Anemia sucks. I feel like there's an invisible vampire sucking my energy through a straw.

@c3p-0h Totally honest, I really love Meryn too! Lily is an amazing character (and probably the most able to keep everyone in line, including Spook) and Alex's development is taking wonderfully surprising turns every round.

And yeah, this is all just what I'm thinking right now. :)

Ok I'm gonna think on how best to continue while fixing the modding mistakes I've made while I got lazy, haha!

How about . . . saving another city from imminent destruction? They see something on the horizon heading for the next city, and we travelers are the ones who can save those citizens?

We can pick up new players of characters who live in that new city, while the current characters get a chance to split up and find their own strengths.

Thoughts?
Ok guys, I love you all to death and the initial concept of this RP was awesome but . . . I think I know what went wrong. There aren't a lot of choices in this RP, and there's not nearly enough option to do anything other than follow-the-leader.

I know for the future to put more responsibility in the hands of the PCs from the getgo.

Also, I have to be honest, I didn't plan much farther in the actual gameplay than opening the portal to the void, haha. I feel this RP getting completely washed-out and blah. I'll do better next time!

Since this is probably not going to get any farther, I'll tell you what was planned: Spook is a victim of the black-crystal disease. That's why he keeps himself mostly covered up. That's also why he doesn't sleep, and why he doesn't have dreams: he CAN'T use sigils, so he needs you guys to do it for him.

The little mechanical bird is actually a living person speaking remotely through the bird. Her human self is locked up somewhere, trapped for a very long time, only able to see the world through this bird that holds a piece of her soul.

The disease eats the dreams of everyone who is nearby an infected person/animal (except for Spook -- but that's complicated). Those dreams are being collected by the entity that is the source of the disease, which is willing to sacrifice all humanity for the sake of amassing all the dreams and their power. That entity basically believes that collecting dreams into a collective consciousness and killing off the physical bodies is doing humanity a favor. Cue philosophical debates, yadda yadda.

Oh, and Spook's real name is Oliver. He was a mage at the Temple of Spring Whistling when disaster happened, and it was all destroyed. Enn is his hometown. More complicated details, haha!

So, yeah, that's the plot in a nutshell, but the execution has been sub-par. Leaving you guys so very much in the dark was probably not the best decision. xD

What to do now? Well, we could quit here and try something else -- or, if you want to keep going maybe there's a better way to go about moving forward. Let me know. ;)

Not to double-post, but given the fact that there's not a ton of choice here, anyone who hasn't posted can just let me know what your character would do in this situation (attack, run, try to pet/talk to the Grit, etc) and I'll write you into the next mod post. :)

Maybe that could be an option from now on? Like, if you're not sure what to write or don't feel like you have a lot to contribute, you could let me know OOC what your character will do and we'll move to a more interesting choice-situation?

Edit: And this RP is absolutely healthy, not at all dying, no worries! ;D I'm intentionally letting a day pass without any IC posts just to see who's around or busy.

@athanshadow The PCs have all boarded a trolley/elevator thing that has descended one floor down the city side of the wall. It's docked at an emergency landing that leads inside the wall itself. A couple of Grit are currently attacking the trolley, while a bunch more Grit are on top of the wall.

You could realistically say your character had been with them when they all crammed into the trolley in a panic. xD

(also just to note, athanshadow's character is pre-approved through PM! :3)

Edit: Just edited the first post of the Characters tab to include relevant info about the city. If there's anything else you think should be clarified there, let me know!

Currently everyone is located at #9 on the city map, the west point of the wall. :)

It was nice knowing you, @Eodwyn Aether! haha! xD

@Tojin Awesome! :3 In that case, I've added the following under "Unidentified Flavourful Object":

This was Maria Loronha, and she was a refugee, of sorts. She patted her pockets, taking a mental inventory of her possessions. Notepad and pen? Check. Money? Check. Candy? Her thoughts were interrupted briefly by the sound of crackling coming from her pockets. Definitely check.

Ok guys! Remember that playlist I said I'd make? Here you go!

Originally I wanted to annotate the tracks with excerpts from your posts, but I wasn't sure you'd be ok with that, so I made do. :)

I can also totally edit more tracks into this, if there are more characters that should be represented!

(Totally overboard, but I amuse myself, so there!)

@drewccapp Yeah that's what I meant! :D There's no reason to wait for me to post again for someone to open the door, I mean!

But Kat's got it covered! ;D

@drewccapp you could go ahead and assume the door is open, I think. It's pitch black inside though. :)

The city had never been so quiet.

You never realize how much noise you're used to until it's suddenly gone. It's strange to hear your own heartbeat, and you strain to hear something else, anything familiar and comforting. People could go mad in that sort of silence.

The trolley lurched and creaked, but it held together well enough despite the scary state of its gears. With a bit of effort by Ethan and Liam, the old trolley locked in at the first emergency landing, where an unused door was set into the side of the wall. There was no railing, very little standing room, and not much between the trolley doors and a long fall.

Ethan caught a glimpse of movement in the corner of his eye.

BAM!

Something terrible slammed into the roof; the trolley dropped a few jolted inches with the impact. The black-scaled beast stood unscathed from the dent it had made, and it scraped into the metal with its claws; it raised its ugly head and peered at Ethan with murderous, unsettlingly human eyes. With a fangy muzzled grin, it whipped the air with a scorpion's tail and tore open the roof of the trolley like it was paper.

Another one -- dark and fanged, with antlers and spikes and claws like knives -- crawled headfirst down the cables with the ease of a terrible monkey. It paused, and it took hold of Katrina's wire and gave it a powerful yank.

A noise was picking up at the top of the wall. Sounded like hissing and chattering, scratching and cackling.

The first of them skittered down the mirrored inside of the wall -- some of them fell, with wings tilted back -- some of them suckered their way down, slick as frogs. But the sight to be seen was at the top of the wall, where they all crowded up to look over the edge at the city, chittering and whistling and howling and snarling. They were a dark, monstrous mass of matted fur and dark feathers, stony scales, razored horn, putrid slime and dripping fangs -- the stuff of nightmares, terrors brought to life. Occasionally, something almost-human and heartless flashed among the teeming army, and somehow that was the most frightening of all.

Periphery was theirs for the taking.

Just spent a couple hours in a mostly fruitless search for art that I can use for the Grit, only to finally decide I'm probably better off with just descriptions. xD

I'm gonna try to write now, though I'm dead tired. Will edit if I fail, haha!

Edit: did a thing.
