Great! Ironically the less people the easier it'll be to run so maybe one or two more and then we can be set.

Name: Vissa Karth
Species: Human
Age: 28
Appearance: She has an understated, functional appearance shaped by practicality rather than style. Her build is lean and compact, suited for endurance and quiet movement rather than brute strength. She carries herself with a reserved, alert posture, the kind that suggests constant awareness of her surroundings without obvious tension.

Her features are sharp but controlled, with a calm, guarded expression that rarely gives much away. Dark hair is usually kept short and manageable, cut in a way that won’t interfere with movement or draw attention. She favors muted, neutral colors and layered clothing that can blend into urban or industrial environments. These are typically long coats, fitted jackets, reinforced trousers, and sturdy boots.

Equipment: Two A180 Blaster Pistols, Fractal radio kit, slicing kit with electronic lock breaker, a suitcase worth of clothes
Skills:
  • Infiltration - Whether by slicing or other means of clever entry, Vissa has an expertise of entering secured facilities to extract something of value
  • Espionage - Spy work has included years of practice of posing as someone she is not, eavesdropping, and social engineer to gather intelligence
  • Imperial and Rebel Cryptography - A feature of her training that isn't her strongest forte but she is able to sit down with codes to unbundle or bundle encrypted messages
  • Counter-Surveillance – Training in identifying surveillance patterns, detecting tails, and recognizing when an operation has been compromised before extraction becomes impossible.

Weaknesses:
  • Covert, Not Combat Trained - Vissa is not a soldier and will not excel and even flounder in direct firefights.
  • Lover in Bounds - The Imperials have her husband in one of their prisons and she'll do anything to get him out
  • Grief-bound Resentment - Teeming with frustration over never having the opportunity to free her husband, she blames the Rebellion at every turn
  • Procedural Rigidity – Relies heavily on training and protocol; improvisation under chaotic conditions can rattle her.

History:
Whoever Vissa was before the love of her life, Maro Karth, came into her life was nothing. For those that push to find out where she came from, the answer differs every time. She was an apprentice seamstress on a backwater planet, a prominent aristocrat on a core world, a dirty urchin in the underbelly of Coruscant... Each time she'll spin an elaborate backstory, something belonging to one of her personas just to spare the small pleasantries. She, frankly, doesn't care because all what is important to her is the happiness she felt with Maro.

In her youth, she had been one of the many that were displaced due to the war. She'd find herself in the care of a refugee encampment that was set up as some kind of philanthropic endeavor that some senator put together. She was too young to really understand the specifics but that was where the formative years of her life were spent, meeting the most important person in her life. Maro. There were few that were the same age as her and so Maro and her simply had no one else but Vissa knew even that young that she wanted to be with Maro forever.

When the war ended, Vissa and Maro were about at the age they could set out on their own. Their parents may have tried to stop them but the two had slipped away on a shuttle to start their lives together. They can always ask for forgiveness later because what would life be without their true love?

Life together was worth it but being so young and essentially starting from nothing made it harsh. Yet they carved out a living on the planet they found themselves on which happen to Lothal. They lived a legal and peaceful life but in the stirring activity of the Rebellion, Maro was caught in an Imperial sweep resulting in imprisonment and being shipped off to some facility. Vissa frantically pleaded with the Imperial officials, anyone that would listen to her, but it all fell on deaf ears.

Emboldened and angry at the Empire, Vissa threw herself at the feet of the Rebellion to help the cause. She'd operate as an insurgent on Lothal for a time until her true talents of blossomed where she'd be sent off world to start operating as an undercover agent. Yet as the years passed, promises of running an operation on maybe where her husband was kept seemed emptier and emptier. Vissa was about to tender her resignation when the call came through her radio.

Urgent. Need agent to assist downed pilot on Tregallon. Dispatch immediately.

The information packet came through and reluctantly, Vissa accepted that being so close to Tragellon she would help but this time, the Rebellion owed her massively.

