "I suppose that's good enough for today. I suggest you get some sleep now." As he mentions sleep, he motions to the couch in the adjoining living room.

Kijani nodded bleakly, carefully rising. She managed to stagger to the couch, holding her side the entire time. Slumping down onto it, she dropped into not just sleep, but an unconsciousness as deep as if someone had drugged her.
I apologize for the block text.

Incredibles sequel, huh? *googles that*

II need to pass out, see ya'll in hours.

Anthony frowns slightly as he says, "I told you to tell me you remember. What do you mean by other stuff, and what powers do you remember?"

Kijani shivered in the corner. She didn't want to remember other stuff. "They... put me in the water." She paused, letting out a shuddering breath. "And... they wouldn't let me get up. They... h-held my head... under... and..." She made a slightly strangled noise. "And just when I was gonna drown, they'd pull me out." Shutting her eyes, she slid down into the corner, her body curled. "They would write things down. And start over." Her chest hurt thinking about it. "...they cut me. All over. My arms. My legs... my tummy. Little cuts, they would bleed and no one would give me a bandaid or anything- they just watched me..." She shook her head. Her dark skin still had faint, small scars on her body, but no one had ever been close enough to take notice. Kijani had used plenty of creams and agents to make the scars fade, and used her clothing to cover the more obvious ones. "The others... they were kids like me. Some of them were older... but a lot of them were younger. One girl was only five. She could make things fly." Kijani chewed her bottom lip. "She had nightmares and wet the bed. And then there was a boy with red hair... he burned stuff. He must have done..something... because they took him away. And a chubby girl with white hair. She could make all sorts of things- lights, and pictures, and even make herself invisible, but it was all fake." Her head jerked up, and her eyes were pleading. "...d-did I do better, now?"
Thanks! *goes to post real quick*
Quick, give me a list of random superpowers. Mundane or fantastic, doesn't matter.

This is for everyone, by the way.

One post, then I nap. I had a horrible night for sleep and my brain is mush.
