It's hard for me to believe you, when you don't inform us ahead of time that you suddenly decided to give this creature an entirely different stat block. We were never told that could happen, and if we had been, I'd have used a different spell while he was still prone.
@TGM I'm not even mad. Frankly, I'm disappointed. I like this character, and I like this group. I even like Dark as a DM. I just don't like the idea of the rules of the game sporadically changing ever time I want to do something the DM doesn't want me to. If you say you would want to play under a DM who did that to you, then I'd call you a liar.
@Dark Cloud after modifying the stat line to make it more likely the creature would make the save. If you did that to anyone else, especially during a combat against the creature, they would be livid. And rightfully so.
I didn't do anything to even the odds as that would have reflected negatively on my part, and the roll was simply how it went.
Except that's exactly what you did, and you're right. It does reflect poorly on you.
Can we not rule lawyer in a casual game with an obviously lax DM. That'd be nice.
I wouldn't have an issue with it, except this is the second time now this 'casual DM' has ruled against letting dice decide, in a dice game, the outcome of actions my character takes. Being lax with the rules is one thing. Actively nerfing my character because he doesn't like how I'm playing him is something I take personal offence to.
@Dark Cloud except those weren't his stats for the combat, and until you decided he was special he was just a goblin. If you want to just say he survives because of DM fiat, say that. Don't justify giving him 2 relevant saves (no class gives wis And con, it doesn't happen) and a 14 in wisdom on top of that over the usual 8 a normal goblin had, because you Wanted him to have better odds. Let the dice decide, or don't.
@Dark Cloud Friend, I'm gonna have to call bullshit. Goblins don't have a prof in wisdom natively, and they definitely don't have a 14 wisdom score even if they did. Care to do that roll fairly? Cause as it stands those numbers say the DM wanted to influence fate, and not let the dice decide, which is a dangerous president to set.
@TGM if you want well reason justifications you're going to have to wait until I'm not driving home from work
