If you’re as fast as you claim to be, which I fully believe by the way, since you don’t seem like the type to talk yourself up like that. But if you’re as fast as you claim to be, I think you could very easily be among the best in the business. And not just on a local planetary level, if you catch my meaning. So worrying about if it’s “doable” shouldn’t be on your radar.

I guess I’m just worried about striking that spot where it’s useful enough to be hirable, but not so useful that I hate the job or can’t live peacefully. And who knows? With all the talent in the IA, my ability probably isn’t anything special.
<Snipped quote by Nimda>

Don’t let it overwhelm you though. Is anything every as simple as you think when you’re going into it brand new?

You’re right... I just hope it’s doable. I really need to make this work.
<Snipped quote by Nimda>

No I fully get what you’re saying. I still call it being a hero because that’s really what it is. There’s a lot to know, and a lot of disasters can happen in worlds unfamiliar to you, where nature can have some different rules, and people could have different needs. That’s all I’m saying.

Yeah... this thing is starting to sound more complicated than I was thinking it was gonna be.
<Snipped quote by Nimda>

Rescue work, right?

Right, like if there’s an earthquake or something. Disasters and all that. I don’t think I’m equipped to try to save people in any situation.
<Snipped quote by Nimda>

Sounds very specialized. Not, like, doing anything much more than saving people from fire. When you sign up for hero work, in a society with a vast number of different species of people, you have to know how to save properly anywhere, anytime, and based on specific biological needs that some species may have that others don’t. And that’s just surface level.

Sorry, maybe there’s a misunderstanding. I don’t want to be a hero.
<Snipped quote by Nimda>

A lot of times you get full years of college for that sort of thing. Unless you’re really good at what you do.

Where I’m from, we had things like fire departments and such, which even accepted volunteers.
<Snipped quote by Nimda>

If you find someone to. The IA is fortunate enough to have institutions that do that sort of thing, so you’re lucky.

It wouldn’t be, like, on the job?
<Snipped quote by Nimda>

Do you have a lot of experience in rescue heroics?

So, this is sort of my first dip into any job stuff. But every job trains you, right?
<Snipped quote by Nimda>

The specific idea I was thinking of was someone caught in an avalanche. It kinda just works one way, unless you're just moving rocks at the speed of light too.

Right, that would be tough. I could try clearing the rocks one-by-one at max speed.
<Snipped quote by Nimda>

Could other people handle the kind of speed you’d be using like that?

For regular stuff, yeah. Not the speed I’d need to pull them out of a closed building, if that’s even possible.
