Dear Mr Curly,
I have done little travelling lately because I have been so dreadfully weary. Can it be true as the old Ecclesiastes said; that all things lead to weariness? Surely not. Perhaps the opposite is true: that all nothings lead to weariness. I have a peculiar feeling, Curly, that I am worn out from something I haven't yet done and the more I don't do it, the more exhausted I become. How strange. Could it be something I haven't realised? Perhaps it's something I haven't said? Something I haven't finished! It must be very large and true whatever it is and a lively struggle in the doing but I look forward to it immensely. I know I need it. First, however, I must curl up in my chair and sleep deeply with the duck. Perhaps I'll dream of this thing and wake up refreshed and do it. My fond wishes to you Mr. Curly, and to all Curly Flat.
Yours sleepily,
Vasco Pyjama

P.S. Not having breakfast can make you weary. That's for sure!

Sabine's attention was so split that the time they had left was not worth keeping exact track of any longer. If Ahnasha had not planted the book by now, they would be leaving in a loud fashion. That much was certain.

More fortunate news was the topic of Arinette and Do'rhajul's conversation. If they were talking about Yerig, and Sabine strongly suspected as much, the cracks in the team's cohesion were present as ever. She remained still to listen on, though she kept glancing up to the lookout.

They were stuck. Sabine could not see where Ahnasha was from this distance, but if she was anywhere near where the Orc lookout had wandered, she would be making no progress. Sabine thought about making a distraction. She quickly dismissed the idea. She could hardly do anything without being discovered.

A thought came to her. One of the automatons could distract the lookout. It would be risky, but setting a sphere to noisily trundle away from the camp might at least divert his attention. Sabine hesitated as she tried to envision what could go wrong. She waited to see what the lookout did next in the meantime.
It relies on a couple of conditions. You can probably see the steps I'm taking to get to it, but beyond the shake-up event it's more of a 'see what happens' type of thing. I will say that it relies on the book being successfully and secretly planted.
I had a thought in the shower that could take the story in an interesting direction, but it might shake up this mission a bit. I'll have it come in near to the end of this sneaky mission unless something else happens in the meantime.
With Do'rhajul and Arinette so close, Sabine was on the brink of panic. She was hardly able to keep track of the passing seconds. Frozen as she was, she desperately put together how much time she thought they had left. It was about time to send the signal to Ahnasha that she had one minute left on the enchantment. They would not be able to relocate the dwemer spheres without making noise from then on.

The lookout's movement caught Sabine's eyes. Ahnasha felt her ring turn twice. Look east.

Only a few moments of discussion passed between Do'rhajul and Arinette before Sabine was confident she was still undetected. She slowly and silently took another breath. She had to strain to hear what they were saying. Even then, she couldn't make the words out.

They were almost underneath her. She could shuffle forward on her branch. With little else in her mind to heed it, she took the chance. Holding the branch beneath her between her curled legs and leaning forward on one hand, she crawled herself forward at a ponderous pace. She held her breath most of the time. She had to make sure not to loosen any flakes of bark or disturb any leaves.
Sabine hoped that the two most powerful enemies in the camp were not moving towards her. She had to fall back on hoping that they were not coming towards her because of her. It was difficult enough to read their motives in the dim light but multiple issues came into her mind. Even if they were wandering towards her by happen stance, she might accidentally make a sound or Do'rhajul might smell her.

Her breathing slowed to silence. The only sound to give Sabine away, if their hearing was supernaturally sharp, would be the hammering of her heart in her chest. She reassured her grip on the control rod, ready to awaken the spheres at a moment's notice.

But they had not noticed her yet, she believed.

Ahnasha was checking the tents already. If they were lucky, she would find the right one early.

The realisation that her escape would prove difficult while Do'rhajul and Arinette were right beneath her came only too late. As slowly and quietly as she could, Sabine fished in her pockets for a strong-smelling herb that could mask her scent, even if it would be an unusual scent in such a locale.
@BBeast You know what? Sure, that'll work. I'll shove the Xos arc into year 5. Here's another draft:

Also, note for timeline: Tauga never left Xerxes until she was dragged from it half dead. Writing reached Metera at about the same time as Chirality, and over the ten or twenty years thereafter it had a crunchy boom characterised by silk exports and massive stone architecture.

