Dear Mr Curly,
I have done little travelling lately because I have been so dreadfully weary. Can it be true as the old Ecclesiastes said; that all things lead to weariness? Surely not. Perhaps the opposite is true: that all nothings lead to weariness. I have a peculiar feeling, Curly, that I am worn out from something I haven't yet done and the more I don't do it, the more exhausted I become. How strange. Could it be something I haven't realised? Perhaps it's something I haven't said? Something I haven't finished! It must be very large and true whatever it is and a lively struggle in the doing but I look forward to it immensely. I know I need it. First, however, I must curl up in my chair and sleep deeply with the duck. Perhaps I'll dream of this thing and wake up refreshed and do it. My fond wishes to you Mr. Curly, and to all Curly Flat.
Yours sleepily,
Vasco Pyjama

P.S. Not having breakfast can make you weary. That's for sure!

Eh, Toun doesn't much care about the ocean itself. It was really mor e of a side-effect of making Cornerstone in such a short period of time.
Gallus raised his hands defensively and broke eye contact. "I see no reason not to be honest. Ri'vashi suggested I take this time to reach out and speak with you." Gallus answered. He lowered his hands and offered a smile, "I am aware that you and Ri'vashi's relationship over this table can get a little..." Gallus hummed until he found the right word, "Adversarial at times? Now, the last thing I would wish would be for you to let your opinions go before you had a good reason, hence," Gallus gestured to himself, "Why I'm here."

While La'khay's excitement was reflected with a grin on Sabine's face, she closed her mouth when La'khay offered her a hand. "Um, if you don't mind, La'khay...we just arrived here," Sabine explained regrettably, "Do you mind if I take a few minutes to bathe myself first? We could tell you where our room is and meet you there if you like."
So, who all is going to respond to the message Kyre sent out? And who is going to accept his request for help and meet with him? I think the (likely short) meeting might be good for a collab.

@Frettzo
And will Astarte accept his invitation?

Toun might. Kyre's not egregiously pissed him off yet.
Gallus looked to the table, tensed his cheek, and nodded in agreement to Ri'vashi. "That sounds like a good idea. If we can work things out without sounding adversarial or making anyone angry, that would best."

With a singing wooden scrape against the floor, Gallus pushed out his chair and stood up. "Wish me luck."

As Gallus walked around the table and towards Dro'cahi's circle of discussion, he tried to catch Dro'cahi's eye. As soon as he did, he offered a friendly smile. "Hello there. Dro'cahi, right? My name's Gallus," he said when he reached him. He extended a hand, "I understand that you're an experienced member of the council here. Now, all this..." Gallus scrunched his nose and waved the back of his hand at the council table, "It's all highly strung and political. Makes everyone tense." Gallus raised an eyebrow, "Now, I think what we have in common is wanting what's best for everyone in this hill. With the opportunity to clear the air a bit, what are your feelings about this march?"

La'khay's insistence didn't change Sabine's views on compliments directed to herself that much. She had never enjoyed drawing too much attention to herself. Of course, she was sure that Peiter did it at least partly to tease her. She didn't mind too much in that.

As for this painting, Sabine's attention to the proposal was mostly driven by both humouring La'khay and pure curiosity. At least the last time she trusted La'khay with some form of artwork it ended up with her being groomed a beauty beyond what she had set out to try in the first place. This time might have a similarly pleasant outcome.

This time, however, Peiter would be directly involved. Sabine turned her head to face Peiter and listed her head to one side, relaxed. "Peiter? What do you think?"
Gallus bit on his lower lip as Meesei called for a short break to read the reports. Given the cacophany that could have resulted from letting unrestrained discussion roar forth, it was a good move.

As for Ri'vashi's comments, Gallus turned his head and raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Are we to expect some impassioned words in the next round?" he asked. Glancing to Meesei, he continued, "How do you two think things are going? I think it's boding well."

Just so he wasn't left out, Gallus picked up another one of the notes and began skimming through it while the champion and the clan leader spoke.

As an immediate response to Peiter's compliment, Sabine took in a small gasp and splashed his face with water. "Do not say that!" she demanded, laughing uneasily under her words, "It is embarrassing!"

The mortifying self-consciousness on Sabine's face was at first not helped by La'khay's comment. Although, her mention of making a painting of Peiter and her made Sabine crane her head out curiously. She showed her teeth as leftover from her previous grin, but otherwise her face looked thoughtful. She gave the same look to Peiter to see what his reaction was. "I have never been in a painting before," Sabine commented.

Sabine's question only hinted at her further ignorance into how paintings are made, particularly the time spent staying still that would bring another delay to her magic practice.
Meesei's words were just as astute as they needed to be. It appeared as though there was some more support for the march because of it. However, Gallus felt as though there was more to address. He flattened his hands and laid the sides of them on the table in front of him.

