They are, but they are all things regarding enthalpy. Enthalpy is the internal energy of a system, so Accelerator can define a system that he's manipulating, and add or retract energy from it. In this case, he removed the kinetic energy from the system of moving shards.

Enthalpy is basically energy, and he can control energy in things. Kinetic, potential, electric, etc. I'm minoring in chemistry, so I have to know a lot on the subject, and thermodynamics.
