Bio

Well now that I got the customary "post once" requirement out of the way....

HELLO

Welcome to my safe space. Well, about as safe as one space can be, I guess. If you are here looking for something, I am very sorry to disappoint you, but I made fresh cookies! Come sit a spell.

I guess I'll do some more in-depth stuff about myself. My name is Nick and I am 35 years old living in Illinois. I am a therapist and clinical responder (which is a fancy way of saying I go out on police calls to provide mental health assistance). Been doing therapy for a few years now and I absolutely love it!

I am a gay, cisgender man. I came out in January 2020 (smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. Timing was always my downfall). There is still much I am learning, but I am proud and happy to be who I really am and not have to hide it anymore!

I am an avid gamer, especially roleplaying games (cue surprised and shock noises). I also enjoy writing and reading, especially mysteries. I am not new to roleplay, I promise. I have been doing it for years now in different formats. I am experienced, even if it doesn't seem like it.

I use humor as a coping mechanism for sure, but I also like laughing and enjoying myself. Life can be pretty sad and upsetting for the most part and I don't want to add to it.

Whew! That got deep!

I will be poking my nose around in spaces and hoping to jump headfirst into this. Some interests I have in terms of roleplay settings include superheroes, DnD, science fiction/fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, horror stuffs, apocolypse, and espionage. And I am a fan of most things pop culture. If you have any suggestions or possible roleplays you think I would love, please let me know.

Otherwise, stick around! This is gonna get wild!

Perry pouted for approximately 2 minutes before she pulled herself together. She really wanted to finish the game, but the work of a hero was never done, it seemed. She followed the others as Mira ended the program and Max summoned a portal to the War Room that was a literal hop, skip, and jump away from them. It was cute he wanted to show off. She followed through the portal, not wanting it to go to waste.

Everyone was making their way, but Perry could feel the tension. The emotions in the room was getting a bit much and she felt a headache coming on. Perry only caught snippets of conversation, including Mardi Gras and Mary. It didn't take a genius to put it together that something was wrong and Mary was in trouble.

"Just once I would love a week where people have their actual poop together. Is that too much to ask? Like I get things are happening every day, but seriously, humanity needs a reboot or something. Control Alt Delete. Alt F5 it. Upgrade to Windows 15 or whatever the new one is. Anyway, I digress, what's going on?"
In my experience, especially tabletop posting RPs, that a few people leave early doors, usually joining out of excitement only to realize they can't commit. So it's not surprising we lost 2 already.
Fleur was beyond delighted to have met a friendly face and one that listened and gave her proper directions. "Oh thank you so much miss. I hope you enjoy your day!" Fleur bid the woman a friendly farewell as they travelled in opposite directions.

The woman's directions were good, though perhaps not the best? Fleur did not expect much initially as humans tended to look at her for two reasons. The woman surprised her. Fleur followed and kept an eye out for the third canal and the trade district. She made it to the bridge before she decided she was lost again. How did one navigate towns like this when you weren't raised here? It boggled the mind.

Still, she was not one to admit defeat so easily. She could find Alandri's place and get there on time, even if she didn't "win the race." She looked around for another friendly face, her eyes landing on an older gentleman who seemed to be enjoying the day. She made her way over, tentatively of course, because even friendly people could turn on an instant.

"Do pardon me sir, but I am a bit lost. I am trying to find Alandri the fisherwoman's place and was pointed in this general direction, but I seem to have gotten a bit jumbled up here. Do you think you can point me in the right direction please? I would be grateful."

@wanderingwolf By "the rest of this scene" do you mean until you post next on Sunday or this scene of everyone getting to Alandri's?
@wanderingwolf Yeah I didn't know which skill check that would be. Hold on I am editing my

Edited my post to include the roll
It seemed all of her companions were taking part in this silly race. Fleur threw her hands up. She had to remind herself she was here for magic lessons. It seemed lessons in speed were the order of the day. She was not about to start things off on the wrong foot, she just needed to find Alandri's place and get there quickly.

She was dressed for fashion, not functionality.

She looked around her to see if she could ask someone for directions. She saw a kind-looking woman walking by and walked up to her, waving slightly. Hello, I am so sorry to bother you, but I seem to be a bit lost. I am looking for Alandri. Do you happen to know where she's staying or where I can find her at this time? I would be so grateful."

Ah yes, let's have the least physical person of the party try to run in her super cute shoes.

Colette entered the room preferring to remain unseen. She did not need attention drawn on her from those higher up than her rank. She also did not need to be bothered by anyone wondering who she was and if she belonged here. There had been many a time growing up she was misjudged for one reason or another. Whether it was because she was a woman, because she was pretty, because she fought back rather than take the hit. Either way, the Grey Wardens were different, but were also the same.

Many saw them as heroes. Necessary battle figures in stopping the Blight and slaying the Archdemon. Colette had heard stories. Hell, she had sung about their many adventures when needed. She did not believe them fully. While she joined their ranks, she had done so against her will at first. While she found a home among them, she knew better than most that home did not offer immediate safety.

She listened intently as their mission was laid out in front of them. This was not the type of mission to be done for glory, though she was sure some of their number were in it for just that. It sounded necessary. Vital. Something that should not be screwed up.

Some of the others spoke, either to ask questions or to introduce themselves. So they were just supposed to hold hands and cheer? She supposed it would be good to know names and match them to faces in the event bodies would need to be identified. Colette grimaced, knowing she would have to speak up at some point. Wasn't her whole purpose to be unseen unless she demanded such?

Once a silence fell she moved from her hidden post and joined the others. She pulled down her hood, allowing her long, blonde hair to fall. "Velvet Thorn. You don't need to know my actual name." Satisfied that that was all they needed from her she moved back towards a nearby pillar and leaned against it, awaiting actual commands and the start of their job.
@rush99999 I know. She's not listening to much of the conversation.
It seemed their party was in agreement with her suggestion. So they can be taught. She smiled inwardly as they began their journey to find the fisherwoman. After all, they should not be late. Fleur did not know what would happen but she did not want to find out.

Before they made much progress another dwarf appeared. The excitable dwarf man seemed to know where to go. Fleur was about to call into question why he was listening to their conversation, but what was the saying she heard humans utter before? Something about a horse's mouth and not looking to deeply into it? She didn't understand, but she was not about to turn down help. "Thank you Haibram. I appreciate your help with our task." She intentionally did not share her name. That was on a need-to-know basis.

Fleur followed with the others, but she had to admit she hadn't expected to walk so much on her first day. A magic school shouldn't require you to travel so much when you could be learning how to wield spells or study grimoires, surely. She chose the wrong pair of boots. While fashionable (and made her legs look nice), they were not super well-built for travel. They would do, but she made a mental note to change when she was back in her space.

Jenks, the goblin, had suggested a race. She was definitely, 100%, NOT going to be doing that. "If you intend to run off at least wait until you are sure where we are going." She wasn't going to stop them though. Let them have their fun.
