I like fun stuff, with strong females. Stuff that doesn't become too heavy. I'm also a sucker for the best art... My era's the Timm/Diniverse, so...
Hm... Are there any you can recommend to me? I've heard great things about Harley's series.
Name: Kassandra Keigwan
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Race: Mer
Rank: Student Year 1
Personality: Soft hearted and sweet, but with strong beliefs and moral center.
BRIEF History: Kassandra is a mer with rare magic, a sort that the race as a whole tried to weed out over the centuries. She is hated and feared by most of her kind because of what she's capable of. After spending years suffering the ire of her aunt, she left home as soon as she was able.
Description: Heavyset, dark skin, white hair, orange eyes. Has an orange tailfin in her mer form.

Weapon of choice: None yet.
Abilities/Powers: Illusion magic, future visions (intermittent), mind control
Other: Kassy can hold her two-legged form for up to 8 hours when properly hydrated. If she does get dehydrated, she will slowly revert back to her usual form. She also has to sleep in water.

More info on her magic:

Okay, so Kassy's future visions come when they want, pretty much at anytime. She's only safe from them when she's asleep. What she receives is sort of a distorted clip show. Images, sounds, sensations... They don't always make sense. Usually, the more accurate that version of the future is, the more times the vision will repeat itself. Its clarity increases as it gets closer and closer to being reality. Unfortunately, this means that Kassy can rarely stop what she sees may happen, because sometimes she simply doesn't understand what she sees until it's too late to circumvent. I'd stick to her seeing small, distant events for the beginning, of course, and if there was anything major you wanted to allude to, I'd be happy to use Kassy as a sort of hinter/early warning system.

Okay, her mind control. Basically, she can do anything from a very gentle suggestion, to a full on mental brainwash. She basically speaks into people's minds. How well her commands are obeyed depends on who she's commanding. The weak-minded or less practiced will be easily led, those with naturally tough or stubborn minds, or with decent mental barrier training, will be harder to control. The thing of it is, Kassy will never use this power, unless it's a literal life or death situation. If someone was coming at her with a harpoon, she'd have to stop, think, and deliberately choose to stop them from inside their head. It isn't reflexive, so she really can't do it by accident. She's worked very hard to keep this part of her ability very, very well guarded, because it basically made her whole city hate and shun her for what she was capable of. (Whether she used it or not.)
See, that 'right now' is what kills me. It just makes me feel like, at anytime, anything I'm reading will just become obsolete.
I don't know as much about DC as I would like. There's just so much to follow and I never know what's canon. That's not even taking into effect the constant retcons and reboots.
Jin was in the garage, where she had a workbench set up. She was fiddling with an invention of her own design, one that would hopefully make her fighting a little bit more easy. Her battle orbs had hidden blades inside, ones that were triggered by the radio signals put out by her tech gloves. But she still had to control their movement with her telekenisis. It could be a problem if she was in too long a fight. Without her powers, she had to rely on her fists. Usually that was enough to take down the average criminal in Gotham, but she wasn't in Gotham anymore.

It had been a week in Star City. She was missing her home. Growing up on the streets had helped her know the city like the back of her hand. Now she had to do it all over again in a new place. Luckily, she had a way of blending in with the seedier element, still. Even almost 2 years in a stable home hadn't quite taken the roughness out of her. There was still so much she had to learn, and she hadn't forgotten how to get dirty to learn it. She was certain no one knew, but she'd packed a set of worn, dirty hand me downs, that fit her loose and made her look like who she was. Or rather, who she used to be. Tiny, hungry, and homeless. The downtrodden were much more likely to respond to one of their own. So far, she hadn't had a chance to get out and gain info, but she hoped it would happen soon.

The alarm blaring overhead made her nearly drop her tools in surprise. She clamped her gloved hands down over her ears, clenching her teeth. "Dammit..." The alarm was loud enough for her to still hear the information. "Oh, goody. A real fight." She rushed from the workbench, and to her room to get her gear on. Her suit was definitely girly. Purple and pink with touches of black. It was a deliberate attempt to separate herself from the Dark Knight, who was all blacks and grays and shadows. He may have been her mentor, but she was no Batgirl. Strapping on her belt with weighted orbs, she checked her gloves. As she pressed a hidden button on either wrist, the gloves came to life with pink light threading through like circuitry. After checking everything else, she went to the main room to wait for the others.
"O-oh. Okay." She gently set Blaze down near Luna, and took the Pokeballs. Those vanished into one grubby pocket. The Pokedex she handled carefully, unsure of what to do with it. "Hm." She pointed the Pokedex in the direction of Blaze, to hear a voice inside start to speak.

"Fennekin, the Fox Pokemon. Eating a twig fills it with energy, and its roomy ears give vent to air hotter than 390 degrees Fahrenheit." More words appeared on the screen, and her eyes roamed blankly over them. Then, curious, she pointed the Pokedex toward Luna.

"Liepard, the Cruel Pokemon. Their beautiful form comes from the muscles they have developed. They run silently in the night." The girl scowled.

"You don't listen to this dumb machine, Luna. You're not cruel at all!" She looked toward the Professor. "Ah... thank you for the stuff." She didn't quite know what to do with the Pokedex. "Someone's gonna swipe this pretty thing from me if they see it." Her stomach let out an agitated gurgle- now that it had the granola bar, it was hungry for more. "Oooh..." She wobbled slightly. "I gotta sit down." And she did so, right on the floor of the lab. Luna went over and started to wash her face with its rough tongue, while Blaze climbed into her lap, turned a few circles, and settled down.
So... please tell me Victor brought her an apple. I have something kind of cute planned. A lowering of one of her walls, so to speak.
*thinks as she looks at the minis* Jin looks... kinda weird compared to the others. I think she needs more leg coverage. >>;

Jin: I'm gonna get shot in the thigh.
That seemed to take the girl by surprise. Her expression softened as she looked at the two little Pokemon. "O-oh... no, I don't want them to... to just be... stuck. I mean, that's not fair to them, being all lonely..." Her gaze turned downward, to her dear partner Luna. She crouched low, to gently hug her precious Pokemon around the neck. "What do you say, Luna? I mean... you'll always be the best, but... maybe we can help someone else, y'know?" The Pokemon licked her trainer's hair, making the girl's dark locks stick up funny as she let go. With a yowl, Luna padded right into the Professor's part of the office, sniffing gently at the two remaining Pokemon. The Froakie backed up, making nervous croaking noises. The Fennekin, however, leaned down to sniff Luna right back. It made a little yelp, which Luna responded to. Then Luna, very carefully, leaned up on the desk, and took the Fennekin gently by the ruff on the back of it's neck, carrying it carefully as if it were her own baby. Calmly, she held it for her trainer, who gently held the little yellow fox.

"What do you say, little guy? You want to be my friend? It'll be tough, so you've gotta be brave. Can you be brave?" The Fennekin wagged it's tail and burped up a little ring of smoke. The girl laughed and hugged it to her chest. "I think I'll name you... hm. Smokey?" She looked to the Pokemon, whose tail dropped. "No? Uh... Ember?" This time, it's little tongue poked out. "Hm. Now about Blaze?" The Fennekin let out a short little bark, and wagged it's tail. "Aha! Blaze, then." She happily rubbed it's ears, looking much less wary and somehow more innocent.
