Bio

Well now that I got the customary "post once" requirement out of the way....

HELLO

Welcome to my safe space. Well, about as safe as one space can be, I guess. If you are here looking for something, I am very sorry to disappoint you, but I made fresh cookies! Come sit a spell.

I guess I'll do some more in-depth stuff about myself. My name is Nick and I am 35 years old living in Illinois. I am a therapist and clinical responder (which is a fancy way of saying I go out on police calls to provide mental health assistance). Been doing therapy for a few years now and I absolutely love it!

I am a gay, cisgender man. I came out in January 2020 (smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. Timing was always my downfall). There is still much I am learning, but I am proud and happy to be who I really am and not have to hide it anymore!

I am an avid gamer, especially roleplaying games (cue surprised and shock noises). I also enjoy writing and reading, especially mysteries. I am not new to roleplay, I promise. I have been doing it for years now in different formats. I am experienced, even if it doesn't seem like it.

I use humor as a coping mechanism for sure, but I also like laughing and enjoying myself. Life can be pretty sad and upsetting for the most part and I don't want to add to it.

Whew! That got deep!

I will be poking my nose around in spaces and hoping to jump headfirst into this. Some interests I have in terms of roleplay settings include superheroes, DnD, science fiction/fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, horror stuffs, apocolypse, and espionage. And I am a fan of most things pop culture. If you have any suggestions or possible roleplays you think I would love, please let me know.

Otherwise, stick around! This is gonna get wild!

Percy's words might have said he didn't care as long as they won, but she got the sense there was more to the story. It was part of the reason she had the teams set up like she did. Dorian and Danni needed to get along better with Zelda (who in turn needed to be ready to use her abilities for the team) and Percy needed to be away from them all to work on his own shit.

Sabine was already perfect so no need to change anything.

After Percy confirmed her door choice and explained why, she felt enthused. This was going a lot better than she thought. "I think it's a power connected to my main one. Objects have memories attached to them and since I can manipulate memories, I can gauge memories from objects. I don't question it since it has come in handy, as you saw."

Soon, inside the next room, they were faced with a bomb. Surely it wasn't going to actually explode, right?

Who was she kidding. She knew where she was. Of course it would explode!

"No, no bomb diffusal experience, but I have an idea. Hold on." Sabine walked up to the bomb and put her hand on it. She used her psychometry power to see if she can determine how the bomb got made. She doubted she'd see how to diffuse it, but it wouldn't be turned down. At first, she saw the bomb the weapons room on campus. No information. She strained harder, seeing the label on the bomb. C4. So it was DEFINITELY a real bomb. She also saw Nemo grab it so that confirmed it more.

Finally, she delved deeper and got info on the bomb's innings. How it was made and all that. She got out and turned to Percy. "Ok here's my idea. I just saw how the bomb was made. If we know how it's made, we know how to unmake it. So, with your permission, I want to alter your memories. I can't implant memories into someone that I am unaware of, so I can't make people rocket scientists or extreme sports people, but I saw how to make the bomb. I can use that info to manipulate your memory to make you a bomb-diffusing expert. It shouldn't last long but it should be enough to fix this. Do I have your permission?"

After her explanation, Percy nodded in response, so Sabine got inside his head (literally) and used her knowledge of the bomb-making to make Percy the best bomb diffuser ever. Once the memory was implanted, she got out. "Okay, that should do it. You're up." Sabine was confident. This would work.

Prudence listened as the old woman recalled her meeting with the man. It was indeed an uninteresting tale. But it provided Prudence some much-needed insight into her unwilling allies. "Thank you for sharing. Tis most fascinating," she lied. Prudence had yet to meet a man who did not want something he felt entitled to. Be it flesh or more.

The shadow did not seem to stir as they conversed around the goblet. Prudence herself saw the vision of her drinking from it, feeling the liquid down her throat, warm and fulfilling. She resolved herself though. If she were home, it would be a different matter. Her Lord promised her more power. Here, she was certain it was a warning.

