Our guests have gone home and the kitchen was easy to clean. The house is spotless and the baby is sleeping. Life is good.

AI is awful and I hate it but forums have been slowing down a lot longer than that. I think it's because the forum generation has just grown up and gotten new priorities (jobs, families, etc).

Hey guys, I edited my character sheet a bit. Lienna knows about the Drakken gods and even a bit of their native language.
Man, I am gutting old openers for parts here. Nonetheless, my post is almost done ^_^
@Inkd Bull

I'd LOVE to take part in this. I love these kinds of supernatural, urban fantasy-like settings and often I can't find roleplays that aren't all like terrible YAs.

A+ FMAB gif usage, man.
@Obscene Symphony Your transformation will be the same every single time you soul link

@WeepingLiberty Make as many characters as you feel you can handle. Go crazy lol

@CencoAwesome! Welcome aboard :)

Okay, I figured as much. Thanks!
And now I shall write my post, and see how many allusions to water I can make. I've got standards to uphold, here.
I deeeeeed it

The person sitting at her table can be anybody, by the way.
If asked, Dakota probably couldn’t determine exactly when her day had started. She could tell you it was dark when a group of annoyed sorcerers woke her to tell her that the generator powering their sector had broken down. Upon sleepy inspection, the problem turned out to be those very sorcerers, who apparently weren’t aware that diesel fuel will fuck a gas engine like a back-alley whore. Due to this oversight, Dakota had a mouthful of diesel fuel for breakfast as she siphoned out the tank and, thankfully, replacing the diesel with gas was enough to send the generator roaring back to life.

That, unbeknownst to her now, had been thirty-six hours ago.

With the brave sacrifice made by an army of energy drinks and a steady workflow to keep her company, Dakota had spent those last thirty-six hours up and moving. Maintenance orders had been piling up in her workshop, nobody in camp seemed to know how to flip a breaker and the list of contraband acquisitions from various Griffins was growing long. So, it was understandable that even after so long, Dakota reacted badly when one of her patrons saw her nest of empty AMP cans and told her to take a break.

“Shh,” she’d responded, holding up a welding-gloved finger, “You’re missing my symphony.”

With that, she pulled her goggles down, restarted the grinder she’d been using and effectively drowned out her patron in a flurry of mechanical shrieking and sparks.

***

Hours later, Dakota happened to look up from her tack-welding (she’d been charged with repairing an oil drum for some goddamn reason) and saw, through light-spotted eyes, that the sky was darkening. She wasn’t sure if it was the first time in this stint that it had happened, but she realized that she could no longer last on Pepsi and crackers and decided to, finally, take a break for a real meal.

Standing up and stretching, an alarming number of bones had to crack and pop back into alignment before she could stand up straight again. A pain in her neck took first precedence, and she made a mental note to talk to Callum about it. She glanced at her jacket on her way out the door, but remembered that she now lived in fucking California and decided she’d probably survive without it.

Her workshop was near the centre of camp, and thus near the infirmary and the meal hall. It was a blessedly short walk to food, and on her way, she spotted none other than Callum, asleep on a bench with some girl leaning over him.

Laughing, Dakota cupped her hands around her mouth and called “Lightweight!” Hoping Callum would hear her. With that she continued on, whipping her hat from her hair (now pressed down from sweat and time spent under a hat) and fanned herself. She’d never get used to the California heat.

Inside the meal hall, she took the biggest ration she could muster from the cooks (“Come on, you couldn’t even cook this stuff if I hadn’t fixed your hotplate!”), took a seat at the nearest table, occupied by someone she didn’t know, and dug in.
Well, there is a male gem in the Claiming Chamber in my post... but then again, he's never been to Gemminia and is in Zak's service as a bodyguard so...

Isn't he from an incarnation or two ago? I feel like I remember wondering how the fuck that happened XD
Name: Aaron Bachmeier

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Birthplace: Germany

Normal Appearance:

Appearance After Soul Link:

Personality: Growing up deaf made a quiet soul out of Aaron, an observer who preferred the edge of the room. He kept to himself, keeping few friends and largely valuing his time alone. A scholarly boy and taking particular interest in medicine, he cares for (and finds fascination in) the well-being of those around him. His anger and upset are set to an eternal slow burn, tending to take to the cold-shoulder, going so far as to remove his hearing aides around those who’ve angered him. However, Aaron has a forgiving soul; he can’t stay angry for long.

Bio: A scholarly boy from a young age, Aaron filled his silent world with books. He taught himself languages, theories, techniques and principles; he took a particular interest in medicine and home remedies, and filled his bookshelves with anatomy and medical journals, setting his sights on becoming a surgeon.

Other:

-Guardian-

Name: Mitchell (the most recent modernization of his spirit name, which is unpronounceable)

Butterfly Form:

True Form: Mitchell’s true form is of a yokai called an Enenra. He is a being made entirely of black smoke, which perpetually curls and moves, its movement resembling the smoke on a blown-out candle, or possibly steam. The smoke, however, moves much more slowly than real smoke and trails in the wake of his every movement, dissipating as it goes. The smoke concentrates into the upper body of a young man with pointed features, his skin pitch black and eyes like burning embers. His skin has a near-shimmering quality, resembling his butterfly form’s wings or charcoal in the sun. His hair is the same shimmering, pitch black as the rest of him and its length constantly changes. It tends to average out at roughly eye-level-length, and always floats around him as if underwater. His movements are trailed in smoke, and he travels by dissipating in one place and rematerializing in another. [insert example gifs]

Class: Combat

Fighting Style: In combat, Mitchell takes almost complete control over Aaron, resulting in a now-tangible form of Mitchell that greatly resembles his true form with one blue eye. He uses his method of dissipating and rematerializing to confuse

Weapon: His body and some magic

Magic: Black magic (Darkness and Decay)
- Darkness: Mitchell can use darkness to trick and confuse the enemy. He can make one person perceive a dark room or, with added concentration and effort, actually banish the light from a room. With this power comes a mild control of illusion, nothing more than a few fleeting shapes in the dark; like movement in the corner of your eye that, when you turn toward it, is nothing. These illusions resemble the shapes people’s brains create in darkness while trying to discern patterns, often when they are stressed or afraid. Of course, darkness is not always evil. He can use it kindly to grant sleep to insomniacs or create a dark, quiet place to calm down; even to play a harmless prank on someone.
- Decay: Mitchell uses “Decay” to weaken enemies. He can make them feel drained and disoriented, as if they’d fallen ill or gone a long while without sleep. He can cause plants to wither and die when he passes through them, but is not powerful enough to do lasting, permanent damage to animals or humans.

Personality: Mitchell is very opposite to his charge in a number of ways. He is bitter, cynical and nihilistic to a fault, jaded and judgemental.
I will post soon-ish. I have an idea... so, Zane will be trading in Drakka after this, but I wonder if it'd be ok for him to try and stay with Nadia or to have followed her carriage to Shadow Worth so they say goodbye there, and maybe Zane could meet her Husband-to-be? Is there any rule against other Gems going to the choosing?

I guess there's nothing stopping Zane from following Nadia to Shadow Worth, but he probably wouldn't be allowed into the castle and forced away. I guess you could have a heartbreaking scene where they're torn from each other at the gates or something, but it doesn't seem plausible to me to have a male gem (or any gem not Reaped) around for the claiming. :/ Maybe he'll hang around the castle and catch a glimpse of her husband when they leave for his holding, but that won't be until the next day, as everyone spends the night at Shadow Worth before leaving.

Drakken are assholes, man.
