Kijani was glad that the girl didn't already know how to be a maid. It meant that she would have more freedom, and could basically make her own rules. The pay she wouldn't shirk on. She had the money to make it worth Feather's while, and keep her father happy. It wasn't until the girl started talking about stations and engines that Kijani realized she was somewhat... outclassing young Feather, in a few significant ways. She opened her mouth to politely correct the girl, but then Feather spoke again, this time with more helpful information. No shops, but a traveling merchant. It would have to do. Thank goodness she'd packed books. And then Feather made her puzzled again, because of course Seventh Day would be two days after Fifth Day... everyone knew that, or could at least work it out for themselves. Once young Feather had finished her little speech, Kijani put a smile on. Poor young girl seemed desperate to please. Kijani could deal with that- Feather was sweet. Simple, goodness knew, but sweet all the same. Perhaps she could teach the girl a thing or two, starting with vocabulary.

“Thank you, Feather, for all of your helpful information. We're going to get along quite well.” She paused. Feather seemed quite young, and unsure of the formal rules of class and station. Maybe this would be to her advantage. “I would appreciate to learn from you, Feather. Such things that I could not learn myself. Cooking and such.” She smiled, warmly. “I hope we can learn to be friends.” It didn't seem quite right for her to trick someone as... mild as Feather seemed to be. It would just be too easy, like playing pranks on a young child. It took most of the fun out of things. So perhaps she'd simply ask Feather for what she wanted, instead of sneaking around.

Turning her gaze back to the two men at the house, she frowned slightly. The conversation seemed to be over, as the man known as “Vinegar” was up and moving around. Though he seemed to be doing that moving under some duress.

“Feather, what do you know about our host?”
Uh... I don't even know what the first class is. Are we all going to group up like yesterday?
Kijani woke up to darkness. For a brief, half-awake moment, she thought she was blind, and flung herself forward. It was then that she realized she'd fallen asleep reading, again, with the book taking up residence over her face. "I really...should be used to that." She yawned and stretched her long limbs, and got up to go about her day. She had barely unpacked from yesterday, so most of her things were still folded in her massive suitcase. After pushing aside several pounds worth of reading material that she'd brought from home, she picked out a nice looking button down shirt and a pair of jeans, pairing that with her favorite flat shoes. She hadn't been dressed for physical activity yesterday, and was determined not to make the same mistake twice. She packed her notebook, fresh loose paper, and spare reading material in her bag, and was off. Her stomach was roaring for breakfast, and she was determined to make up for yesterday's embarrassment.
I'm interested. If not as the party rogue/thief, then as a specific sort of mage.
Kijani said goodbye to Sue and the others, before making her way to the library. It was beautiful and expansive, modern, but with cozy touches. Big chairs in the corner for reading, study desks, even a wing for music CDs. Awesome. She checked out several books: wushu, capoeira, breakdancing. Then a few on various languages: Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and sign language. She hadn't realized the last one would come in handy until she met Sue. With her arms full of books, she walked across campus toward the girls' dorms.
Jinny was somewhere between sleep and waking by the time the sun started to rise. Once the light hit her eyes, she grumbled a bit and rolled over to get away from it. But she was awake, more or less. With a sleepy sigh, she got up and wandered deeper into the thin forest. She went to the bathroom under a tree, then returned to her pack to carefully dig out breakfast. It was bread, carefully wrapped with a thin cloth. It had been warm, once, but now it was dry around the edges and starting to get hard. She tore it into pieces and started to eat them one by one, watching the sun come up and keeping a close eye on her surroundings.
These vacant eyed unicorns are creeping me out.
*grins* Not gonna lie- I have absolutely no idea about any of the things you're selling. But I admire your passion. It must be awesome to have a trade like that. I hope things get back in gear for you soon, though. I know all about rain delays.
"My parents are very... normal, actually." She smiled a bit. "Just ordinary people." Sometimes it paid off, being first generation. She could tell the truth about her parents while keeping the more impressive truth about her grandmother hidden.
Flood, if you're here, I've got to crash. >< Sleep is necessary.