"I suggest we leave as well. Though, if that vision and that shadow are any indication, we should steel ourselves. I doubt all here are friends." Prudence glanced quickly at Edus. She would prefer him to lead the charge, in case the shadow attacked—the perfect bait.

Perry gave Flynn some bombastic side-eye. "A literal space rock filled with people who want us dead and competing in some weird contest isn't the weirdest thing you've experienced? We need to sit down and swap stories man because that's wild to me. When we aren't running for our lives, of course." Perry ran along with the others, leaving the attackers to slip in the ice Detective Ed set down.

She still felt bad about shocking Mary, but the girl seemed okay. She kept an eye on her just in case. It occurred to her that they were still on this rock with no way of knowing where to go. Even Ed had it figured out. "Yeah, where are we going? As much as I enjoy getting my steps in, I doubt those jokers will be subdued for long. Though, you gotta admit, invisible ice is a nice touch. Up top!' She held her hand up to no one in particular to give her a high five.

LOCATION: Bus to Alcatraz

Shit.

Brooklyn was used to dealing with law enforcement. ACAB all the way baby. She stuck her middle finger to the pigs whenever she got a chance. Hell, her best enemy in the world was the chief of police in her little neck of the woods. Still, whenever she was picked up, she managed to get out. It paid to have allies, especially those who owed you favors for working on their rigs or for roughing up someone who was bothering them. Hard to catcall a girl with a broken jaw and ribs.

So what the hell was she doing on a bus to Alcatraz?

It was Eleanor Carmichael's fault. She was sure of that. The two tussled for a while, it was only a matter of time before she was caught. However, this wasn't a transit to some prison. This was different. This was for special cases like her. A normal prison wouldn't be able to hold her. Heck, if she wanted, she was sure this bus wouldn't hold her.

But Brooklyn was curious. And curiosity won out over freedom. For now anyway.

So Brooklyn got on the bus. Dressed in a polkadot top, leather jacket, black leggings and red heels, she scooted through the bus. It brought back memories of high school. She sneered at the thought. She saw an empty seat next to a red-headed girl who was fast asleep.

"Stupid", she thought to herself. A bus full of strangers and you fall asleep right next to them. Who's to say they were trustworthy? They were being brought to Alcatraz of all places. So Brooklyn sat herself right next to the girl, glaring at anyone who tried to make eye-contact less they think they can try something.

She looked at a few of the others, but paid them little mind. She wasn't in it to make friends. She probably wasn't going to stick around. Soon as she could she would make her way back to New York, back to her shop, like nothing happened. Or hell, maybe she'd move the shop elsewhere.

Along the route, they made a few stops here and there. Brooklyn kept an eye on them as they came in, sizing them up. Better to see who were threats. Not like many could threaten her if they tried.

One stop surprised someone on board. She couldn't place the accent, but it piqued her curiosity. Brooklyn tried to see who was coming on, but didn't see anyone.

That is until she looked down to see an otter moving on. An otter.

Seriously?

"Ok. What. The. Fuck?" she asked no one in particular. "No one is going to say anything? What, does the zoo let out its animals on field trips?" Brooklyn let her New York accent take hold. She looked around and no one seemed the least bit surprised.

They might be superhuman, but even an actual animal was sure to get looks.

Brooklyn threw her hands up in defeat. This bus was full of idiots.

Eventually they reached their destination and they all filed out. Their items were inspected with some being taken. Made sense. She didn't have much on her. "Need to search me? Get out of line and I'll break your wrists." she said to the person searching her stuff.

Once that was done she joined the others for the...I guess it was an orientation? She paid little mind to his speech. This place wouldn't last long. Who cared about its amenities?

The warden was finished and one of the guys spoke up. “Fuck you very much, Mister Warden.” He paused. “Shit. I meant ‘thank you.’ Thank you very much, Mister Fuckden.” Brooklyn caught herself chuckling. Seems not all of the people here were dumb. "Fuckden. Nice touch. He'll probably cry himself to sleep at night with that insult."

Brooklyn cracked her knuckles. She knew how this would go. Insult the warden, get beat up on by his staff. She figured she could take down 10 or so before breaking a sweat.