"I feel it needs to be said that concerns over the welfare of the clans while the warriors march are not unreasonable." Gallus addressed everyone, not just Dro'cahi, "It is important that those fears are put to rest, and in that, I believe we can." Gallus leaned back slightly and placed his palms carefully onto the table. He mildly registered his seat creaking slightly. "Right now we have it on good authority that the location of the clanhome is still a secret and that there are no significant enemy forces in the the area around Orcrest. The clanhome's secrecy also includes its current garrison size and defensibility. From what we garnered from our interrogations, the enemy plan was to weaken and ambush our current forces before marching on this place. What that says to me is that they do not have sufficient forces in place to meet the Orcrest clan's numbers in force on the field on equal terms. If they do not have that capability, then I would doubt they would have the manpower to breach the clanhome's defences in less than two months. They may not even be willing to try, given that they do not even know our numbers hidden within the clanhome. Their information is so limited that it is a gamble." Gallus angled his head to one side, "And they will have less than two months, because if we are to play this cautiously, any infiltrators will not simply be able to talk to agents within Orcrest and gain entry to the clanhome. We still have that control."

Gallus weaved his fingers together on the table once more. "Though it is only my opinion, with the information we have, I believe that the risk to the clanhome is minimised no further by keeping extra numbers in the garrison for two months."

When Peiter took his seat, Sabine propped herself up such that she was sitting in his lap more comfortably, rather than needing put strain on his arms. She still kept her arms around his neck and held her head against his collar.

With a smile, Sabine nodded to La'tahne. "It is nice to meet you, too," Sabine said. Noting that Peiter had not introduced himself, Sabine lifted her head to see his face. "This is Peiter. He is treating me like royalty for some reason." Sabine giggled, "I wonder when you will get tired of it, Peiter?"

Turning her attention back to La'tahne and La'khay, Sabine lifted her brow. "La'khay? Is La'tahne and old friend of yours?" Sabine made a guess based on their position. She was of course aware of the possibility that they could be mated as well but, as she understood it, Meesei's alignment in that matter was unusual to most people. Sabine did not want to make any embarrassing presumptions.
Gallus was glad to see that Ri'vashi was able to close a trap around Dro'cahi as soon as he questioned the defences. Still, he did prefer to keep a larger guard presence at the clanhome. While Gallus was willing to compromise he wanted to make absolutely sure that everyone understood the importance of having this stronghold taken.

"Be that as it may, the same can be said for the warband." Gallus angled his head forward and lifted his brow. "What this force is walking into is a chance to permanently cripple Clavicus Vile in this region such that no siege army could be staged within the entirety of Anequina. An assault on such a stronghold as this requires nothing to be done by halves." Gallus turned his wrist to offer a hand towards Dro'cahi, "A few groups of men could mean the difference between a swift victory and a bloody stalemate. If we overcommit to our defences, we may not have the army on the walls at the strength it was in the first place, when they return. Then the clanhome will be at more risk than ever."

The whole situation was so ridiculous that Sabine couldn't help but continue giggling as she was carried. She never expected anyone to treat her like this.

When the finally reached the bath chamber - grateful they were for it despite its size and depth - Sabine anticipated the cool water against her itching skin. However, when La'khay spoke up, Sabine was in a good enough mood that waved and regarded her with a smile. "Good afternoon, La'khay," she said brightly. She then looked to Peiter, "Shall we say hello...? I mean..." Sabine grinned, "I order you to take me over to La'khay."

Sabine, too, was curious about the Khajiit woman that La'khay was holding so closely. "What is your name?" Sabine asked, "I am Sabine."
...
I'LL MAKE A SHEET FOR ALL OF THEM I SWEARS.

We need to make a collab for what I have planned though...

Cool beans. I may be a little slow to respond at times, but PM me with a pad to share at any time you please. :)

Huh. I have been keeping up with the posts rather well. Seems ironic with all the content I have in the backburner with this RP.

Question, are there any more pieces of information about fallen angels? I'm not sure whether I'm just dealing with angel ashlings, or just insane angels, or what...

Right now I'm envisioning the assault on cornerstone being made up of fallen angels carrying a screaming hain under each arm after flying over half an ocean. As amusing an image as that is, there are just so many options for how to deal with them that I'm spoilt for choice!

Edit: And what twisted plot shall I hatch for Violet?!
The discussion had begun in earnest, but Gallus was eager to take on Dro'cahi's points. Looking for a moment at Meesei to make sure he wasn't going to interrupt her, Gallus folded his arms on the table in front of him and began to speak. "I do not think the secrecy of this place is what we should depend upon either, but at the same time, it is not necessarily the only defence this place has."

Gallus raised a hand, "Let us assume the worst case scenario. Say that once the warband marches out, there is no time before the location of the clanhome is discovered."

Gallus then offered two fingers, "That gives the enemy two months to mobilise an army, march to besiege, and overcome the defenses. In two months, there will still be enough food and water to go around. The question is whether the enemy will be able to dig through a caved in entrance, batter down a gate, or otherwise capture this place even with the minimum manpower fighting back." Gallus looked around the table, "Does anyone here doubt the integrity of the defenses in this place? Does anyone not think they could last two months?"

Just before Peiter got up, Sabine took the opportunity to clear off the visual evidence of her recent exercise.

Sabine let out a small squeal in surprise as Peiter scooped her up. She laughed and brought her arms up around Peiter's neck for support. "I thought royalty only had people obey when they ordered them!" Sabine complained with a grin. "Okay," she giggled, "I order you to bathe me."
