"I know Connor's too... clean for this type of thing." Kijani raised her eyebrows, feeling a sudden burst of rage at the mention of the alien. "Every time she speaks into my brain, I all but cuss at her, then block her out." Her jaw was clenched. "I don't like telepaths. My mind is my own, not someone's book to open and read at will." She breathed out with a burst of anger, and let the feeling pass. "...if you can get her to promise not to get into my head, she would make an excellent candidate." She paused, and a wry smile came to her lips. "There's nothing in the sandwich by the way. To find a good enough drug, I'd have to go poking around here- and as you said, all of the doors are DNA locked. I didn't check yet, but I'm pretty sure you don't keep any truth serum or knockout pills in your bathroom cabinet. Your food is safe." She paused again, looking up at him with a hint of her usual mischief. "Unless you don't like mustard."

After the tigers had been cared for, Anthony strides back into his house, his cheeks slightly flushed. He says to Kijani, "Before we confront your grandmother, we'll need to visit my father. He has a strange fascination with keeping trophies and mementos of his successes, so if any place has more information about the matter at hand, it'll be at his home. Afterwards, we'll find Ms. Waller. We'll need a couple of people to go with us, but they need to be trustworthy and not afraid to get dirty. I've chosen one acquaintance that has already agreed to come with us. Do you have any suggestions for another?"

Kijani took the time to think about it, her lips twisted into a slight frown. "You're asking for something that seems next to impossible to find at this school. Most of the students are far too... linear to be both good enough to be trusted, and yet smart enough to be ruthless." She thought a bit more. Connor would help if she asked, but he certainly wouldn't play dirty. Sue, perhaps? Definitely loyal, but she was certain Sue would hold back if things got messy. Finally, Kijani shook her head. "I don't know anyone who fits the bill, unfortunately." She paused, then jerked her thumb backward. "I made you a sandwich."

Again thinking she knew what Devika was saying Maxine nodded. "I don't know what I was built for. The other me left before telling me why I was made." She frowned slightly at the mention of exams. "We have exams? I don't think I'll do very well with those either."

"Oh. I'm sorry... I'm not really sure what I'm doing here, either. But I'm sure we'll find a purpose for all this learning eventually." Devika nodded, then went to reassure her. "I don't think all classes have exams. And this isn't the written kind. We have to display what we've learned so far. Physically."
Oh, just trying to get creative. I want to finish a drawing. A story. A poem. Anything.

So far, no dice. I was hoping you'd show up.

Also, that is one ugly fuzzy baby.

*smudges the summoning circle* So... How've you been, friend?

Embarrassed slightly Maxine flushed a bit and shifted from one foot to the other. "Oh. I get that mixed up a lot." Shaking off the feeling Maxine followed Devika. She had to give the question some thought though because she didn't think to make note. "Well I went to one with Kalinda. It was about being sneaky and surprising the other person. I think the teacher was Nightcrawler.

Devika raised her eyebrows. "Yeah? That sounds interesting. But I don't think I'm at all built for sneaky. I've been taking a fighting course. I'm way behind everyone else, I don't know how I'm going to get through the practical exam."

Anthony nods, "You'll get the chance to confrot her, I assure you. And yes, the kitchen's stocked. I'd offer to make you something, but there are certain matters I need to attend to." He leads her to the kitchen, then walks into the backyard to care for his pets.

Kijani busied herself making a sandwich, before she idly watched Anthony tend to the tigers. She had less of a headache, but the less her head hurt, the more her thoughts were clear. She did not want to think.

Yeah, there was still a lot of things to learn. Because Maxine was about to show that she didn't get what Devika was saying. "They have a meter for that? That's amazing. You'll have to show me that some time." She looked around and noticed everyone else had gone. "Where did everyone go?"

Devika giggled softly. "I was being sarcastic, Maxine. People do that all the time. As for where everyone else went... I guess they had stuff to do." She gestured for Maxine to walk. "C'mon. What classes are you taking?"
Anyone seen Dioxide lately?

"I lied for your benefit, although I admit that it was a half-baked lie. I thought that perhaps you'd want to forget that you were so vulnerable around me, so I tried to give you an alternate story to go with." Anthony says with half a grin. "Now," he asks, "are you ready to face the facts?"

Kijani shrugged. "Better you than anyone else. They'd give me pity. At least you allow me some semblance of pride." She sighed at his question. "I... I just have to know why. Why she could do it. How she could do it." And where had the lie began? Had her grandmother ever cared? Had it all been some long-term game for her? "I... I have to contact her. Face her down with the truth. See if she tries to wiggle her way out, or if she'll level with me." There had to be some explanation. "Hey, Anthony..." She was going to ask what was in it for him, what she now owed him for this veritable fount of information. But she didn't want to know just yet. One set of bad news at a time. She sighed, and switched her question. "You don't happen to have anything to eat around this place, do you?"