Sabine felt fine after a bit, though she hated that feeling. Still, she would by lying to herself if she didn't admit how useful the ability was. Seems the little freshman was good for something other than kindling. She debated letting him in on what she was doing, but figured there was no harm. They were on a team. "Dorian seemed to be the one holding the other two together in that little balancing act. Figured I'd manipulate his memory to make him dizzy and slow them down, though it seems something else happened. Don't know where they went, but we are winning."

Sabine braced herself as Percy set to teleport them. The first was a bust. "As much as I like glimmer, think we can actually move farther?" The second attempt was much better, putting them right where they needed to be. "Ok, that's more like it. Credit where credit's due. That power is sick." Speaking of sick, Sabine fought off the nausea. She was getting used to it, though it still churned her stomach.

The next part of the course saw three doors. There were also three pictures and a box. Sabine pressed forward, assuming Percy would follow. She opened the box and saw the tooth. Sabine picked it up and closed her eyes, getting a sense as to who the tooth belonged to. An image flashed in her head of some white dude with a creepy face. She had no idea who it was, but that didn't matter. The picture of the guy was there. "The tooth is this guy's. Now we just need to pick the right door."

Sabine thought it through. The other two names were important too. Malcolm jumped out at her. Why though? She scoured her brain and remembered a plane trip with her family where she was forced to watch some dumb American tv show for hours. It was so stupid, but the name clicked in her brain.

Malcolm in the Middle!

"Middle door is Malcolm's so that's not the right door. Let me try something." Sabine went in front of the door on the left and used her power to move into the room beyond. Searching for a mind, she couldn't sense anything. Either there was nothing in the room or there was something without a mind. It was a risk, but she was confident enough.

"Door on the left. I couldn't sense anything beyond it. It has to be the correct door." With that, Sabine grabbed the handle and opened the left door.

Prudence was somewhat impressed that Edus didn't exchange barbs with her. Or perhaps he wasn't smart enough to challenge her? Either way, she allowed him to "take the lead" here. If there was danger, he'd get the brunt of it and they would be all the better. As she watched, the old woman spoke to her, asking her about her training.

This posed an interesting dilemma. Did she share her abilities with her new companions or keep them hidden? She trusted neither of them, though she opted to trust the old woman more. She couldn't summon her Lord here, which left her without many allies to call on.

In the end, she decided some information could be shared. "I work with curses and hexes. Twas not through training, but through my own efforts. Perfect use for them should anyone cross me." She gave Edus a pointed gaze. She would leave it there. Best not to share all of her secrets.

"I gathered you two know of each other before coming here. I cannot fathom how a wisened woman and....a younger man...would be friends. Pray tell how the two of you came to be?"

Perry took a few hits, understandable so since she did attempt to shock and freeze them. But her knight in shining armor protected her yet again. "Do you mind if I just stand near you going forward? For protection reasons, of course!" The fact he was eye candy was merely a bonus. The others had it right though, this was not a fight they could easily win. Not without the others. "Running is good. I like running."

But, Perry thought, perhaps she can slow them down. Using her empathy powers, she looked a the replicator girl. She might be able to replicate her body, but Perry doubted she could replicate her emotions. Sure enough, Perry locked on to the real one and sent Barry out with his taser. He shot it off, but it veered. The bolt hit Mary instead. Perry's jaw dropped. What a good way to build teamwork by frying your leader!

"Ohmygod Mary I am so sorry!" She ran up to Mary, checking to see if she was all right and offering her a hand up. Detective Ed took this time to dash forward and, laying a hand on the ground, froze up the path before them. "That will hopefully slow them down some, but we should really go." Perry stood by Mary to help the girl move, if need be.

First Class #2.85 Great Minds Think Alike

Interaction(s): Respective Team Members

Calliope was in a haze.

Her mind was still reeling from her talk with Banjo and Elle. Hyperion intended to come back. It was likely the faculty knew or had an idea. The secrecy made sense, even if she was against it. No need to panic the entire student populace given the attack was still pretty recent. Still, she hated walking around knowing it and not telling the others.

