Bio

Well now that I got the customary "post once" requirement out of the way....

HELLO

Welcome to my safe space. Well, about as safe as one space can be, I guess. If you are here looking for something, I am very sorry to disappoint you, but I made fresh cookies! Come sit a spell.

I guess I'll do some more in-depth stuff about myself. My name is Nick and I am 35 years old living in Illinois. I am a therapist and clinical responder (which is a fancy way of saying I go out on police calls to provide mental health assistance). Been doing therapy for a few years now and I absolutely love it!

I am a gay, cisgender man. I came out in January 2020 (smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. Timing was always my downfall). There is still much I am learning, but I am proud and happy to be who I really am and not have to hide it anymore!

I am an avid gamer, especially roleplaying games (cue surprised and shock noises). I also enjoy writing and reading, especially mysteries. I am not new to roleplay, I promise. I have been doing it for years now in different formats. I am experienced, even if it doesn't seem like it.

I use humor as a coping mechanism for sure, but I also like laughing and enjoying myself. Life can be pretty sad and upsetting for the most part and I don't want to add to it.

Whew! That got deep!

I will be poking my nose around in spaces and hoping to jump headfirst into this. Some interests I have in terms of roleplay settings include superheroes, DnD, science fiction/fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, horror stuffs, apocolypse, and espionage. And I am a fan of most things pop culture. If you have any suggestions or possible roleplays you think I would love, please let me know.

Otherwise, stick around! This is gonna get wild!

So I am thinking this may be dead, which is a shame

I know you are relatively new on here Antartica, but I did enjoy the setting and the RP and I hope we can do it again in the future.

Excited at the prospect of impressing Cal (and to a lesser extent, Nicky), Cassie glided her way through the expansive library. She felt a sense of wonder at the knowledge on the shelves, varying topics at hand. This was more than she ever thought possible. The books she received education from were tailored to her parent's specific standards. Cassie had come to realize how much she did not know about what went on outside her family's walls.

She would have to spend more time in here, but she had a task. Professor Mikkail wanted research done and she wanted to impress him. And if she happened to impress the others in her coven, well that was just the cherry on top.

She passed by a few other students and professors, nodding in greeting before they were swept away to their own tasks. She saw the sign for the Language department and made her way over.

As she neared it she could hear a conversation. It took her a minute (longer than she'd have liked) to catch it was Cal speaking. She heard the tail end of it. She heard it was about being in someone's office, so it had to be Professor Mikkail, right? Why were they discussing him in private without her or Willow being privvy to the chat?

She looked around and spotted the two of them. She got the sense she was interrupting something more, but went ahead anyway. "Hey guys! Sorry to interrupt what I assume was research, but I wanted to share what I found. I learned more about the Witch Trials and gathered as many documents I could. But I also found out more about Krodha. I am happy to share when you two are done....researching though." She gave a small smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.

Surely the research asked about Krodha, or Auril, wasn't ill-informed. Right?

A moment of pure bliss betwixt perilous scenarios and future bad decisions. What did it matter in this moment? Sabine was not perfect, by any stretch. She still worried she was not enough, the contest in the back of her mind, the decisions (or lack thereof) playing on her mind constantly. But she had a plan. She would reach out and ask for help, something past Sabine would never have considered.

And to have friends to do it with when her life had been filled with mistrust and wariness. The ups and downs she had faced made her who she was here and now. And Leah was right; they would be heroes. Sabine had given it a lot of thought. She wanted to pave the road for future psychics and telepaths to not be immediately distrusted, to not be painted as villains and, instead, given a chance to prove they can be good.

She also wanted to further herself, to learn how to defend herself and others with her powers. To see them grow, expand, possibly be shaped and given the potential to be more.

But that was future Sabine's problem. For now, she just wanted to dance, eat, and forget she was anything but a teenage girl, kissing her girlfriend and spending time with her friends. Tomorrow, the plan starts. Today, we celebrate.

Millie slowed down some, but the moves kept on coming. She was unsure who was scoring this impromptu dance battle, but she had to assume she was absolutely killing it along with America."I dunno, but I think it's safe to assume we won? At least, that's the story I'm going with when I talk about this night. Oh! Let's take a selfie!" She got into position with America, holding her phone out and posing cutesy. She would show the photo to America for approval before posting, of course. Gotta get the good angles.