Erika frowned giving them a look as she turned over her hand to expose her palm signaling her annoyance at the secrecy but in the end she supposed she understood. At least now she had something to call them.

"Well, you will all feel silly not trusting me fully." Erika muttered, crossing arms. "But at least I get to call you by names of some kind, now." Erika eased off as she considered everything else. "And yeah, I learned a lot from my mother who was almost Isson Champion. Plus a lot of people battle in Cooldome... Erika trailed off, bashfully. "...But I didn't start my Pokemon journey until recently and from Pureplain City." Erika admitted, knowing she wouldn't exactly be a top threat in the city like some hero.

Although maybe she had the right idea on how to approach this. She just needed a big bad on their side. Though it was a question of how to go about that. It sounded like a really big ask to go after the 'biggest fish' in the city on a whim. Although she did feel convinced by the idea of it...

"Okay so." Erika tapped the goggles on her forehead. "I got these from an inventor in Worldedge and he didn't know what they do so I took a job to find out what they do. Now one thing I do know is that they lead to the center of Worldedge where I have heard some Legendary Psychic Pokemon may be located to give the mountain its floating properties." It was fairly common to hear that rumor spread but nobody knew for sure if it was true. They didn't even know the Pokemon that could be in there.

"Anyway, I suspected if I left Worldedge, they would point me to somewhere else. Here in Bigfjord City, I see two destinations." Erika pointed at Rukh HQ. "The Rukh HQ building." Then she pointed to the Northeast. "Then somewhere over there. I can't tell where as buildings are in the way, but the point is I think they lead to a Legendary Pokemon."

It dawned on Erika that maybe admitting that she had a device to lead people to Legendary Pokemon might not be wise. Bad people might be willing to do anything to get their hands on such a locating device. Erika frowned. "Uhh, please don't tell anyone that. My price for helping you..."

Erika shook the thought from her head. "Anyway, I don't know if it is true or not, but I have to find out. We could go to Rukh or the other Northeast part of town to find out. If I am right then maybe we can ask a Legendary Pokemon for their help. That is a lot of strength behind the movement." Erika said, before tapping her chin in thought. "Either that or we convince Renaud which I think is possible. I believe Chime when she said Renaud is a good person. He is a Gym Leader! They are supposed to be models for trainers like me and you."

Erika shrugged. She didn't sound super convincing but surely Renaud realized that this city stunk for Pokemon trainers. "He might be difficult to convince but maybe secretly he doesn't like how this city is run? I dunno but I would like to check out what the goggles point me to. What is in the Northeast part of town, by the way?"

With that Erika would finally conclude and put it up to discussion.
"So what do you all think we should do?"

Expedition Log 11-8

It has been done.

With the developments to airship travel, we finally had the means to venture beyond the Jagged Spine and reach the lands beyond. We made landfall at the cusp of a lush conifer forest, it is clear to see these lands are teeming with life, abound. Some familiar, others new. Yet I can't help but remember the sight that greeted us as we crested the last few mountains to arrive. A circlet of towering trees, well above the regular forest's typical height. All were circling the largest tree in the center of the forest, perhaps even, the largest in the world.

It may have been the sun or altitude but there almost seemed to be a glow from its canopy. Then there was the glittering that seemed to fall from the canopy like every leaf was gemstone catching the sun to let the whole land know another leaf was falling. It was stunning and it calls to me to study it closely. What secrets might it contain? What wonders??

It'll take time to convince the Commission, but I am sure we can fly directly there once the forward operating base, Lhasana, is completed. The next Second Expedition can handle the specifics after.

I admit, my sense of urgency comes from the feeling like this magnificent tree will vanish somehow and with it, the wonders it holds will go with. I must reach it. By any means.

Onward to Yggdrasil

Preface

Hi.

So it is a little unusual for me to try and run my own roleplay, but I think I want to try this with what I have written down and planned out so far. How this will work is much akin to a favorite GM of mine, I will play the narration, monsters, and endemic life you'll encounter as a player. You, as a player, will play this like a Monster Hunter game. Kinda. Combat is written out by you and I'll write back on how successful and the reaction from the monster. There won't be grinding of materials from monsters but there will be a drop table.

I can't take the credit for it because I found someone made a whole manual for a Monster Hunter game. I will be loosely using it. The more technical stuff like +2 to climbing I'm doing away with and instead parts will translate to one of the Monster Hunter perks from the armor you can get in-game. Then when you write and attempt actions, you get advantage in consideration for success. For example, a Chatacabra claw when used to make an armor piece will grant you Speed Eating lvl 1. If you manage to harvest a second claw and use it along with the first, you'd get Speed Eating lvl 2. You can make an armor or weapon of a monster using up to three pieces of said monster. So using three claws will get you an armor piece that grants Speed Eating lvl 3.

Hopefully that makes sense and sounds fun. It is a bit of work in progress but I am willing to adapt to what people find fun!

Ending Note

Probably obvious what I just managed to finish watching.

Erika listened as she peered through the goggles. She probably should have asked what was usually seen in them, aside from the Inventor's home and the center of Worldedge. Though a few lines seemed pretty straight forward. One headed towards the center of Bigfjord and the other to somewhere further afield. She couldn't tell where though but that did confirm one thing at least! These goggles did not lead Erika back to Worldedge or her home. They lead her to certain landmarks... whatever those may be. Surely there was a common thread but now she had to know what that would be.

Lifting her goggles, she finally turned to address the others. "I'm inclined to agree with..." Erika turned her gaze to the Chimecho trainer and frowned. Did they introduce themselves yet? Surely, Erika wouldn't just be calling them by codenames?

"...Chimecho. Wait can I at least know who you guys are?" Erika motioned with her hand at the group. "I guess the masks can stay on if you don't trust me but you all have seen my face." Before they got too far, "Erika, by the way. I come from Cooldome City so quite a bit different than here."

Introductions likely sorted, Erika turned her gaze to the big building that her goggles lead to. "So I'll clue you in to what these things are in a moment." She pointed to the goggles. "But tell me what that building is with the big R-U-K-H on it?"

Erika took it in.

What the thieves were had changed in her mind but she made a startling discovery in the process. It took all of this for her to get a different impression of them. How many people came in to see the city and saw thieves descending down on stores to rob them and flee, a scene that seemed foreign out in the rest of Isson? Yet what the thieves did was to survive and help others survive and yet...

The needle wasn't moving. The loss was within expectation of the big corporations and families. She sat back, eyes glazing over as she stared at the twinkle, not of stars, but the city lights towards the center of the city. So large. Far to big to make a difference for people so small.

She glanced at her bag, mind drumming up a theory. Only the right kinds of people could make a difference. Well, the right kinds of people or Pokemon. This place felt like it lacked any draw for a Pokemon but they still did appear here so maybe...

Erika had her theory on the goggles. The center of Worldedge was a peculiar place to lead and she had a hunch about the goggles she had been given. Among one of the rumors and gossips she had often heard was that Worldedge's floating portions were held up by a powerful and legendary Psychic Pokemon. If you used the goggles in Worldedge, it would lead you there, right. So what if she wasn't in town?

"We need the right people or the right Pokemon." Erika finally replied. She opened her bag and pulled out the pair of goggles. She ignored whatever questions came up and instead tried to ask about the only figure she probably could relate to. "What is the Major Gym Leader like?"

If she was wrong about the goggles then maybe she could find the Major Gym Leader. Surely, whoever they were didn't enjoy this. Trainers wouldn't come to Bigfjord looking for a good battle when the city just reeks of being unfriendly... right?

"I'm listening." Erika reassured them as she busied herself with the goggles, making sure they were on and then with a breath she slipped them over her head and hat to glance through them the first time...
❄Erika Olson❄

"Thanks." Erika replied, nodding as appreciated the praise. She wasn't even sure where that idea came from but maybe it was from a movie. The thought had taken Erika briefly away before the command to not look up was uttered. She almost immediately looked up and saw them. Shadow figures that looked imposing up there, some were even perched like gargoyles in fantasy. Though that could have been their Flying-Type Pokemon that they had.

"Oh! Sorry!" Erika laughed, though she didn't see the big deal. They weren't going to do anything... Right? They carried on for a bit longer until they came to a stop at a corner. Erika peered out alongside her masked friend and witnessed the battle for herself. Amazing... She pulled out her PokeDex to get a full survey but was watching the battle intently. She hadn't seen team battles like this at all, really. Sure, they were primarily squaring off one-on-one but they would influence the battle of others. A safeguard to protect their team, debuffing abilities...

"Combusken!" Chic sounded, startling Erika, turning to see Chic stepping up almost as if she were eager to plunge into the fray! Erika grabbed Chic and rounded the corner out of sight again. "Chic! We'd get squashed!" Erika sighed. "Though not for lack of effort but we simply aren't strong enough yet. One day." Erika patted the top of Chic's head before returning her to her Pokeball.

Following the thief, the pair went on undisturbed into a new section of town. If Bigfjord felt off before, it certainly stuck out in Erika's mind as they wandered the rutted out streets and cold slab and metal exteriors of Sunset Slums. "Wow..." Erika muttered at the introduction, not sure what else to say. Her eyes wandered about to see... well... nothing like home.

They'd eventually arrive at their destination with the rest of the thief gang waiting. She expected a little of the third-degree considering she did stop most of them...

"I mean, you guys really do look like bad guys..." She muttered in defense. Erika remained mostly silent after that. She watched the party shuffle on. They paid for rent and food for someone else which made Erika shrink. If she had known they were using the money for something good then maybe she wouldn't have been so quick to stop them.

They carried on and Erika paused to watch the daycare a little bit. Pokemon and kids playing wholesomely was the first warmth she felt in the city. It was something familiar. Then the bakery had Fire-Types gently stoking the flames of a fire in some earthworks to keep the bakery running as a dusty lady continued to kneed dough. She was hard at work but she looked happy? Satisfied? Erika wasn't sure which but it looked like she enjoyed what she was doing.

The shrine was some very old wood, adorned with newer ornaments and offerings that seemed to stick out. A Chimecho fluttered nearby alongside a trainer who was meditating. Different than the cheery thief that Erika had encountered. Yet again, though, Erika was reminded of well... anywhere else she had encountered in Isson. Places where there were warmth of human and Pokemon friendship. Daily activities that they would pal around to do.

Words couldn't really explain it as Erika didn't have the ability to, but this felt like what she wanted out of Bigfjord.

Are you sure you want to know?

"Yes." It was instant but Erika had to know. Surely this city could be better.

It was all explained and for once, Erika could put it all together. Erika sat down, finding a perch to watch the distant glimmer of lights from the spires of Bigfjord's larger buildings. She glanced up to see no stars, drowned out by the glare of city lights. It just all made sense why things worked this way here, but to Erika, it didn't make sense why it even existed at all. Cooldome City is novel in its concept, more of a resort in ways. Everyone was there to enjoy themselves so maybe it made sense why Erika saw Isson through rose-tinted glasses.

‘Having heard all that… what are you going to do now?’

Erika didn't really know. What was she going to do? What could she do?

"...How do you really make a difference here, then?"
<Snipped quote by Pirouette>

If I could be frank, I'd love to see you do something different from Silk. I feel like I've seen you do Silk in the last couple of iterations of this style of RP.

That said, if your heart is set on Silk, I won't stop you from pursuing her.

I miiight have had an idea or two before. Ideas that I read up on so could maybe do them justice. Back around Halloween, I did want to do something that was a little more mystical horror in nature. Change up the writing.

I'll think about it. Read what everyone else is doing. Get my bearings a little.