She bumbled her way through her Community Placement. She had been assisting one of the professors but managed to almost ruin some papers he had in her absentmindedness. She managed to collect it and get the work done, but she could tell the professor was upset with her. She would likely not be placed with him if she did this again.

Now her mind wandered as she walked across a calming sitting area outside the Academic Quadrangle. Calliope hadn't noticed someone in front of her until she collided and fell.

Harlowe, to her credit, was also deep in thought with her ear pods in. She hadn't gotten a tour of the school when she had first arrived and as trusted into events. Now she was even more lost. She was supposed to go to her community placement, but she had taken a wrong turn somewhere. Where was the mess hall? Surely that was close to the academic buildings?

Harlowe stopped and, as she looked up, saw a blur of blonde before she was knocked into.

Calliope rubbed her forehead and saw who she ran into. She recognized the girl from the opening ceremony, though she had never spoken to her. And now her first interaction was colliding into her. "Oh my god, I am so sorry! I was so lost in thought. Let me help you up!" Calliope quickly stood up, offering a hand to Harlowe, who took it and got up. Harlowe brushed herself off, "It's fine. Nothing broken. Though..." Harlowe reached up to her ear and felt nothing, "Looks like one of my ear pods fell out." Harlowe looked down. Calliope, embarrassment running up her neck to her cheeks, also looked. Calliope scooped down and picked up the pod and handed it to Harlowe.

Harlowe took it and took her remaining one out before putting them away. "Thanks. And don't worry about it. This campus is so big it's easy to get distracted." Harlowe also figured recent events were weighing on Calli's mind.

"Yeah, I still don't know where most things are. I only just got settled in my dorm."

"Same. What house did you pick?"

"House Ursus. Made the most sense in the moment. You?"

"House Lynx. I think I was also offered Ursus. Could have been in the same dorm. I don't get this house stuff anyway. Is it for sports, like team pride? Or just another way to separate those of us already separate from society?"

Calliope chuckled, more for awkwardness than actual mirth, "I think the latter, probably. Though I believe I heard about some sport thing here. Not my wheelhouse so I plan on giving it a wide berth. Oh, sorry, my name's Calliope. I've seen you around but never introduced myself." Calli offered a hand.

Harlowe took it and shook. "Harlowe Dupointe. Makes sense though. You're team Blackjack. I'm Firebird. Not like we'd get much interaction, especially in different houses." Harlowe wanted to bring up what happened at the campsite, but felt it was too much.

Calli, good at reading people, sensed Harlowe was eager to ask. There were few things the girl would be interested in. Calli hadn't mentioned her last name for fear that Harlowe would pin her to her father and instantly hate her. "I'm doing fine. I'm sure my team is also, though the loss is still fresh. I didn't know Cass too well, though I think I was the one who interacted with him the most. Still, seeing someone die in front of you is no picnic. And Banjo got hurt..."

Harlowe remembered the other guy being tossed like a ragdoll. That must be Banjo. "How is he?"

"He's doing better. I just saw him a bit ago. The healers should be working on him and he can return to class. Which, I believe, is starting soon."

Harlowe cursed inwardly. She was messing things up. "I don't suppose you know where the mess hall is? That's my community placement and I wanted to go and get checked in with them before class.

"Oh that's right outside this building. Head out the front and make a left. Should be the first building you see."

Harlowe grinned, "Thanks Calliope. Maybe I'll see you around?"

Calli nodded. "I am sure you will. Also, call me Calli."

Harlowe nodded in return and, with a wave, walked over to the entrance. She glanced back and noticed Calliope was still facing the direction she was walking toward. The girl was clearly thinking through things. If Harlowe had a guess, it was due to the drama that seemed to surround Blackjack. She liked Calli. Hopefully, the girl was okay.

Calli clenched her fist and unclenched. She counted to 50 before she walked forward. She had to make her way to class.

Harlowe arrived first, checking in with one of the mess hall workers. After settling up, she went to her team faculty representative, Miranda.