Millicent scanned the scene, eyeing the people she would be going to school with, their respective adults, and her own family. In a brief moment of reflection, she worried about the future. Ever since she got her powers, things shifted. She had known about how mutants were treated. Of course she did. You couldn't be a popular performer and not be up-to-date on current events. At least, if you wanted to maintain said popularity. But she was never embroiled in it. A sound clip here, a video there, expressing how sad it made you to think that there were people out there who, for one reason or another, justified or not, just hated others for things beyond their control.

And then she was attacked and her world changed. She was now receiving messages of support, from other mutants and those who supported them, as well as calls for her to either recede into the background or to....well do something dark to herself. She had received death threats before, but things escalated since then. To their credit, her aunts and uncle did their best to shield her from it and teach her how to better control her new abilities, but she still wanted to perform. Music was a light in the darkness for her. It was a way of expressing herself beyond the scope of what others did. She put all of herself into her music. To stop now was unfathomable.

She let the thoughts slide away. Now was a moment for joy and wonder. "Let's get fucking wild!"
I am interested, holding this place and I'll edit with my character pitch when I have time.

With a semblance of a plan set in motion, Millicent walked back towards the manor, allowing Brendan to catch up. She had wanted to speak to Eleanor for two reasons: The first being that she wanted to gather more information on her husband and the second to see if relaying information about Renee sparked anything. She would be careful, of course.

"Okay, let's find Eleanor. Or maybe get some food first?" Though seeing Miguel's remains didn't spark hunger, she still felt it necessary to get something in her. She had a feeing it was going to be a long day.

"How are you holding up, by the way? I can't imagine seeing that helped any, but I am glad to know what happened, at the very least. Better than running around not knowing where he was or what happened."
@Shu lol yes. Admittedly I shouldn't have joined as I knew nothing about the system.

But I DO love TES and know a lot about it so I am more prepared this time :D
I am interested provided you are not mad at me :(

It had been a long time since Sabine danced with someone like this.

If she were being honest with herself, it made her heart flutter. Granted, it seemed Chase was enjoying himself, playing around, but he knew his moves. She glided to the beat as he highlighted Swing to her. She had never done swing before. Chase knew his stuff. On her periphery, she could see Leah. Chase had noticed too and, after displaying some more moves, spun her over to Leah. Sabine quickly grabbed hold of Leah, both to ensure she didn't spin out of control and fall as well as to invite Leah to move. Leah asked her how to, after all. "Hey sexy. Let's dance!"

Sabine began moving along with Leah, taking it upon herself to lead in the moves she just learned. But either way, she just wanted to forget about the world outside and just...be here. With Leah. With her team. With people who cared for her and supported her. With new friends. With a night of magic and wonder.

The music died, and Sabine grew worried the party was over, but she looked and saw Vision take the stage. She was curious what he wanted to say and he began noting how many teachers they lost, including Ser Nemo. But then Vision highlighted each member of the team. Sabine still felt low, still felt down about how she was during the contest, but Vision's words warmed her. She fought off tears, not willing them to come on when she should be happy and enjoying her night. But his words were true; each of them showed true strength and courage.

Soon, the music began again and Sabine laughed, spinning Leah a bit and nearly falling over herself, drunk on happiness. "I love you, Leah," she said as she kissed her deeply. Audience be damned.

Millicent felt herself pulled, both figuratively and physically, by America through the anti-gravity effect. If it was a dance battle they wanted, then a dance battle it shall be! "Oh heights never bothered me anyway. I've done a few aerial stunts during a show. Let's boogie!"

Millicent's moves were more pop-centered. A few twists here, some breakdancing, spins and stunts, nothing she wasn't used to during a show. It was nice to see the Young Avengers letting their hair down despite their loss. It was commendable.

Millie looked around at the new people she met, the ones she knew, and those she has yet to meet. A new school with new opportunities. She allowed herself a moment to bask in how she got here. If she wasn't attacked, would she have even known she had powers? Would she still be in the dark? And would she have been relying on her aunts and uncle to help? Or held back by her father, or worse, attacked outright?

Now here she was in New Orleans, having a dance battle, about to take part in a new school to help her.

The moment was broken up by kind words from Vision who spoke of each member of Excelsior. Millicent was proud of them. She hadn't known what happened before they got to the contest, apart from Internet rumors, but they made it. She was happy to be a part of them now.

Her eyes wandered to Danni, who was dancing with dark and dangerous, and then to April, who, she had to admit, sparked a lot of interest.

Millicent let the music, once it continued, to take her away. Losing herself in the beat. Win or lose, she was happy to be amongst others like her. It was scary, but oh so satisfying, to see what the future held.
