Alyon Pyre

Age: 23
Race: Human
Appearance: Alyon is a slightly shorter than average female with light, silver blonde hair, hazel eyes and a slender body frame. She doesn't have much of a visual bust size as it is fairly well hidden due to the type of clothes that she wears; which includes a traveller's robe, an thick undershirt to keep warm in the colder nights, long pants and a pair of boots. Her sword is held within a protective sheath on her left side with her hunting knife hidden under her robe on her right.

Personality: Alyon is a well spoken female who is naturally protective of her well-being and the others around her. She has a strong will for adventure and is amazed by the outside world that she has rarely had the chance of exploring.

History: For most of Alyon's younger life she knew her father as a well respected travelling merchant. On a weekly basis he would venture off to the other towns and cities in order to trade goods and supplies that he collected over the past few days. During one of his trips he was raided by a party of bandits and received a crippling injury to his leg, forcing him to both leave the career that he so loved and rely on a walking stick for his general mobility. For the next few years both Alyon's parents worked at a local fruit market until her mother became gravely ill and passed away due to sickness.

Several years later Alyon began to hear stories throughout the markets of these rare Artifacts that were worth a large sum of money. When she questioned her father he told her that he had seen them in his previous travels but had never owned nor even touched one. Her curious nature began to get the better of her and soon she started to talk about finding an Artifact of her own and trading it in order to secure a better future for her and her father.

Seeing his daughter's lust for adventure he pulled out from his collection an old sword that he acquired a decade earlier and offered it to her on the provider that she would practice with it for a few months in advance and as often as possible on her journey. Six months later and knowing the basics of swordsmanship she set out on her journey to find one of these mysterious Artifacts.

Skillset: Alyon is skilled in the basics of swordsmanship. She practices regularly in an effort to ensure her own safety and well-being.

Items:
- A Spatha Sword and sheath that was gifted to her by her Father
- A pack with some simple climbing and camping equipment
- A hunter's knife that is strapped to her side.
Got my character up. Lets us know what you think of her. :)
We think we deviated a bit above, but some of the mistakes weren't easily quantified into a single sentence.

Nah, it's all good. I can see some points where I have made, or seen those mistakes in the past with RPs I've been in. One point I do completely understand is players making unexpected choices or being in unexpected situations. It's a hard one as it requires a lot of planning and understanding in the direction you want to go but everything can be turned upside down when someone makes an innocent post that you didn't initially predict. It's worse when you look back and think, "Damn, should have seen that coming", but on the flip side those sort of twists are what makes this Roleplaying and simply not a linear storyline.

Your comment on Time is one that I COMPLETELY agree with. Even without thinking some people begin to advance the time and then you have the situation where two people meet and somehow one is still in morning yet the other is in the afternoon, and how does it take 10 hours to make a cup of tea or 20min to go around the world, find a relic, fight off an army, and return back to your original destination in time to hear the end of that conversation that was started when you left.

They're not necessarily game killers but if you break the immersion people will be startled and start questioning the quality of the RP they entered.
Ah, I understand what you're talking about and unfortunately that's also a coding issue. The coding works by looking at the beginning [start] tags and then looking at the next tag to see the [/end] tag.

Eg:
Test
[b][i][u]Test[/u][/i][/b]

Easiest way to imagine it is like maths. First you look at items within the brackets, then the multiplication/division, then the addition/subtraction.
10+4x(9-7)=18
Doing it out of order and let's say from left to right and ignoring the brackets could end up with 119, which is a wrong answer except with coding it ends up with formatting, unrecognisable errors.

So let's say you have:
[left][right]text[/left][/right]
Is that text meant to be left aligned or right? or because it's both should it be centered? Maybe it should spread from left to right. The program just simply doesn't know because it's only told to follow a simple command that has resulted in two or more answers.

So in essence what you are trying to do is not center a text part, but trying to center a formatting element which has no formatting properties to begin with as it is there to serve the text, much like Bold, Itallics or Underlines. Treat everything within a hider as an entire entity or a grouped selection of text. When you tell the hider to center and the interior text to left align you are actually saying, "I want you to do this, but I also want you to do that. Now I know you can only do one thing but I want you to do both at once."
We're into the 5th month of iteration II of Coruscant Sacked: Aftermath, but the original dates back to before the guildfall. It took a long while to fix the errors between the iterations, but in the end it was worth it.

If you don't mind, could I ask what errors occurred? And looking back, were they something that could have been avoided if you knew about them?
Sadly real life comes in at the worse times and some people just don't commit to an RP 100% when school, work or family comes first.

The other factor is the work load in starting up an RP. There are people that are trying to make "The best RP ever" and before they know it they've over committed, have a group too large, appeal to too many ideas, or fail to for see what will happen in the story.
Woo! I have a 1x1 that's starting up! :D

I think you're over complicating things and confusing BB code with the alignment system off a word processor (Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, etc.)

BB Code is designed to work like webcoding, but it's a simpler format that doesn't allow <html> tags that could potentially break the page and it's structure/security. For instance, this would be the code that would be used to center a paragraph in HTML.
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<body>
<p>This is a paragraph.</p>
<p><div align="center">
This is some text!
</div></p>

</body>
</html>

Depending on what the surrounding code is like there may need to be some more lines of code added. Is it the center of a text box? A window? Or a Column? Is there text padding? BB code was created to take some of that heartache out and simplify the code generator by giving it key references to look for. So every time you add [B][/B] it will realise, "Ah, this text needs to be bold" and add that effect.

By industry standard the text will always be left align, because <html> standards state that text will be left aligned, and adding center and right alignments will move the text to the corresponding alignments. So there is no need for ever coding a left align BB code as it is already there by default.

If you want some of your text to be left align simply end the alignment and restart it elsewhere.

Something I've noticed with Edits.

If a thread post is edited, a time stamp for "last edited" is placed on the top of the post, however in PM messages the time stamp doesn't exist. Should it?