Calli followed shortly after. Calli glanced at Haleigh and gave the girl a wave, happy to see a friendly face. She was excited for her first class since it was right in her main interest at the academy.

//DESCRIPTION:
Brooklyn is a native New Yorker. She is Caucasian with light blonde hair and light gray eyes. Her casual attire consists of Rockabilly fashions, usually denim jeans or skirts, leather jackets, and 50's fashion trends, though Brooklyn will occasionally dress in the current styles. Her makeup is typically red lips, black eyeliner and mascara, and some color eye shadow. Her tone is consistent with New Yokers (hey I'm walkin' here!").

▼ B I O G R A P H Y:

"Don't let the shoes fool you, I can snap you like a stiletto."
Brooklyn was raised primarily by her grandmother, who often was called to watch the kids while her mom worked two jobs and her dad stayed out late getting drunk. Cancer took her mother from her, leaving her and her siblings with an alcoholic dad who used his fists one too many times. When Brooklyn's metahuman ability showed up, Brooklyn used it to protect her siblings, knocking her dad out. Eventually, child services were called and took all of the children away, separating them. Brooklyn, having been the oldest, was able to stay with her grandparents.

Her grandfather was a mechanic and taught her the ins and outs of fixing up cars and bikes. Though he never said it, Brooklyn knew her grandparents were fearful of her and her powers, but her grandfather was a staunch protector of her and ensured she always felt safe.

Despite this and her grades in school being all A's, Brooklyn got in trouble more often than not, usually due to tagging, vandalism, petty theft, or staying out past curfew. Unbeknownst to most, Brooklyn also used her powers to protect others and often got the short end of the stick despite helping the community. This solidified her distaste for local authorities like the police.

Once she turned 18, Brooklyn set off on her own, working out of a rundown mechanic shop, fixing up cars and bikes (and even customizing her own). Until the law caught up to her.

▼ M O T I V A T I O N / O B J E C T I V E:

"If they try to keep me down, they are in for a surprise."
Brooklyn looks out for her own. Despite her rough exterior, she values respect and loyalty and, when earned, she follows through with her protective instincts. Brooklyn realizes there's a lot of evil in the world and often it is disguised as those that say they want to help, but usually don't. Brooklyn stands up to authority and isn't afraid to speak her mind, even if it gets her in trouble. She doesn't back down from challenges and prefers fists over words, though she can cut someone with wit if the need arises.

▼ A B I L I T I E S / S K I L L S:

//ABILITIES:
◼ Superstrength | Brooklyn has superhuman strength. She is able to lift and move large tons, is able to break things with ease, and can cause significant damage with her attacks.

◼ Invulnerability | Brooklyn is near invincible, able to withstand huge blows that would wreck the average person. She can withstand gunshots, blades, punches, etc.

//SKILLS:
◼ Mechanical | Brooklyn is knowledgeable in mechanics and is able to fix machines, but mainly cars, motorcycles, and other vehicles.

◼ Street Smarts | Brooklyn grew up on the streets of New York. Due to this, she is able to navigate the streets and all of its wonders.

//LIMITATIONS:
◼ Newton's Three Laws | Despite her strength, Brooklyn is still susceptible the three laws of motion.

//WEAKNESSES:
◼ Gravity | Gravity still matters and anyone with gravity manipulation could impact Brooklyn's ability

◼ Medical | Due to her invulnerability, Brooklyn cannot be healed through traditional means. Needles cannot be injected in her skin, she cannot be cut open for surgery, etc.

In actuality, they are gentle giants who do good work for the community. They have a long-standing agreement with Brooklyn to protect her shop and the surrounding area as she offers to fix their bikes for them.

▼ FRIENDS
Bristol Queen | A beauty influencer who has taken a liking to Brooklyn. The two may seem total opposites, but Bristol enjoys the rough and tough side of New York just as much, if not more so, than Brooklyn. The two get along well and often go out for drinks.

Ryland Chao | The only other worker at Brooklyn's autoshop. Kicked out of his family's home because of him being trans, he works at the shop to make ends meet. Brooklyn pays him more than she should.

▼ ENEMIES