Oh yeah, that's right. I think that point was there before I corrected by understanding of it back when the droningbirds were deployed. I'll change the Xerxes evacuation timepoint to reflect that.
From her vantage point up on a tree bough, Sabine kept her breathing shallow. The seconds counted by. She missed one or two and tried to skip some seconds to adjust. Such mistakes were inevitable. Keeping watch was more important.

With Arinette awake, the risk grew. Sabine did not so much as blink in watching her. She did not appear alarmed. Still, she sent the signal for a cardinal direction for Ahnasha. One feeling that felt as though the ring was turning in her finger for a moment. One of those signals was for 'north.' She would spot Arinette if she had not already.

Sabine wondered if Ahnasha could take Arinette's staff. That would solve many of their problems. She was not the one sneaking through the camp, however.

For lack of any other meaningful activity, Sabine held her breath and strained to try and hear what Arinette and Do'Rhajul were saying.
Placing Osveril's goings-about on this timeline might need some guesswork. In terms of major world events, the best points of reference I have are the Sculptors starting to gain knowledge of alchemy, which follows Teknall and Toun's visit to Jvan and presumably precedes his birth, and the Pronobii resurrection, which follows it by a moderate(?) spell (Termite doubtless knows better than me where it would go). Overall, though, I'd say the birth wouldn't have happened later than 5 PR, if only because it was still the last turn. This should currently put Osveril in late 5 to early 6 PR at most.

In short, Osveril and time still have a tense relationship. Do correct any blunders I may have made there.

Osveril hasn't really interacted with hain in a memorable way yet. He'll get a time point when that happens.

EDIT: Damn it, I made a new page in the thread! See the bottom of the previous page to see the updated timeline!
@Muttonhawk Helvana saving the village should be placed a little while after the battle of Xerxes then. She was born before the battle, but after Vestec proposed it with Logos and only two months at most passed since then. I'm thinking about writing a small post of her finding the remains of the city in fact.

And I was thinking. I wanted to do a colab with Conata, but I didn't factor in them being two years apart from each other.

Conata is possibly going to go through a short timeskip for a few years to catch up with the turn, so we may have the opportunity for a collab at some point. Especially if Helvana is still heading to Alefpria.

@Muttonhawk
Ehh, I have a vague idea of what to do next, but just haven't really had the motivation to develop it further.

And now comes new updates in TF2 and Dota 2, so that hasn't helped either.

Gerd derm vidja gaems.

Tell you what. How about after your next Dota game, you tab out and write one paragraph. That ought to haunt you into it!

@Muttonhawk

The ogre expansion into the Hain confederation was happening during and before the Realta attack. Not that it matters too much; the Realta invasion didn't impact the ogres much, it's just that whenever the ogres inevitably interact with nearby civilizations a few years down the line, those civilizations will have recovered somewhat from the Realta and the ogres will have had time to consolidate their holdings and begin looking for more.

That timestamp that you have for the beginning of the ogres' southwards expansion is probably closer to when Dargok's expedition tried to cross the Ironhearts and fought the battle against the organized urtelem and the sculptor.

I had envisioned Kyre's death having happened right around there, but it's odd for there to be such a large gap between that and him visiting the Celestial Citadel. Even by divine standards four years is a long time to do nothing, and I had imagined all the events concerning Xos on Galbar would happen within half a year. That'd be starting with him killing Kyre and ending with the inevitable confrontation between him and the trifecta that's plotting against him.

Edit: Oh, and Aihtiraq appears before all of this because he shows up in Shaqmar's story which entirely predates the Realta invasion. Though you did just say "rumors of Aihtiraq spread", so admittedly there's some leeway between the time of his actual appearance and his existence being common known among the Hain.

Yeah, some points on this timeline are on more of an archaeological basis. That meaning that points appear when there is evidence in the culture or artefacts of the hain. Aihtiraq was probably not seen as such a big deal until enough hain corroborated stories about him, hence his timepoint.

Anyway, I've shifted a few points around for everyone, so how's this?:
