They had to have made it at least as far as you did. Maybe they didn’t know exactly what they were trying to find, but they knew they were looking for something at least. Otherwise it just makes no sense.
Perhaps, but it’s possible they were attracted to the anomaly as we were. All factors considered, if they understood what this is, they likely would also have known what they were looking for.
